Insomniac Games would love to bring Sunset Overdrive to the PC

Back in June, we informed you about a rumour suggesting that Sunset Overdrive was coming to the PC. And two days ago, Insomniac Games claimed that it would love to bring Sunset Overdrive to the PC. The catch here is that, according to the development team, Microsoft has the final say so it’s really up to them.

When fans asked Insomniac Games whether it would bring Sunset Overdrive to the PC, the development team replied that it would love to bring it, though the ball is in Xbox’s court on it.

“We’d love it if it could happen but [the] ball is in Xbox’s court on it.”

“We’d love for it to come to PC, though it’s up to Xbox on that one.”

This obviously does not surprise us. In June, NeoGAF’s industry insider ‘Enter the Dragon Punch’ claimed that Sunset Overdrive was indeed coming to the PC.

Microsoft has not commented yet on this, but we’ll be sure to update the story once it does!

      1. all microsoft games will eventually come to steam right after they realize no one is buying their broken garbage, microsoft is a failure and it’s amusing to watch them struggle

        1. Maybe we could skip that and go straight for a Steam release that actually works…but I ain’t holding my breath.

      1. On the one hand, Halo PC, great. I’ll finally get to play Halo 3.

On the other hand, more UWP games >.>

Either way, as I’ve said before, they might do this next year, if they do that Halo: Master Chief Collection with Halo 3 Anniversary & full 4K compatibility for the Scorpio that I’m betting they’re planning – assuming Microsoft is truly interested in the PC, & they’re not just dragging us along, like many of us still believe.

Either way, there’s a chance we’ll know next year, assuming Microsoft does indeed do that Halo: Master Chief Collection for the Scorpio, updated with Halo 3 Anniversary & full 4K compatibility. Assuming Microsoft is truly interested in the PC, & they’re not just trolling us for as long as possible (like many of us still believe), bringing the Scorpio MCC to Windows 10 will prove their dedication, wholly & unquestionably.

  1. I watched one of my friends play this, the controller is such a bad idea on a game with so much going on at once, it would play much better with m/kb. kind of a fun, stupid game to screw around with if its like 20-30$, 60-50$ isnt worth it

        1. I think he’s saying “they made a game where you strafe around enemies & shoot them, but didn’t make a PC version of it, even though such gameplay perfectly fits the PC’s m/k.”

      1. tell that to all those devs that re-release old games on steam without drm, far cry 2, horrible drm, singularity, saboteur, mirrors edge, spore also awful drm., timeshift why do they re-release them on gog?

    1. Better if they add this to Windows Store instead of Steam as “Xbox Play Anywhere” (shared buy between PC and Xbox). Most Xbox owners already have this game in collection because it was free in Xbox Gold so they don’t need to buy this game second time. MS need more “Xbox Play anywhere” games to promote Windows Store.

      1. What about all the PC Gamers who don’t own an Xbox, don’t care to, don’t know anyone on the Xbox, & would much rather see it as part of their Steam Library instead of UWP?

        F*ck ’em, right?

        1. This is Microsoft game and i should be on Microsoft Store. Free for all PC users who already own this game on Xbox (Xbox Play Anywhere). Millions of players already own this game so they don’t need to buy it again (was free on xbox gold)

          1. And millions more, don’t. Many (not to say most) of those millions who don’t already have it, don’t have an Xbox either, so, yeah…….

          2. Sunset Overdrive was free in Xbox Gold so all active 45 milion of Xbox Gold users have this game in collection. Xbox Gold have 2x more active users than Xbox One because of active users of Xbox 360. All of them have Sunset Overdrive for free in their games collection. If MS publish this game on Windows Store as Xbox Play Anywhere milion of those games can play this game for free on PC

          3. Yes, and?

As I’ve already said, twice, millions more people who don’t have an Xbox, etc. etc. etc. & most importantly don’t care & or want an Xbox copy simply DON’T CARE about the Xbox copy, so, again, why shouldn’t it be on Steam, exactly?

          4. On Windows Store 45 milions of gamers will have this game for free
On Steam all users must pay

            It so hard to understand?

          5. Apparently so, since I once again have to point out HOW MANY PEOPLE DON’T GIVE A SH*T.

Also – doing a Steam version doesn’t negate them from doing a Windows Store version, you know…….

            P.S. 45 mill- what?

      2. well Xbox Play Anywhere might be good feature for xbox people , but for PC gamers its big f’ you as it atuomatically means WinAbominationStore exclusivity and UWP

        1. This game was free in “gold” so 45 milions of active xbox gold (x1, x360) already own this game even if they don’t have xbox one. It will be great if they add it to Windows Store as “play anywhere”

  2. So what’s the hold up? Oh of course, the corporate overlords at Micro$oft simply won’t allow it. How silly of me to think for the betterment of gamers…

  3. I really would love for Xbox One’s older exclusive titles like Halo MCC, Forza Horizon 2, Forza 5, Halo 5 to all come to PC.

I only have a 360, PS3, Vita, a PC, and I’m also apart of the PS4 master race so I don’t have a way to play Halo MCC. Really want to though. I love Halo single player campaigns.
