Beamdog boss Trent Oster has revealed that the Enhanced Edition of Icewind Dale will be released on October 30th. Furthermore, Oster confirmed that the game will be available for sale on Beamdog’s own platform, as well as GOG and Steam, for PC and Linux.
Icewind Dale has been enhanced with new kits and character classes, dozens of new items and spells, and restored quest material cut from the original game. The redesigned user interface features Zoom capabilities and a Quickloot Bar, among numerous other improvements. Up to six players can simultaneously enjoy Icewind Dale with the new cross-platform multiplayer mode.
The game will require a one-time activation during installation, but after that you can play the game offline or even transfer it to another computer you own for easy back-up.
Here are the game’s key features:
-Six expanded quests, featuring content cut from the original game
-60 new items
-Heart of Winter and Trials of the Luremaster expansions
-31 new class and kit combinations from Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition, well as the half-orc playable race
-122 new spells carried over from Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition
-Cross-platform multiplayer
-A new “Story Mode” difficulty setting to allow players to experience all of the story with none of the Game Over screens
Enjoy!

i would like to see a complete remake of baldurs gate or icewind dale not hd remasters… i want them to be like divinity, artworks and graphics and gameplay and all, i guess that would be cool
Ask for aberrations and ye shall have: http://www.nexusmods.com/neverwinter2/mods/794/?
Also LOL at the ‘Story Mode’, as if the story in Icewind Dale were so deep and complex that the combat gets in your way… jeez Beamdog should be nuked from orbit.
This is awesome! IWD is every bit as good as BG and BG2, plus with all the improvements in classes and kits, you now get to create a full party of 6 absolute bad*** es.
Plus both of the expansions included AND extra content this is gonna be a very welcome journey back to the Spine of the World. So hyped to get this loaded up. Gonna have to figure out how to fit it in between DAI and W3 tho!
NVN2?? I couldn’t uninstall that fast enough back in, when was it, 97?
Although, does that mod include Durlags? Like the whole thing?
Anyway you must be crazy. IWD didn’t have as huge a story as BG, but it was still decent, especially the ending, and the combat was pure D&D chaos, and will be even better and more streamlined with the newer interface. Plus, I think the story ‘mode’ just shows the cutscenes/story dialogue.
Beamdog doing a heck of a job with these. I enjoyed the hell out o f the BG an BG2 plays, with tons of mods for both (they all still work)
Eh, if you feel happy about spending 15+ dollars for a game which sports dubious ‘enhancements’ and introduces a huge amount of new bugs, then good for you.
