  1. This looks very promising.
I always wanted a game like this and for the most part it is BUT the music is generic and the dark atmosphere is absent.

    1. first graphics out of the castle looks old gen, and the problem is a next gen game could be more amazing but it seems like they dont care just want wider audience for more money

    2. i am not a harry potter fan, in fact i dont care for it at all, never saw what the fuss was about. So i couldnt even get through the first 5 minutes of the video before giving up. There isnt a harry potter game that isnt a movie game or a lego game, so the fans will like this as if its a masterpiece because its the only thing they got. Aside from that i got one criticism to make, why does it look like an unreal engine 3 game? By that i dont mean the graphics are bad, i mean the visuals have that grey washed out look of games like gears of war, the ball, legendary and damnation. The movies were not this grey and washed out.

      1. It does look like a UE3 game and you are on point with this grey and washed out look. I think the lighting system is old just so the f@cking 2013 Xbox could run it.

          1. because it used the same workaround most of you have been using (a space in the link)

  2. I forgot 1800s Englad was pozzed as sin. The game looks like Bully with magic, not bad but also not good.

    1. creation of trans characters confirmed a couple of days ago. Soyfaces be like “suck it JK Rowling”

personally i couldnt get past the 4th minute of the trailer.

      1. While JK Rowling cash in some money on the side just because she created this thing, hilarious.
Feminists being eaten by the same people they tried to appeal is always a good thing.

  3. they show that you can make un ugly mongoloid with blue hair in the character creation for a reason. This is who they are and this is their audience.

  4. its not our fault bro left extremist contol media in usa (equal rest of the world who follow usa like their boss) and they put us that sh*t even in school, im tolerant to that but sometimes just feel like they want to us to be gay in force and some of my friends have the same feeling. hope this goverment kick extremist out of goverment or another president save us

  5. As if the Harry Potter universe itself wasn’t lame enough, they had to slap these shetty boring mechanics like rolling, locking to targets, and long tedious conversation to it as well.
It’s so easy to skip games and never think about them these days.

          1. I wouldn’t have skipped 90 percent of the video if the combat looked as good as Arkham games. It looks very similar to souls games (locking to targets, rolling, and attack patterns). basically boss design from the sega genesis era.
Looking at the history of the studio behind it, it’s not shocking to see that they’re going for something that appeals to the sheep herd that perpetually consumes hot t*rds like elden ring and dark souls.

          2. Wait, Elden Ring, Dark Souls etc fans are sheep too? So basically anything people like that you don’t, they’re sheep? I was told Dark Souls fans were the real old-gen gamers and I’m a sheep for liking easy games. ?

    1. The “combat” somehow reminds me of DA Inquisition (in that aberration you can chanel different skills with cooldowns ala MMO) quite static but with the Souls “action rol” TM.

  6. I’m sure this 1800 england is on multiverse, because diversity not exist on our universe at that time. This makes me thing, what would it become when hollywood making Lord of the Rings remake. Maybe Gandalf is black, frodo is an asian boy and legolas is trans elf. And they will cast zoe kravits as arwen.

    1. Do you even get what Hogwarts is about? They send letters to anyone who has magic powers across the world. It’s what made it universal in the first place, it’s the very first few chapters of the books.

      1. Incorrect. I’ve never read the books but from what I remember in the movies and now looking up info about the Hogwarts acceptance letter, they specify that it’s just sent to every magical child in Britain. It’s pretty evident given how the majority of characters in the movies have British accents.

Plus, even for me as a black British citizen, it’s jarring to see blatant forced diversity in a game that’s meant to be set in the late 1800s. Like others are pointing out, it just feels like London in the modern era. Especially with the hair dye options which is stupid. It’s bizarre that we’re living at a time where it’s shameful to portray Victorian London with any form of accuracy. Even the Sherlock Holmes series is beginning to follow that trend from what we’re seeing.

  7. Looks awesome, imo.
Not a fan of the books or films, but the universe is quite interesting.
I’ll play the shlt out of this for sure.

  8. Apart from all the glaring issues with tone and the feeling of there being just too generic gameplay, the environmental art looks really on point – but I doubt old-gen consoles will be able to properly run this on any capacity.

  9. despite I love the Harry Potter universe and I agree with Rowling’s personal opinions, I will not buy this joke.

  10. No kidding. I just watched the State of Play video and thought it was meh. And then I gave the old leaked footage a rewatch and it’s night and day for me. The character models, animation and environments looked a lot better back then for some reason. I would say I’m surprised because it’s by Avalanche, who are known for making top notch visuals (and yet it looks like an early PS4 title at best), but I’m not.

As for the politics: it is what it is. If the problems in our societies cannot be resolved properly then it’s bound to reflect through our entertainment. If you want high budget games that are hopefully free of any political messages (unless the localisation falls into wrong hands) then it’s best to focus on the ones that aren’t coming from the West. But good luck with that since Russia’s future is now dubious, so I don’t know what will happen to games like Atomic Heart. And if China gets heavy sanctions too then games like Black Myth: Wukong will also have an uncertain future.

    1. Well that’s depressing to read… I wasn’t aware of all those things. I remember the DOOM skin which made no sense but I suppose it was a desperate attempt to shoehorn something that was meant to please a small demographic since it’s now a mandatory for every game to at least have some of the checkboxes ticked. Aside from what they did with the Gears and Halo series I’m not sure what else Microsoft has done to screw up their legacy (other than not making any games). Which is why I’m curious to see what they’ll do with Perfect Dark and Fable, if those games ever come out. I already know Joanna Dark is not gonna look as appealing as she always did and Fable will be extremely woke but I wanna see how Microsoft can square up with Sony in the current climate.

Didn’t know about the whole situation with Mundfish. I figured Russians and Ukrainians generally use Soviet imagery in their games since it isn’t a common theme in games and, well, it is a part of their history. And yeah I know about the female character getting botched. Can’t say for sure what’s happening over there in the studio. For the longest time I’ve been curious about where exactly they’re getting the budget to make the game since they’re independent? And it’s their first game too. The source of the income is important like you said because there’s likely a huge agenda behind it all.

I was always wary when I first started noticing all these studios in the film and gaming industries just going nuts on acquisitions because I sensed there was going to be some wide scale manipulation and I think it’s pretty evident at this point. I was actually cool with THQ Nordic buying all the small studios and gaming IPs that have been collecting dust but it seems like Embracer is really the company behind all these decisions.

I’m not exactly sure how Princess Peach is ruined. Was looking into her recent titles and she looks same ol’ same. And wow I only just noticed Zelda’s short hair. Didn’t notice it the first time round. But I agree once Shigeru is gone it’s game over pretty much. Nintendo is already struggling without him being as involved as much since he’s working on other non-gaming projects. And I think the company took a major toll when we lost Satoru Iwata.

It’s true that the Chinese don’t have a decent track record but I feel like they have slight potential. As well as the Koreans with a few titles in the works, namely Project Eve. The game was bold enough to provide some fan service in their last trailer and the protagonist is reminiscence of old school designs that we appreciate. Of course that could easily change from now till the moment it’s released but I’m cautiously optimistic. The trailer was enough to trigger a male-feminist journalist at Eurogamer so they’re doing something right.

Yeah, I only knew about that leak a few months back. That clip had the epic theme playing in the background and the tone just looked so much darker. Also destructible environments that can be used to your advantage (crushing enemies under a ceiling held by pillars as you can see), exploring pitch black hallways, probably mazes too; could have been used for horror elements. Unlike what we saw with the current version which didn’t show much besides zapping enemies and levitating them or other objects. Maybe there was more but I wasn’t engaged enough to care. The leaked version looked like a Harry Potter game I would love to play honestly. That was when the original director was on board but got ousted for being outspoken about his defence for the Gamergate movement. No doubt the guy who replaced him is a typical yes-man who’ll bring nothing to the table other than what his masters want.
