Now here is something special for our old school shooter fans. Modder ‘pingvin66666’ released a 2.5GB HD Texture Pack for the classic third-person shooter, Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2.
In order to overhaul the game’s low-resolution textures, pingvin66666 used AI techniques. As such, this HD Texture Pack retains the original style and aesthetic of the game.
You can download this HD Texture Pack from here. Below you can also find a comparison video between the game’s default and the modded HD textures.
Have fun!

I love that game.
So many good memories about it.
I unfortunately never could play the game back when it came out as my PC was not able to run it! I remember getting the demo on a disk, and trying so hard to make it run…ah the good ole days of PC Mags and accompanying disks with loads of goodies (and random s#!t)!
Looks amazing! Texture upscaling job well done!
ruins it.
you say AI, I say sharpness filter and brightness adjustment.
Hope someone makes such mod for RUNE 1 or Freedom Fighters.
in cold blood needs it the most
and why we need to know this ?
becouse some of us are downloading it to play that awesome game once again?
where? I cannot find the game in digital stores like Steam or GOG

lol I’m actually more surprised by how good the original game looks, considering its age.
Where can the game be purchased???
The only real difference I see is in the eyes and hair. But hey, I am glad to see this (mostly?) forgotten gem is getting some attention. Great job! But the original still holds up in my opinion.
Arx Fatalis next please! 😉
Nvidia should make a driver version of AI texture enhance, to do it on the fly on any games you turn it on for.
