Back in March 2015, we informed you about an official free-to-play online version of Halo 3. This project, called Halo Online, targeted Russian gamers and was officially coming from Microsoft. However, in August 2016, Microsoft announced its cancellation.
As you may have guessed, this did not stop PC players from unofficially restoring its content and features. Thus, ElDewrito was born. ElDewrito is described as a community-made mod for Halo Online allowing multiplayer games to be played in player-hosted servers and aims to restore removed features, fix bugs and glitches, and add mod support.
ElDewrito has multiple server browsers, player and emblem customization, stat tracking, ranked and social servers (as well as an in-beta ranking system). Anyone can host custom servers – as a host player, or with a built-in dedicated server functionality, along with map/gametype voting functionality.
This mod will be releasing April 20th and the team shared a brand new trailer in order to celebrate this announcement.
Enjoy!

on the 4/20 eh?
i’m not sure if this is a prank but the date made me chuckle
BAHAHAHA gotta love them for releasing it on 4/20. Now they have the whole theme:
El (Mountain)Dew(Do)rito on 4/20
Why not Microsoft released Halo 3 on PC??
They wanted to. Halo Online was a Halo 3-esque project with enhancements by one of the offices of Saber Interactive at Saint Petersburg and released their test versions locally in Russia, with subsequent plans to go worldwide after successful testing. However, when it got compromised by this mod before it even released to bypass the servers and also compromised the monetization system, MS unsurprisingly pulled the plug.
lol, don’t trust the Ruskies (i like then, oy matey). Seriously tho, this is not Halo 3, because it lacks the, you know, campaign mode…
Sure, but it’s still built on the Halo 3 version of the engine. The original test versions used a lot of Halo 3 assets as well.
Lmao I am so satisfied that your pathetic microtransaction-ridden cash grab abomination version of this port never came to fruition, just to see you cry baby tears about it on a video game website.
The only tears here are yours pauperboy!
We could have had a properly supported Halo game on the PC, yet you pirate scumbags ruined it for everyone else and now we’re stuck with a trash game that is completely unfinished and is full of problems.
Keep messing it up for everyone else, pirate scum, this trash will never be played at the community levels of Halo games on Xbox because people know it’s unsupported trash!
Keep wasting your time and being a loser at real life, because that’s the only thing you’ll ever be!
on the 4/20 eh? i’m not sure if this is a prank but the date made me chuckle
Port the campaign to this mod, then i’ll get excited.
I don´t understand the 4/20 thing…. someone?
I’m seeing zero cancerous Reach features, all H3 gameplay. Positively surprised.
Looks like PC gamers finally get to FINISH THE FIGHT.
