Hackers have leaked the source code of NVIDIA DLSS 2.2

Earlier this weekend, NVIDIA fell victim to a cyberattack. And, from the looks of it, the hackers have leaked the source code of the NVIDIA DLSS tech.

In the following image, we can see the C++ files, headers, and assets for DLSS. As reported, these assets are from one of the latest versions of DLSS, version 2.2.

nvidia dlss leak

This is the second big leak that NVIDIA has suffered in the past couple of years. In 2021, GeForce Now leaked a huge list of unannounced games that were coming to PC. That list included God of War, Uncharted 4 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Two of these games have already been released, whereas Uncharted 4 will also come out soon.

As with most leaks of source codes, other companies won’t be able to actually use them. Still, this leak may give Intel or AMD an idea of how DLSS works. After all, DLSS is currently one of the best features of all RTX GPUs. And while AMD is not working on anything to counter NVIDIA’s tech, Intel will be releasing soon its DLSS rival, the Intel XeSS.

Stay tuned for more!

    1. if AMD really want to use AI then we have seen FSR using AI. nvidia introduce DLSS back in 2018. intel still not releasing their arc GPU but they already showing around their prototype XeSS work. AMD in general did not want to work on the complicated stuff related to AI.

    2. It’s fun and games for hackers to leak stuff to the web.
If AMD puts even a little bit of Nvidia code into their stuff they’ll be f*cked.

  1. AMD & Intel already have a very good understanding of DLSS. This is not as much of a blow to Nvidia as you might think.

    1. Intel is the only one with a DLSS competitor so I don’t know how you can make that claim about AMD lol

      1. AMD probably can do it. but knowing how AMD doing things for a decade something complicated like DLSS is not something that AMD interested in wasting time doing.

        1. “Wasting time”??? It would at least partially put them back on the map!
Nah, they just couldn’t get it to be good enough.

      2. They have no doubt a good understanding of the tech, I’m sure they have “dissected” it over and over already. What they currently don’t have is the dedicated hardware to drive it IE something similar would bog down the compute clusters too much eating up it’s potential gains and thus have to resort into pretty much regular upscaling instead

We will no doubt see something in the line of dlss in the next iteration and would not be surprised if we also see more silicon towards ray tracing too

          1. Its a competitive market and some “cards” are better kept until needed most, for instance at release time announce an awesome bonus feature adding a lot towards the appeal rather than spill the beans now. We will see, suspect Amd will have some dlss like tech and i mean offloaded so it won’t eat into the normal compute

  2. It looks like it’s just the SDK.

Apparently the same hackers broke in to AMD the week before only to find a 30 year old algorithm.

    1. Do you think it’s okay for a company to work hard on a technology and then someone posts this work to the public? it’s a heinous crime! but oh well, someone like you spends his time posting stupid comments, so you can’t understand the work ethic …I guess you’ve never had a job, ah no, maybe I’m wrong … your job is to piss people off on Disqus!

      1. Imagine white knighting a corporation like Nvidia for free…at least tell us you are a green employee.
And i say this as a Nvidia costumer for over a decade.
