A while ago, Rockstar removed Grand Theft Auto 4 from Steam. Some people speculated that the team had removed the game so it can sell it, exclusively, via its new Rockstar Launcher. However, Rockstar announced today that GTA 4 will return on Steam via Grand Theft Auto 4: Complete Edition.
Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition will replace both Grand Theft Auto IV and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. Moreover, it will be compatible with current game save files. However, this version will not feature the Games for Windows Live service.
Doe to the removal of GFWL, the game will not feature any multiplayer functionalities. It will also not feature any Leaderboards. Not only that, but RamJam FM, Self-Actualization FM, and Vice City FM will be temporarily unavailable.
Grand Theft Auto 4: Complete Edition will be a free upgrade to all owners of GTA 4 and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. Those that have bought a retail version will be able to use their codes to unlock this Complete Edition.
Grand Theft Auto 4: Complete Edition will be available on Steam and Rockstar Launcher on March 19th!

Today it’s not March 19th
Oh boy, I haven’t had a coffee yet and thought of it as February 19th. Fixed.
Correct name should be GTA IV: Neutered Edition.
for real.. how is it “complete” without multiplayer? a better name would be “compatible” edition
It was removed because of licensing deals with the music. Hence some stations being unavailable.
That’s your solution, C**kstar?
Whatever, Steam version was always inferior anyway.
Sweet, hope the code from the ancient retail version will work indeed and won’t have to bother with their support.
“Not only that, but RamJam FM, Self-Actualization FM, and Vice City FM will be temporarily unavailable”
What does “temporarily” mean? Are these stations gonna become available later down the road? I thought licensing issues mean that they will be permanently unavailable.
Since they merging 2 games into 1, they need to add 3 extra slots for radios ingame.
You can use your own mp3s for driving music in GTA IV & V.
I doubt they’ll be doing much to the engine at this point. When it comes to PC they do the bare minimum, except when to take away music from the radio
They don’t touch anything related to the game’s engine, it’s a very old game these days. It’s just some platform and DRM tweaks that’s all.
I am unable to identify any aspect of this clearly incomplete edition that is “complete” or an “upgrade”
No multiplayer? Then what’s the point?
What kind of a fkin PC do you even need to be able to play this thing?
Back in the day when it came out, I had a Phenom II 955 BE which was the recommended CPU on the cover of the game, the game was unplayable.
After that I’ve tried playing it a couple of times with an FX 8350, and later with an R7 1700 Windows 10 with which I didn’t even get the p.o.s to launch.
It’s impressive how bad the port is.
Yeah that’s what I always assumed, but fkin hell a 2017* Ryzen should be able to play it.
Its broken on windows 10 as far as I know. Got the game to launch once but the buildings didn’t render. Managed to sort that out but got bored by the game and uninstalled
R* you Fcking Rtards
GFWLive still working, multiplayer still working. Why did you even pull a stunt like this?
With all that money you have, you could’ve transferred MP to Social Club (which would be better cause RGSC isn’t connectivity nightmare like GFWLive). Yet you chose the cheap lame solution.
Take 2 and Rockstar being the companies that brag about record profits.
Ah… that digital future, where everyone will now have to wrestle even further with “licenses”, “contracts”, and other such bulls**t.
What you buy today, is not what you will have tomorrow, at the whim of any moron in a management position of a game company. What a bright future.
This!
It’s pretty much why I think sites like GOG.com should be encouraged more. Unlike on Steam you’re at least given the option to choose what patch you wish to apply on your game purchase.
Watch a 2008 game be sold for ÂŁ34-40 again…
Is this a remaster? If this game got GTA5 graphics upgrade I would get it instantly
So, instead of trying to fix the horrible port, all they do is remove some songs due to copyright?
Fuq you, Rockstar, along with all your fanboys.
Grand Theft Auto 4: Complete Edition
– multiplayer removed
– leaderboards removed
– RamJam FM removed
– Self-Actualization FM removed
– Vice City FM removed
gg
Almost as dumb as that Metal Gear Solid collection on PS3 that was missing, er, Metal Gear Solid! ?
LMAO ! GG
They have a sick sense of humor, or they are just laughing at our faces.
They can laugh in our faces while we don’t buy their faeces.
They should’ve include Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snake because the graphics is on par with MGS2 and it will looks good in HD. But sadly it will locked in GameCube dungeon forever..
Dolphin FTW
Bad performance on my dolphin version. I wonder which version is best to play this…
It’s often updated several times each day so I just use the current-latest version for better or worse.
You mean the daily build?
Yep. I click on “Check for updates” in the “Help” tab so to update to the current-latest daily build each time I use Dolphin.
If they improve the performance, I would say it would be a nice way to revisit the game again.
