Microsoft has shared the official PC system requirements for the upcoming remaster of the first GoW game, Gears of War: Reloaded. So, let’s see what PC system you’ll need to run it.
Gears of War: Reloaded will have 4K assets. It will also have enhanced post-processing visual effects and improved shadows and reflections. MS also claims that there will be support for HDR, as well as for Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Plus, there will be zero loading screens during the campaign.
As I’ve already reported, this remaster will use the same 3D models as the Ultimate Edition. The devs didn’t update them. Because of this, the game’s environments can look blocky, and the characters might not look as good as expected.
Perhaps the best thing about GoW: Reloaded is its PC features and QoL improvements. For instance, the PC version will have support for ultrawide monitors and variable refresh rates. It will also come with a benchmark mode. Plus, there will be support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 and AMD FSR 3.1 from the get-go.
To run it, PC gamers will at least need an AMD Ryzen 3 (Four-Core) or Intel i5 Skylake with 8GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 480 / RX 5300, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 / 1050 Ti, or an Intel Arc A380. The game will also require 70GB of free disk space.
The devs recommend using an AMD Ryzen 5 (Six-Cores) or Intel i5 Coffee Lake with 8GB of RAM and an AMD Radeon RX 5600 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 / GTX 1660 Ti / RTX 2070.
As we can see, Gears of War: Reloaded will not require a high-end PC system. As such, it should run with high framerates on a wide range of PC systems. Now the big question is whether it will suffer from any traversal stutters. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition used Unreal Engine 3 and had a lot of problems on PC when it first came out. So, will history repeat itself?
Microsoft will release Gears of War: Reloaded on August 26th. You can also find some gameplay videos from its recent beta phase here.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
