Gears of War 4 – September update comes with new maps, achievements and matchmaking improvements

The Coalition has detailed the September update for Gears of War 4. According to the team, this new update will introduce two new maps, achievements, and will feature some matchmaking improvements.

Going into more details, the new maps that are featured in the September update are the Mercy and Harbor Haze maps. The Mercy map is a recreation of the classic Gears of War 3 battleground map that is set in the hometown of Dominic Santiago’s wife, Maria. On the other hand, the Harbor Haze map is a new take on Harbor that is set during the day, and introduces a brand-new mist mechanic that envelopes the battlefield.

In the coming weeks, The Coalition will be switching from Region Locked matchmaking (matching you only with players in your choice of Region) to a new Quality of Service matchmaking system. In addition, the team has improved the Skill Based Matchmaking to give players better quality skill matchups on top of better network quality. These improvements will be arriving on mid-September.

    1. I always said that you will never play any MS games. Games created by internal Microsoft Studios always be available only on Windows Store and Xbox:

      – Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon,
      – Gears 4,
      – Age of Empire 4,
      – Halo Wars 2,
      – ORI And the Will of the Wisp,
      – State of Decay 2
      – …

You will never play any of those games 🙂

    2. Once you install the game, I promise you you’ll never know the difference. It’s no different than Steam. They’re both locked down DRM machines. You’re really missing out on some of the best games on PC for no rational reason at all.
