First major content update for HUNT: Showdown adds new weapons, traits, hunter outfits and more

Crytek has announced the release of Hunt: Showdown’s first major content update, live now on Steam. In addition to new content, the update also includes a large number of tweaks, changes, and bug fixes for the Early Access title.

With Content Update 1, players will gain access to five new weapons equipped with scopes as well as two new tactical bombs and eleven new Hunter outfits. Twelve new traits, which boost players’ performance and capabilities in various ways, are also debuting with this update.

In response to community feedback, one of the update’s biggest goals was to reduce the advantages for campers by changing level architecture and layout, as well as adding rewards for players who successfully banish the boss. You can learn more about these changes in a video with Level Design Director Chris Auty here. In another video, Lead Designer Dennis Schwarz and Senior System Designer David West also address this issue, as well as some of the changes and additions to weapons, gunplay, traits, hunters, and audio.

Many smaller changes were made as well: the addition of fall damage, map readability improvements, a rebalance on player footstep audio, and much, much more.

    1. Yea. Also there’s a little “jerkiness” in movements. Once they figure that and performance out, it’ll probably attract more people

  1. Yea that’;s so easy to just put in the game. You PC gamers are an entitled lot of losers. Sad and pathetic.

    1. People throw around “entitled” at PC gamers too much imo. I regularly get called entitled because I believe I should get a superior gaming experience over the console crowd because I paid 5 times more for my hardware than a console gamer pays. Developers can do it but some won’t because it means extra work and if they don’t aim for some parity then console gamers will have a sh*t-fit over it.

I don’t think I’m being entitled. For example when I go to a nice restaurant I expect a better meal and experience than when I go to Burger King but I pay a lot more.

  2. I would definitely be interested in a single player if they did a good job on it. Even if it was smaller than what you describe as long as they charged a fair price for it and not just tack it onto the main game and force us to buy both.

  3. I normally don’t jump headfirst into MP only games, esp EA ones, but this game is so refreshing. It helps that I have ppl to play with for sure, but this game really gets the blood pumping and is always intense AF! Now I know that the folks behind Darksiders are ones who came up w/ this, and that makes me love it even more!
