Far Cry 5 feature 2

Far Cry 5 Patch 1.11 adds official HD Textures Pack, adds new masks, weapons and vehicles

Ubisoft has released a brand new update for Far Cry 5. According to the release notes, patch 1.11 adds an official HD Textures Pack for the PC, brings various Map Editor improvements and fixes, and adds new masks, weapons and vehicles.

Furthermore, patch 1.11 fixes a bug for Voice Chat losing functionality when switching game modes, fixes some bugs for general Lobby Stability when jumping between the various game modes, and fixes a bug regarding a trophy unlock issue for “Hope County Master Angler” in NG+.

As wrote in our PC Performance Analysis, Far Cry 5 featured highly detailed textures so it will be interesting to see whether these new HD textures improve some low-resolution textures that we could spot here and there, or whether they simply increase the amount of GBs that our GPUs are scheduled to handle without improving the overall image quality. After all, we’ve seen numerous official HD Texture packs that do not really bring any noticeable visual improvements to some games.

As always, Steam and UPLAY will download this new patch the next time you launch their clients, and below you can find its complete changelog.

    1. 100% this, it’s just sad how some PC gamers hate on them so much. Seems like they are still living in pre Assassin’s Creed II days. I guess they didn’t get the memo it’s almost been ten years since then, Ubisoft has massively changed and for the good in terms of PC support.

      1. Don’t some hate the AC series now because there is less stealth in it (Not that there was much to begin with)? AC3 was bad and Black Flag was okay, but at that point, I got tried of the series. Ubisoft has ideas, and some of them works. But they also have half finished ideas. Of course, they are not the only on ones in the industry with this problem.

I think the problem (at least for me) is that nothing that Ubisoft makes or have made for the last few years, has made me existed at all.

        1. Not sure, but the stealth is the same it hasn’t changed or been removed. If anything you have more stealth utilities, options and move sets now if that is how you want to play. You can play Origins entirely in a stealth play style if you want just like all the other AC games.

Really all they introduced is new play styles, new utilities, new loot system, and better skill trees, more quests, better traversal, a better open world, etc so it’s more like a solid ARPG/RPG now.

Yeah they have a certain style/type of games they make, sort of open world focused either you dig that or you are burnt out by now or it’s just not your thing.

Good thing is there are hundreds of others games to pick from from others so it’s all good.

    2. The day Ubisoft hire competent writer, they could get closer to be a major studio. Until then, their story and mission design will always be bad. Rockstar have great writer, Ubisoft have none!

    3. well. rockstar has been making BORING games lately with empty open worlds, kinda sad that they cost so much money only to look good and realistic.

  1. Hd texture pack?
It should he there from day one.
But it would mean that pc is better than consoles.
And we dont want that dont we . …… .

    1. How many PC games even have HD texture packs… I will answer that for pretty much none. At least Ubisoft made one, how many AAA companies that make PC games can eve say that?

I know it sucks and we should have them for all our AAA games at the least but I don’t see the point to sh|t on Ubisoft who actually made one. Then again I know this place generally hates Ubisoft…

        1. This is very true ^^^^, it’s better than nothing though or to have the actual console textures on the PC.

Can you imagine real 4K textures that are real high resolution and extra effort or the source(if that is what they where)! One day maybe 🙁 , one day…

      1. Many games these days just support “HD” textures out of the box, actually. Now that consoles have a decent amount of RAM, we’re seeing better textures all around. There isn’t nearly the need that there used to be.

      2. “pretty much none”.

Yeah, unless you’re completely ignoring every other HD texturemod pack out there since the beginning of time, as well as sites like Nexus mods….

Also be careful, your fanboy is showing.

        1. “every other HD texturemod pack out there since the beginning of time”

So Far Cry 2 – 5 all have fan made HD texture mods and all of Ubisoft other modern games as well? Same with all the other companies out there that make AAA games that have been released over the last 10 years all have fan made HD texture packs? That is news to me…

Also be careful, your trolling is showing.

    2. But yes we do, being as a high end gaming graphics card is MUCH better than anything the console can bring including the next generation.

  2. Gee wiz thanks Ubisoft. :/ Only 6 months after everyone finished playing it. Can’t wait to see the chopped and stretched out features that should be there day one drip fed over a long period to keep your other future live service apps relevant.

This industry needs a swift kick in the proverbial nuts.

  3. Installed Far Cry 2 today, runs like a dream and looks fantastic. I’m able to max it out in 4K with an additional forced HBAO and 4x SG-SSAA, 40-50 FPS on my ol’ 980Ti.

Plus it’s such a well made game and lots of fun!

  4. It would have been nice if they could have released it at the start….

Now that I’ve already played through the game twice, I probably won’t be playing it again any time soon. Nevertheless, I’d rather late then never with these things I suppose.

  5. Anyone know how to actually get this HD texture pack ENABLED??? There are no new options in the in-game graphics menu.

Some are saying there’s an entry in UPlay that shows “HD Texture Pack” as an installed DLC on the Far Cry 5 overview page in your library, but if you own the game in Steam, you won’t see that section in UPlay.

In my Steam library, I can see all of my installed DLC where it usually is, but no entries have been added for “HD Texture Pack” or anything of the sort since the 1.9 GB update via Steam was installed (obviously I tried restarting Steam to be sure).

In the gamerprofile.xml config file (under %USERPROFILE%DocumentsMy GamesFar Cry 5), there’s two seemingly relevant options:
    HDTexturesOptionSeen=0
    HDTexturesEnabled=0

I know the latter option has always been present in this file since the game’s release, but the first is not familiar. I’ve tried setting both of these to ‘1’ and there is neither a visual difference in-game nor an increase in VRAM usage.

Any ideas anyone? Maybe the changelog was more literal than we interpreted and they simply added “support” for an “HD Texture Pack” and nothing more….

      1. What is the setting mode labeled as? Just “Ultra” or “High”?

Mine was already on the highest setting before and I don’t see any new settings after the update. Do you own the game in Steam or UPlay?
