    1. That is not something this mod does, because it’s a mistake to try to fix that internally.

I recommend everyone grab the newest reshade and make their own graphical tweak. Takes five minutes, and you can get it looking perfect for you.

  1. Best Far Cry so far. Blood Dragon was fun, but everything else after 2 was awful. This is a great excuse to play it again.

    1. I though 2 was the worst. The re-spawning AI and breaking guns just made the game a chore. 3 was my favorite, I thought the villain was great. Blood Dragon was fun too. I didnt like 4 enough to buy 5.

      1. I didn’t mind the re-spawning AI as you learned to avoid the same routes. The gun breaking mechanic gave me one of the best experiences in gaming 🙂

Play it on the hardest setting (infamous) and with no heals.

      1. In Far Cry 2 there are guard posts full of enemies. But even if you kill all the guards, they keep respawning if you move away from the outposts you “liberated”. This was annoying as hell to me. Another stupid mechanic where you were ambushed at random by frigging pickups with mounted HMGs added insult to injury. Enough to make me stop playing the game.

      2. This is exactly what I was talking about in another thread… THIS is the main problem about this game…

    1. Enemies are less likely to pursue you across the map until you’re as infamous as the Jackal. Also, some patrols will clash with outposts, and you can sneak by.

Unfortunately, the respawning outposts will NEVER be fixed without the SDK or help from the original dev team. It’s simply too daunting a task.

      1. Just didn’t work. None of the mod changes showed up when I started the game.
I was also reminded why I haven’t replayed it in awhile. I couldn’t get it out of 1080p or over 60 fps, despite changing the settings.

        1. Are you sure you applied the mod properly? It definitely works with the GOG version. Tested on multiple PCs.

The dll file goes into your bin folder and the patch files go in your datawin32 folder. You should be prompted to overwrite the existing files.

  2. When people gush over Far Cry 2 they overlook what to me is the huge flaw/design decision in this game–one that none of the other Far Cry games have–that is at certain points of the game, along roads specifically–there are berms, banks, hills call them whatever–they are too steep to climb up–but you could easily clamber up similar hills/grades in all other Far Cry games–and also in real life–they aren’t high or steep at all !

This makes the game equivalent at times to a Quake corridor–there are 2 options: run/drive down the road and get killed or win
or run along side of road use cover and get killed or win.

In other FC games you can drive/run off cliffs/up hills— you might die or end up underwater or hit trees but you might survive and come back at your foes from 5-6 different directions/tactics, which you can’t do in FC2.

    1. I improved jump height and climbing in this mod. The game still has way too many invisible walls that can’t be removed, but this mod makes climbing and moving much less frustrating.

  3. For one thing, it makes the dart rifle a pain to use, as auto reload triggers before you can see what you’ve shot.

I just don’t like the mechanic in general, though.
