Elon Musk admits to cheating/account sharing in Path of Exile 2

A story surfaced last week, suggesting that Elon Musk could be cheating in Path of Exile 2. Players accused Elon Musk of being boosted by other people who were playing on his account. That’s what we call “account sharing”. And yes, as Elon Musk himself admitted, he has let people play with his account so that they can level up his character.

It all started during a livestream when Elon Musk said some really strange things about his character in PoE 2. YouTuber ‘Quin69TV’ broke down everything that went wrong in that stream. At one point, Musk couldn’t even use the Endgame map. On top of that, he didn’t realize how powerful his gear was, saying silly things like, “My staff is only level 62,” when it was actually one of the best staff in the game.

It was obvious to everyone that Musk wasn’t playing PoE 2 himself. It was obvious that he was trying to take other people’s credit. And finally, Musk has admitted to cheating/account sharing.

As Musk admitted to NikoWrex, he was level-boosted and allowed other people to play his account. This is the definition of account sharing. This is also against the game’s TOS. And then Musk says that it’s at least “special” to clear a map in 2 minutes. Well, it’s as special as someone getting 14/14 headshots in CS with an aimbot. Wow. How special indeed. Shame to Valve for banning those “special” gamers.

I can’t get over how funny this whole situation turned out. On the Joe Rogan show, Musk tried to show off his amazing gaming skills. Joe Rogan even called Musk “exceptional” for making it into the Top 20 in Diablo 4. What Musk didn’t mention was that he was playing with a turbo-boosted character created by other, more skilled players. So, the real “exceptional” gamers were the ones who leveled up his character. Not Musk who was just playing with an already super-powered character.

Imagine if in Counter-Strike someone was ranking in the Top 20 just because someone else was playing his account. That’s how laughably ridiculous this situation is. Or if someone was in the Top 20 in Starcraft 2, a game that requires a lot of strategy and knowledge. I’m using SC2 as an example because it’s REALLY HARD to get to the top ranks. Now imagine if someone was saying that he’s in the Top 20, only because other people were playing with his account. You can’t be THAT stupid, can you?

At this point, Grinding Gear Games should ban Musk’s account for violating the game’s TOS. And that’s the main reason why I’ve written this article. I don’t really care about what Musk says. That’s also the reason why we didn’t cover this story last week. What I do care about is how the devs will respond to someone who has admitted to cheating.

Let’s also not forget that GGG has banned a lot of people for cheating/account sharing. This has happened to “common gamers”. But what will it do to a celebrity like Elon Musk who has admitted to cheating? Will they ban his account like they do with other gamers? Or are celebrities more “special” than you? Is it all about money? And if it is, why bother supporting such companies that lie right in front of your face? Pretty interesting questions, don’t you agree?
