Elite Dangerous: Arena Is Now Available

Frontier announced today the release of Elite Dangerous: Arena on the PC. Elite Dangerous: Arena is basically the PVP mode of Elite Dangerous, re-packaged into a standalone product. In order to celebrate this announcement, Frontier has also released a new trailer for Elite Dangerous: Arena that can be viewed below.

All players who own Elite Dangerous or Elite Dangerous: Horizons will already have access to it the PVP mode, and will be able to play against those owning Elite Dangerous: Arena.

As Frontier noted:

“This will open Elite Dangerous to a whole new group of players, all of whom you can play against in the Close Quarter Combat Championships (CQC) in Arena mode in Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons. So if you haven’t played CQC already we have a number of challenges starting today that you can join in with.”

Elite Dangerous: Arena is available to new players right now on Frontier’s store and on Steam for £4.99/$7.49.

Enjoy!

  1. Ever since they released Horizons I have been really put off supporting this game.

I bought Elite during beta and though I enjoyed the game at first, it got quite boring really fast. The announcement of Horizons was a breath of fresh because it offered something new to do but when I saw that they were charging more for the expansion than I paid for the original game I realised how greedy Frontier were being. Looking through the store on the website they are asking ~£10 for ship skins too! £10 for a single texture!? I remember when these were free, via mods.

I am surprised to see that Frontier arent charging existing players for the addition of Arena mode too.

    1. They probably did so so they can claim they’re still supporting existing players with free updates.
Did they convince you? Neither me.
