Larian Studios announced today the Enhanced Edition for its RPG, Divinity: Original Sin. While this Enhanced Edition will be completely free to everyone who owns Original Sin, Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is described as a new game and your saves won’t be compatible with this new version.
Here are the game’s new key features:
- All characters are now fully voiced by AAA-voice actors
- New quests, new characters, and new content
- Entirely new gameplay modes and character builds
- A heavily rewritten story with a brand new ending
- Massively reworked visuals and sound effects
- And much more to be announced in the coming months
As said, Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition is advertised as a completely separate game and not an update to Divinity: Original Sin.
“Both games will remain available on PC and Mac, and it is important to note that they are totally different entities, so if you’ve already bought Original Sin you’ll see separate listings for Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition in your Steam Library. This means that saved games can’t be transferred from Divinity: Original Sin to the Enhanced Edition. This is largely because of the technical changes we’ve made to how the game looks and feels, but the story has also been rewritten so heavily that most saved games would no longer be compatible with the plot.”
Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition will require a 64-bit system and a graphics card with DirectX 11 hardware support. Those that do not meet these requirements, however, will be able to continue playing the original version of Divinity: Original Sin (that requires a 32-bit operating system and a DirectX 9 graphics card).
There is no ETA yet for this Enhanced Edition of Divinity: Original Sin, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Enjoy!

Good news for Console gamers since it’s a great game but it also means that their upcoming games will be dumbed down.
Not necessarily, as good as Divinity Original Sin is, I don’t think it is the kind of game console kiddies are interested in and it is highly likely it will not sell that many copies on consoles for them to consider making the sequel a dumbed down multiplatform experience.
But M$ and Sony will show them sh*t ton of money. So, it won’t matter.
M$ maybe but not Sony because Sony is poor.
Sony is poor but not M$. Look what happened when CDPR signed a deal with M$. Yes I know that previous Divinity games were ported to Consoles too but back then they didn’t have budget to work simultaneously on all platforms.
Now they do and Divinity 2 was also blamed for being dumbed down as far as I can remember and it was multiplat (correct me if I’m wrong). Not hyped for their E3 announcement anymore TBH. Specially after this whole Witcher 3 downgrade controversy.
Not necessarily, IMO the only reason this and Wasteland 2 are getting console ports is because they are turn-based games. All Larian and Inxile are really doing is tweaking the UI to be usable with a controller.
Some people accuse Wasteland 2 of being dumbed down as well. Anyways,,, the problem is not Original Sin. The problem is,,, upcoming games ie- “The beginning of the end???”
Held off on Original Sin for a long time (Blasphemy! I know); now this is the version I shall buy. Most probably on PC.
So, another one lost to console land then ?
What’s lost? The PC version will get the upgrade for free.
And next game will be made primarily for consoles.
For now. But this is how they all started. Let’s make a game for console. Lets make it playable on a controller (aka streamlining/dumbing/removing features). you know what, lets make the game design more console friendly. Next thing you know, you have a Deux Ex > Invisible War situation. I hope i’m wrong though
Larian already tried to make a console-like streamlined RPG and failed (Divinity II). No matter how fantastic Divinity Original Sin is, I doubt it’s going to be a big hit among the button mashing crowd.
True, but I hope they don’t pull a “inquisition” on us and make their game for an entirely different audience.
The game is niche even on PC, so yeah you are right that it won’t be big on Consoles. It won’t even sell 200,000 copies IMO. But the problem is, they can still waste their resources in making something like Divinity 2. Then they’ll be back on kickstarter and will be close to bankruptcy. Don’t they know these games have no market on Consoles? Then why are they wasting their resources on Micheal Bay crowd?
Oh we can most definitely blame Gabe and Valve for this as Steam is ran for most profit via least amount of effort or expenditure from Valve. Now when you look at Steam you could get confused and not realise it’s the worlds biggest gaming platform as it’s ran more like a flea market with any old tat for sale. Valve doesn’t care if one really great game costing £25 sells slightly less than 10 absolutely turd games selling for £1 each as it’s all still profit to him.
Think about this, Sony and Microsoft both take far less than a 40% cut from each game sold on console yet they are still able to fund console exclusives in an attempt to advertise and sell their consoles so that gamers buy them and continue to buy third party games which Sony and MS take a small less than 40% cut from.
Valve doesn’t need to spend money researching and developing consoles hardware. They don’t need to lose money selling consoles at a loss and they take a far larger cut from every game sold yet are totally unable to fund some PC exclusives for PC gamers or attempt to lock down some exclusives to benefit their customers like the console manufactures do,
I am really depressed with gaming at today as I come online to find out PC is losing more of it’s exclusives and that The Witcher3 was massively pared back to get it running on consoles and how the original footage was running real time on PC.
There is no company that attempts to look after PC gamers interests. If I owned Steam I would tighten quality control or at least use some of the profits to fund PC only titles to reward PC gamers for gaming on PC and attract new gamers to Steam Platform.
I am so sick and tired of seeing our exclusives up and off to consoles. It’s not because they don’t make enough money on PC as Divinity on PC sold as well as Bloodborne on PS4. It’s because no one cares about PC gamers best interests and it doesn’t matter how much money a developer makes on PC as more money is always welcome so we end up suffering from lowest common denominator gimped mainstream sh1t.
If you read that whole rant , thanks. I am really depressed today.
i am disappointed. their enhanced edition is a good gesture showing they are thanking the fans, but it is also just a bait for console gamers. you think console gamers can handle a game that is not fully voiced? no they can’t. they probably won’t even buy this game even with voice acting.
also it means more games will only support turn based combat just to be ported to consoles. good bye real time combat.
Console port of Divinity OS it’s no a problem, because the game it’s good now, but the new games can suffer the console JERKsation for idiots…
Great, my fav game of 2014 and now I really want to play it again.
I started my second playthrough 3 days ago but decided to stop playing after 3 hours. After seeing this news I’ve decided to continue when EE comes out.
Sounds amazing. I missed the game before, but now i will try it for sure!
i highly recommend it, to me it was the best game in 2014, EE will be even better
Consider me hyped!
gunna be sh*t
Well, atleast we have Star Citizen, the only AAA ish game left on PC. But nevertheless we have amazing indie games that console gamers don’t understand but are brilliant.
I love the types of games that are on PC so much that if I were totally broke I would pick even a budget bare bones PC over a console. It’s annoying to see Planetside2, Outlast, Wasteland2, Divinity Original Sin, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Talos Principle , Shadow Warriors, The Forest , Elite Dangerous all end up on consoles only to have those arrogant little fcuks constantly talk about how if it wasn’t for consoles PC would have no games when consoles benefit from so many PC titles end up on console.
In the last few months we have had Assetto Corsa, Cities Skylines, Homeworld Remastered, Pillars of Eternity , Dirt Rally ARMA expansion, Kerbal Space Program and Divinity on PC. All are amazing games made unique because of the PC platform it’s self, how many will be ported to console only to see the sequels gimped???
The problem is rise of Early Access and Broken games. It has made a lot of devs lazy as fvck. Most of them just use it as cash grab. Back then publishing games was harder which had its negative sides but positive sides too.
Devs used to find publishers or multiple partners to make a game. They knew, failure was not an option. Now every noob can make a “game” in one week and put that cash grab on Early access. It’s all about making money now.
PC community is also the part of the problem. As long as Console noobs will keep buying COD and FIFA, there won’t be any innovation and as long as PC gamers will keep buying early access cash grabs, there won’t be a big difference. Luckily we still have some dedicated PC devs and some old ones like Epic and GSC guys are coming back. While I’m not disappointed by Original Sin appearing on Consoles but at the same time I can see them doing what they did with Divinity 2. Dumbed down future projects.
I wished Steam was more hands on and used some of the mountains of profits to fund some PC specific exclusives to treat the fanbase that makes them so much money. If I owned Steam I would genuinely use some of the mountains of profits to fund a few marquee PC exclusives to reward the loyal gamers who spend lots of money on Steam. It would also be beneficial in attracting new gamers to the Steam platform where they would presumably continue buying games on Steam which amounts to a 40% cut each time for Valve. So win/win you would imagine?. The problem is for some , you know what’s better than lots of money?. Even more money…..
Steam is being ran like a flea market or car boot sale, there are far too many poor games being allowed on the platform as Valve knows they will eventually sell for a £1 each and lots will buy them
Valve just cares about making money. They don’t care if there are hundreds of broken games on Steam because more games = more money. But they always say stuff like “Oh PC is open platform so that’s OK… We don’t want to restrict anyone”. While in fact, they don’t want to hurt their revenue.
Agreed mate, they use the whole “grass roots” low level development thing as an excuse to have the bar set really low. The are happy to sit back and count the cash.
It’s okay saying PC is an open platform but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be trying to fund some PC specific titles for us gamers. Can you imagine if they partnered with Intel , AMD and or NVIDIA to fund some PC specific titles?.
The less 32 Bit OS games the better.
GTFO shill, it’s a crowd founded game, there will be no paid shillary here
piss off dude you don’t know a thing. you sound like a new age gamer pile of garbage.
lol ok 30years old experienced shill with original name. sorry if my name is not original but it’s real. i don’t care what your looking for, i own this game too and it’s a great game, you are the one who is crying about cry babies. be happy and play in traffic
like I said piss off I see people complaining about downgrade. it’s not crying you net d bag. go back to reddit
then you are complaining about complains, if it bothers you that people are complaining then why are you complaining about it ? it’s worst than crying because it’s hypocrisy. also i don’t know what d bag means and looks like reddit did something serious to you, i can feel the hate, lol. and i only have one post on reddit on Totalbiscuit’s sub about his cancer being treated.
who cares what I am doing. you are taking it way to personal. And making fun of my Wife in your other comments just shows how much of a punk you are. now again. Piss off. And like Totalbis I had Cancer and infact I had two forms of cancer. And went threw Chemo.
you are still ignorant, you can’t help it, you can’t even remember that you are the one who started it, also not just with me or on this site
where are you getting those numbers from? pretty sure valve sony and microsoft all take 30%
im one of the guys that buys lots of indie games costing normally less than 15$ and i find em normally way better experiences than the likes of the games such as the one you mentioned (the witcher 3) which to me, to put it into your own words, it look as if catering to the “lowest common denominator gimped mainstream sh*t”. a guy against the whole world with romance, killing dragons and stuff? that seems as mainstream as it can get to me
what i love about PC gaming is the indie scene so im happy with stuff as it is

I love the indie games on PC as well mate and games that I would class as just PC centric. In the last few months we have had Assetto Corsa, Pillars of Eternity, Cities Skylines, Homeworld Remastered , Kerbal Space Program , Divinity Original Sin to name a few. I am also looking forward to BeamNG
I thought the license fee cut the console manufactures took was also higher until someone reminded me of the retail fees cuts as well. Even if the license fees cuts for consoles is larger , they still have to account for hardware research and development as well as selling consoles at a loss while Valve doesn’t need to deal with that aspect.
I was just disheartened to see how far CD Projekt have deceived PC gamers which is a shame as the PC platform is what helped them succeed. I never pirate my games in the naive hope that if I support a developer then they will support PC but it seems that in every single instance even more money is better than lots of money. See the PC has no one looking after our interests like consoles have so lots of our big PC franchises make the jump to consoles and PC gamers always suffer for it.
I do believe that Valve should be funding some PC exclusives for Steam as this would ensure the games are aimed at PC gamers which would make a nice gesture for all the people who support Steam. It would also benefit Valve as I am sure a few well made exclusives would attract more new gamers to Steam??
well thats the thing about being an open platform i guess. nobody is looking out for it because nobody owns it which IMO it has its advantages and its disadvantages. at the end of the day if you want big budget games then consoles are a “necessary evil”
all those indies are kind of mainstream indies by the way. kind of like saying minecraft is an indie :p
I disagree that we need consoles for big budget games or games that push hardware. What we need is for a group of businesses that benefit from PC gaming to get together and support it in a way that’s beneficial to them and PC gamers. I am sure the likes of NVIDIA, Intel and or AMD would benefit from some big PC exclusives that run well on all their hardware configurations?.
Valve should be funding some decent PC exclusives in an attempt to advertise and sell Steam. On average a console exclusive sells around 4 million, some of the biggest ones like Mario Kart manage 12 million but that’s rare. Many sell between 2 to 4 million and I am positive PC exclusives would sell that much if they were designed from the ground up for PC, good games and ran on lots of different hardware.
Also those games I listed, I said that I don’t just like indie games but PC centric titles. These are the types of games I don’t class as indie.
Just because no one owns the platform it doesn’t mean a group of companies couldn’t get together for mutually beneficial project.
well i dont know about that. youd need to know the size of the market first. MMOs and MOBAs tend to do very well on PCs (theyre also “exclusive” i guess) but normally their requirements are very low in order to get as many people playing as possible
the few games ive seen that really try to push it when it comes to graphics are from korea, because the market there has really good PCs. rest of the world though? dont think so. just check most popular pc games and theyre normally VERY low on the graphic side of things (even if theyre exclusive to PC)
as a consumer i just dont care if the game im playing is exclusive on PC or not. sure it is a pity when stuff such as this happens (the whole witcher thing) but the game didnt need to be an exclusive to have good pc graphics. they just had to work on it more and then downgrade it for consoles.
they normally dont do that which is the problem IMO. and here i can see it working with maybe valve or nvidia or whoever paying them to improve the PC version. still tricky territory but i think thats more doable than just straight up exclusives
