Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Has Been Delayed To August 23rd

Square Enix and EIDOS Montreal announced today that Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has been delayed until August 23rd, 2016. The game was originally planned for a February 2016 release, however EIDOS Montreal claimed that it needed more time in order to release a more polished title.

As EIDOS Montreal stated:

“As we are now playing through the game in full we can see that it will require more time in post-production for tuning, iterations, and refinement in order to meet our high standards. In order to achieve this, we need to move the release of the game to August 23rd, 2016.”

And yes, we know; you never asked for this!

  1. Personally, I applaud them. Sucks we have to wait, but I think we can all agree it’s better than seeing the game come out in a state that’s not even fit for a pre-alpha (looking at you, Arkham Knight).

  2. Low pre-order numbers is probably the cause after that augment your pre-order debacle. But this could mean a slot could be opening for February 23rd or early March release of Rise of the Tomb Raider (PC). Hitman could be moved around as well.

  3. It’s a good call. Going to buy it 1 day before release whenever it comes out. No doubt. Deus ex games always had one hell of a story.

  4. i hope they take their time and improve the sh**ty graphics

the fact that it has been delayed for like 6 months make you wonder how bad would be the game on feb release.

    1. Its more a tactical delay to give it a better chance to sell more copies. August is usually a very quite month.

  5. whelp, since womb raider flopped im guessing squenix wants to make sure they have 1 game actually make some money by polishing it up a bit.

    1. DX12 is like vaporware. We hear about it for long time but still wait for at least one game supporting it. And that AotS benchmark only filled many people with grief.
I’m afraid that DX12, when it comes, will give like 10% more FPS and everyone will forget about it.

      1. I forgot about that technique when looking at FPS gains. Given that most games use deferred rendering, FPS benefits may be higher. So yeah, we still should have hope. But it’s a shame that we have to wait so long for that one goddamn benchmark.

  6. I sense a bad PC port, it better support 7-8 all the way with their recent talk of DX 12, last thing I want is a DE game being locked to 10.

    1. Or I could just stay with 7 and then hop onto Steam OS with Vulkan.

Either way DE MD isn’t build from the ground up on DX 12.

      Also “best” is subjective.

    2. The game has AMD all over it (Tress FX 3.0, etc.), so it would be interesting to compare it with Nvidia GameDoesn’tWorks. Vulkan support may be coming in the future as well.

      1. I’d imagine both going with it in the future.

I just don’t want the game being gimped because of the sh**ty card wars.

  7. THANK GOD

What we’ve seen of MD so far in no way lived up to the early engine screenshots, very rough, like they hadn’t fully understood PBR or their original PBR was too heavy for consoles or something.

And then there’s the fact that no city hub has been shown. “Set piece” style levels both times. I’m sure old Prague and the cyborg ghetto district are intended as hubs but somehow everything we’ve seen has the architecture of a linear level to it. Most of these areas were actually more cramped than HR’s already claustrophobia-inducing streets and sewers. The opera house stands out as an example for these maps having way too much hand-placed detail to be part of an open world. Makes me wonder if they actually had an emergency plan B where they would cut the hubs down to story-relevant bits and released the game with a 5-10 hour “cinematic” campaign. Shudder.

Lastly, there’s what I said on the last MD news: The energy system is clearly still unfinished or they wouldn’t run around with infinite energy in every demo. Having NO balance for an important feature like that, 3 months before release is alarming.

Every delay is for the best nowadays. If firmly believe that MD was in big trouble and now I’m more optimistic about it being released in a decent state after all.

  8. Good, wait actually move it to 2017! Take as much time as you need and make those dam boss fights dynamic and memorable, that was the only thing that was bad in the last one. And just give us one solid ending, no multiple choice BS, I knew as soon as the pop quiz came up at the end it wasn’t going to matter one bit because of the inevitable sequels, Hope they don’t do that again.
