Death Stranding is officially coming to the PC in Early Summer 2020

Alongside the PC version of Red Dead Redemption 2, the PC version of Death Stranding was the worst kept secret. And today, Kojima Productions has officially announced that the game will be coming out on the PC in 2020.

Yeap, this is official. Death Stranding is coming to the PC in Early Summer 2020.

To be honest, this did not surprise us. After all, Kojima Productions originally announced Death Stranding as a PS4/PC title. And while some thought that the game would stay exclusive on PS4 due to the Decima Engine, we always knew that it would find its way on the PC. And we were right.

Kojima Productions did not reveal any additional PC details, however we have high expectations from it. Let’s not forget that the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was incredible. As such, we can expect uncapped framerates, proper on-screen keyboard prompts, native support for mouse and keyboard, as well as native 4K support.

      At the end of the day, consoles are basically just low end PC’s at this point. Treating their community worse or differently is a lot like treating PC players differently because have older or second hand-hardware.

      I don’t feel like it’s common to find people complaining prior exclusives are getting released on PC these days, unless you actively look for them. Which is a bit…Well I wouldn’t say petty, but something along those lines. What’s the point is arguing about platform superiority anyway? We all die equal and alone at the end ofthe day.

      2. I’m just glad I can sell the overpriced blue ray player after only having played maybe 5 games on it. Wasn’t worth ever buying because Sony’s exclusives suck balls now.

          5. I’m not interested in just any game that gets a good metacritic score. Button mashers like God of War haven’t interested me since I was 12. Nevermind extended interactive cutscenes like Uncharted or Last of Us. Can’t believe Sony even managed to butcher Gran Turismo.

            Personally, I disagree because of my own opinion and well, simply because I guess I see those games differently than you.I guess. I don’t see God of War as a button masher, the story is just as important as the gameplay.

            And with The Last of Us a majority of the game is not cutscenes, so I don’t feel like that’s an accurate description personally.

            But hey. We all have our own tastes and that’s fine. Is there any game you’re looking forward to on PC this year or next?

          7. I was exaggerating because I honestly couldn’t care less about story in games anymore. Last of Us was good when I played it on PS3 but it felt short and only hit its stride near the end. Haven’t played God of War but from what I’ve seen it wouldnt hold my interest. Sekiro looks pretty similar and that didn’t do it for me.

            Right now just looking forward to RDR2, Doom Eternal and Microsoft Flight Sim the most off the top of my head. I’ve been slowly losing interest in gaming past couple years. Not much is appealing, especially if it s cartoony or has that over saturated colorful look like in Rage 2. I have more fun with games like Cities Skylines, Dusk, Amid Evil, and racing sims with VR and wheel support.

            I miss games like Mafia 1, Half-Life, Age of Empires and Red Faction.

          8. I hope RDR2 will get a good release on PC, I almost wish I had waited and not bought it on PS4 now because I’ve not had much willpower to play games multiple times these days.Will probably pick it up on PC when people start releasing mods for it if they can

            And those are definitely some great classic games, not many (if any) like them these days. I feel like the recent Wolfensteins nearly captured that sort of oldie-but-goodie feel, but fell abit short in some areas.

            I mean heck, the most I enjoyed a game in a long time was the Turok 2 modern port by Nightdive. I think all of us have been wanting a return to the good ol’ days at some point or another. Really glad PC allows me to play a lot of older games still.

          9. I bought RDR2 on PS4 as well. I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place having put over 30 hours into my PS4 save but not completing the story. I’d like to be able to transfer the save from my PS4 HDD like you could with the X360 but I highly doubt it considering Sony’s encryption. I stopped playing because 30 fps was killing my PC master race soul.

            Turok 2 was an awesome re release. New Wolfenstein was hit and miss for me. Haven’t played Old Blood because its engine capped at 60 fps and New Colossus’s story was way too cringy for me. Very good gameplay, but I much preferred Doom 2016’s.

          13. It’s a third person melee game. It is objectively like God of War. That’s like saying Borderlands 3 is nothing like Modern Warfare. I’m just not that into games like God of War or Sekiro. You can classify almost any FPS game as an ‘adventure game’ but that doesn’t mean its similar to God of War.

        1. I don’t quite think I am.

          They use PC hardware, the only difference is they have a unique API for optimization and their own unique OS.

          Other than that, functionally, if the hardware and BIOS were designed traditionally (with an open design, like desktop PC’s) you could easily slap Linux on either and they would function perfectly fine as a PC with unnofficial drivers.

          There is a reason there have been no difficult or delayed console ports this generation. It’s solely because the hardware is so similar that it allows developers to save time and money by not optimizing for highly unique crap hardware that the PS3, and XBOX 360 had.

          And at the end of the day, a PC of equal value with brand new hardware doesn’t actually outperform a PS4 or XBOX One in games without sacrificing certain things, such as graphical quality to beat the consoles in framerate. (Different story with second hand PC hardware of course, then it’s easily possible to do both, but then again, you could also buy a secondhand console to the same net-effect with the same argument)

          You’re welcome to disagree of course, I won’t deny your opinion, but anyone who takes the time to analyse both platforms on a factual, objective level will easily find that the truth is that from the developers end, they’re all PC’s.

          You only, don’t think so because you’re seeing the end result, the difference in style, cost, usability, and design etc. You’re the consumer, so you don’t look at the technical side of things. Which is perfectly fine of course, if you’re not a developer, you’re not required to think of it like that; I am not a developer, I just like to look at things differently than others because other perspectives and opinions are important to me personally. So maybe that’s why I see things that way.

          1. Technically yes, but until you can run Windows on a Playstation they can’t compare even if they had Linux. I don’t hear of too many people doing actual work on their consoles like you can with PC.

            BTW I can’t ever see Sony allowing Linux to be run on their consoles again. They’re doing a bang up job keeping the PS4 from being jailbroken right now and I’m sure the prospect of PC level piracy terrifies them. Something which has saved me from wasting plenty of money on games which disappoint within the first 5 hours. Sure its not good for the business at large but I take a vote with my wallet approach.

            As for cost/performance. I’d much rather buy a machine I can gradually upgrade as time goes by than commit to a console which gets upgraded at best every 4-5 years. At which time you have to practically throw away or sell the old hardware. Console performance can be admirable for the hardware they use but you can’t exactly watch youtube on a second monitor while playing Civilization on another, with neglected homework on a third.

          2. True, very true. I guess maybe I was focusing too much on the hardware there and kind of ignoring any argument about the software, and instead replacing that with a sort of what-if, then X happens argument, which isn’t fair to others. My bad there.

            There have been some strides to run Linux on the PS4 recently, and the system has been jailbroken, but only on older software versions. Sony has done a lot of work to protect their software, they learned from the PS3, I guess. Hence why on PS4 we get a lot of general fix tiny updates. Just to set back jailbreakers even further.

            Piracy for PS4 is still very hush hush, but possible with games released prior to the software versions which have been cracked. But it’s because it’s not so widescale that it’s gone mostly unnoticed by Sony…Although that being said in countries like the UK, Jailbreaking is a form of circumventation, and is actually legal. So even if it was widespread, Sony might not be able to do anything.

            (Also, sorry if I keep speaking too much. I have perhaps an annoying habit of over-articulation when I speak)

          3. No worries. I’ve been keeping my PS4 on old firmware for about a year now in hopes it gets jailbroken. I’d like to use it to emulate a bunch of older consoles on my TV. Thinking I might just sell it though now because that can be done for much cheaper. Only thing keeping me from that is the fact that EA’s NHL series hasnt been ported to PC like the other sports games. However, I’ve even lost interest in that almost completely because the yearly iterations are such blatant reskins and roster updates.

          4. Yeah. It would be kinda interesting to Jailbreak. Maybe you could sell it to a jailbreaker for a higher price than you’d usually get if your version does get cracked? Might make a fair bit of extra profit.

            Personally I’ve been looking at the Raspberry Pi 4B and looking at RetroPi for my emulation needs. Thinking I’ll just create a 4x Pi Cluster and use a 3D Printed Case to get more power out of it, one is enough for maybe up to PS1 and N64 at the most, but it would cool to see if more powerful would make GameCube/Wii or PS2 emulation possible.

            And it is unfortunate to hear about those annual franchises. But at least they’re not as inconsistent as say Call of Duty, right? Haha

          5. Thinking about it but not holding my breath right now. Its on firmware 5.55 which has apparently been jailbroken in private for about a year. Not a bad idea to hold onto it as an investment.

          And let’s be real honest, a lot of PC players can be very opinionated, with entire communities built around enforcing the idea that PC is superior (which it is of course) and thus if someone doesn’t adhere to certain standards of thinking, they should be looked down upon or insulted.

I myself have been condescended towards by people with older hardware for simply having newer hardware. I feel like it’s particularly common when it comes to the supposedly cultured individuals that worship things like the i5 2500k and 2600k.

            They fault people for buying new hardware with it’s especially recent offerings in the tech world having such little performance increases for wildly varying, but constantly unfair, price increases. I have had that happen to me, so very frequently, over the years when interacting with that side of the communities.

        1. Well, I think he’s referring to an actual GOTY and not a GOTY package that offers all content at a noticeably lower more affordable price with sometimes new, small, features to entice even prior owners of the original that didn’t buy the DLC to double-dip.

          Whilst I guess an actual GOTY would simply be a game with exceptional reception, hence the award. Although I can’t really say I have too much faith in GOTY awards when I have seen titles get said award that simply didn’t deserve it.

          2. Yeah, I felt the same. I gave up playing my PS4 for about two years and played nothing but PC for like the whole of 2015 and 2016. Just not much that came out. When I built my brother his PC he kinda ended up with the same idea.

            But over time, I returned to console because my less tech savvy close friends and family still played on Console, and I chose to keep my PS4 around because of it personally.

            I’m still curious as to what the PS5 and XBOX Scarlett will be like, though.

          3. I’m curious too, consoles just resemble money pits to me now. Not like the old days when I would’ve sold a kidney for a PS2. Not many of my friends play games anymore and the ones that do are on PC. I guess thats what being a student getting close to 30 feels like.

  5. Not too sure if this’ll be good or not, but it’s a welcome addition to the platform. I understand the effectinvess of exclusives, and how some games just wouldn’t exist without the big resources from certain publishers and such, but I’d never turn down news like this.

    3. Pretty sure Sony is fine with TLoU2 alone. They have plenty of good first party properties to keep their exclusivity in decent condition. God of War, Spider-Man, Uncharted, TLoU, etc. etc. Not sure why everyone seems to try and spell doom for a company just because they don’t have a billion exclusives. Some people just like playing on PS4, or Xbox, or PC. They always have, and always will. They are many, and for those people, exclusives don’t even matter. That’s just the way it is.

  30. Amazing how the big, bad “pirate haven” PC platform, has gotten a colossal surge in support over the past 15 years or so.

    I still remember buying consoles because I knew there wasn’t a prayer in hell many of the good games would ever come to PC. Only things that remain console exclusive anymore, are first party developed games. How times have changed.

    I’m starting to get the impression that the PC market, actually makes money. Who knew!?

    If you watch a movie knowing the plot, why do you even bother?
    The biggest reason I wanna play this game is that I have no clue of what’s happening.
    And I love it!
