Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios have announced that Dead Island 2 has sold over one million copies in three days. This is great news as Dead Island 2 looked and ran well on PC, even without any day-1 patch.
Going into more stats, over 11 million total hours have been played and over 28 million player deaths have occurred. Additionally, players have sliced in half 45 million zombies, and over 756 million of zombie limbs have been hacked off. Players have also slayed over 1.1 billion zombies.
You can read our PC Performance Analysis for this game here. You can also find here a set of 4K/Max Settings screenshots. And while the game uses Denuvo, we didn’t experience any performance issues with it.
As we’ve already reported, Dead Island 2 can run smoothly on a wide range of PC configurations. Moreover, this is one of the best-looking games on PC. Furthermore, I really enjoy playing this zombie game. In fact, I believe it’s better than Dying Light 2. And yes, its FLESH system is truly amazing.
Stay tuned for more!

Deadnuvo done it again.
Anyone else get the feeling John is shilling for Epic again?
Dead Island 2, scored 55% from PCGamer, due to it’s repetitive gameplay. For me it looks as though it came from 2016. Not a modern PC game, but something you may pickup on a deep sale..
Utter BS John. One million copies sold in three days must be console as I can’t beleive you and Dagoat bought 999,999.
For me it looks as though it came from 2016. Not a modern PC game
This sounds very appealing to me actually, do not tease me like that.
Knock yerself out lassie –

And the demon is black on top of that. Splendid and also great for modern standards.
Made me chuckle. I wrote a version of that in COBOL ~35 years ago.
Aren’t you too old for such graphics wh0r!sm?
I get excited by smart curvy ladies and performant code.
Performant code mastered by Iron Galaxy, which is a modern standard these days.
I kind of feel bad for him, must be humiliating spending so much on top hardware only to be sidelined by the large audience of mid level hardware and the companies that cater to them.
The game might be boring but the game looks incredible. You have to be full of it.
Incredible …

sorry mate you’re a steam cultist. only a steam cultist would even think about anyone shilling for epic. Only steam cultists bash epic. it’s just another storefront why even make a fkn scene about it
It’s a company that’s been fined $560 million by the FTC for scamming it’s user base and breaking privacy laws. It’s also a company that pays publishers for exclusivity, meaning they take away your choice as a consumer, much akin to the console market. It’s also a company that pays social media to promote itself which was revealed during the Epic v Apple case.
It’s a store that attracts the simple minded that come out with statements such as “it’s just another storefront” ‘mate’…
“fined $560 million by the FTC for scamming it’s user base and breaking privacy laws.”
Dont care.
“It’s also a company that pays publishers for exclusivity, meaning they take away your choice as a consumer, much akin to the console market.”
Don’t care.
“It’s also a company that pays social media to promote itself”
Don’t care, but what’s the problem with self promotion?
“It’s a store that attracts the simple minded that come out with statements such as “it’s just another storefront” ‘mate’…”
It literally is, it also gave me plenty of high quality free games such as GTAV, Dying Light, Elite:Dangerous, Death Stranding, etc. So even more reason to not give a single F about steamtard tears.

Well the “Don’t care” comments suggest you are the target audience, simple minded.
Target audience of what? Be specific. Also, read the last paragraph.
EGS. I did.
Im just freeloading their offerings, you want to imply im one of the poor suckers adicted to Fortnite, lol.
04:55 here. I should have gone to bed… (THAT’S NOT AN OFFER!)
I confused your reply to previous poster.

whatever you “bought” from epic spyfraud they already did more money to the fist scam company that offered money for user info, geez even i am confused…
Don’t type if you can’t form a coherent tought.
you , you are the target , defends companies who take time to steal anything they can from they’re users, and worship anything they say, you have a huge problem of delusions.
They didn’t steal anything from me. You are confused.
your info sold to the first scammer , imagine your name and other private info being displayed somewhere as “survey” ” quality control ” on scam companies
True he is simple LMFAO
And what are you, complex? lol.
Company loves sheep minded idiots, doesn’t surprise me
Are you trying to insult me? Don’t hold back man.
if you dont care you are the problem, people like you allow companies to do whatever they want , you might want to start packing because 2035 is coming
Not really, i don’t care about these specific issues that Wrinkly bought.
yeap you are the problem
if you dont care you are the problem, people allow companies to do whatever they want , you might want to start packing because 2035 is coming
well steam hegemony is a tough thing to fight with. do you people want steam to be the de facto platform for eternity? competition is good. good luck epic. and everyone else who tries to compete with the big guy.
The ‘you people’ refers to people who don’t want console exclusivity within the PC marketplace. Most people wouldn’t have an issue with EGS if they dropped exclusivity and provided proper forums / critique. If they competed, as other markets do, then we would see games coming back down to ~£30 rather than the £60+ price points.
Why do you care about a zombie game with 2016 graphics? Go fap to CP overdrive.
I don’t. It’s the shilling that triggered me.
I see plenty of games selling at 0 dollars thanks to EGS efforts, tough sometimes steam and gog have some deal like that but it’s rare. But in your case, you should be spending more since you are part of the cutting edge market.
GOG’s not so bad at maybe 400 titles, but then it gave away a few for free. Steam library describes ‘UNCATEGORIZED (3014)’ when only games are selected. I’ve spent too much. I won’t live long enough to play all these…
That’s the spirit, just play whatever you fancy and stop worrying about dumb stuff we have zero control of.
games on epic spyfraud are there because epic paid for it.
Good, they should definitely pay more.
people like you make me want to stop existing …human race ? more like oblivious race
compatition is terrible on sinlge platform , imagine the ps5 has multiple launchers ….sounds great hu? but what about gog???
Epic games is a company that been cought lying to indie devs, scamming them by not taking deals if they release it on steam, getting cought stealing data to chinese, and by far all Tim Swinney getting cought lying left and right until he literally went dead silent LMFAO. I never bought anything on epic store and never will, and I m more surprised who can even buy games on that chinese malware
who cares, devs make more money through epic and that’s all that matters. steam is the real thief here with their 30% cut. wtf for? why are they stealing so much money from devs? it sounds like they are cornering the market with the help of their very vocal steam cultist minions
Publishers do better than they would have if the game is garbage, but miss out if the game is great. Devs, well it depends on the deal. I have to point out though that a software developer makes quite a bit more than a burger flipper so if you want to fight the good fight for lower earners I suggest you start with the burger flippers.
Remember both EA and Ubisoft returned to Steam.
ubisoft still requiers the cancer ubisoftplay launcher ,ea not all games need the cancerous second launcher
Both Ubisoft and EA still requires the money, hence back on Steam.
but both still use the secondary launcher , ea with exceptions
Yep, we would all be happy if they left their garbage outside, but the point is that EGS just wasn’t bringing in the money for them. Enough people care about the exclusivity BS, lack of forums, lack of critique, etc. to make a difference.
You realize thata the sae stupid argument you made for all points brought up can be done to you too right ? Steam cut is “high” for Devs ? Even if it was true, I don’t care.
I agree with this assessment since i’m not a dev, but i also don’t care if EGS makes exclusivity deals since i don’t buy games on Steam.
you will care someday and you will be turning back saying ” you where all right all along “
How lame to try to win an argument by bidding for time.
i can´t travel to the future can i????
its not a excuse right??? there are other stores as alternative the steam cut is just a excuse for epic to monpolize, and convince delusional people like the ones we are talking to, that they are doing something helpful , when its the exact opposite
they make more money but as soon epic stops funding them , who is the real consumer or fan? in the end devs are always the ones to loose.
true they even told some devs that selling games on any other stores “was not a option”
Im even more sorry that you are a epic spyfraud lover … did anyone say anything about steam??? is it the only store available ??? no right? shove it up epic worshipper
i mean its not like Politically Correct gamer’s opinion worth’s a damn.
Indeed, but they usually shill for Epic.
Ctrl+F “epic” shows zero results in the article, feel free to bash egs but keep the accusatory neurosis out of it.
Where is the title available from? #MindBlown
You want John to embargo any news of this game just because it’s not on steam? Deranged.
Nope. But I raise an eyebrow at the BS comments such as best looking PC game, running flawlessly. This is a title with visuals from 2016 and enemies that spawn when you look away while the loot respawns when you enter an area.
And what does the game visuals have anything to do with EGS? Hurr durr…
I didn’t say it did. I noticed the article read like an advert for a game only available for PC via the EGS. Do you really need this level of hand holding?
John have plenty of advertorials dude, just look at his hundreds of Last of Us (available on Steam) articles, but the moment he shills for a game that happens to be on EGS you go nuts, lol.
Read the atricles. This is a title with ridiculous praise that was perhaps written for him.
You have to come up with better proof, try his UE5 demo shilling.
That’s why I asked if anyone else felt it was more shill than article.
You have to come up with better proof, try his UE5 fell*tio stories.
PC and consoles.

Is that supposed to be fun?

Denuvo saved pc gaming and yes, dead island 2 is awesome and well optimized.
Actually denuvo was proven to be completely useless on sales LMFAO
I played pc games since i was 10, and i can tell you, piracy on the pc platform got so bad that companies got shut down because of it. Ports to pc became ignored and when ported it was complete crap because they knew it was going to get pirated anyway.
Thankfully, denuvo came and saved the day. Complain all you want, if denuvo didn’t exist, the pc market would’ve been killed off years ago.
Also if this game didn’t have denuvo, i wasn’t buying it.
It kinda was anyway, you like this trash that comes out, especially in a so called AAA scene?
Take me back to the 2006 any day.
gaming died in 2014, after that with minor exceptions everything gone to sht. Seriously you ask people what is the best game they played in the last few years and they will say another souls games but open world and god of soy daddy of war last of woke ragnacuck.
PATHETIC.
I have zero faith in AAA games at this point, just release starfield to see with what modders can work with and be done with it.
Sir, I think you’re in the wrong neighborhood.
how is always online elite dangerous doing? Notice i am not even mentioning star citizen darkspore or battleborn.
Jesus what stupidity are you spewing.
First of all saying that youre been playing since 10 dosen’t matter. For all we know you a 15 year old kid that started playing games on PS3 era.
I would like some source to that claim that piracy on PC shutdown companies. PS2 is still the most sold console of all time and funnily enough piracy was rampant on that console. Piracy never influenced Ports at any major way , it was a complelty different market. Yoy speak as someone who has no idea what they are talking about, do you think Denuvo was the fist DRM ever ?
Funny you say that because Denuvo major appearance was around 2014 on a handfull of games, from that tiime to this day the state of PC ports actually got worse, so if we´re going to use your logic. Denuvo didn’t save PC game it’s actually killiing it.
That’s why CD Projekt Red and GOG failed. Oh, wait…
gog isnt making money.
Idiotic take. All Denuvo did was protect launch sales week of bad games that usually lose money anyways. When you have a SOLID game like say Hogwarts? Pirates increased sales due to word of mouth. That game was cracked within 3 days and the cracked game ran better than the official release until a few patches in. Pirates who can’t afford the 70 dollar game are free advertising. See the people that shill Witcher 3 as the best game ever on every forum? A lot of those people are pirates. Word of mouth advertising is all people trust now days.
You think people trust journalism who cried about Hogwarts or refused to cover it? Go look at any Pc Gaymer article. What are there, 2 people talking or none because they closed the article comment section after hiring clowns like Sam Maggs?
When you see a game use Denuvo it’s a red flag. It doesn’t mean it’s not a good game, it just means the game could be sh@^ and people who are smart usually wait for reviews of CPU performance etc. Games are hard enough to optimize now days with all the frankensteined tech they strap on to them like RT, framegen (both of those take VRAM btw), adding a malware CPU performance virus on top doesn’t help.
Also, this is when unreal engine is done right. No shader stuttering.
Another epic garbage that has lying sales
Not like it’s gonna sell another million on Steam. Most likely 300K at best.
Well if you see a game that goes day on epic THE DEVELOPERS/PUBLISHERS dont trust their product to make sales. It doesn’t surprise me.
I mean this is Deep Silver, they have a knack for dropping Steam:
Saints Row the Third remaster, Metro Exodus, Saints Row Reboot and now Dead Island 2
show us your evidence of this, Mr Keyboard Warrior.
Great exclusive for EGS. ?

oh no everyone hates this game I must hate it too to fit in.
*insert disk*
wow what a sh*t game, who would enjoy casual zombie killing with top tier graphics? oh no please give me a new Neil Druckmann game with troon segz please. or some Bayonetta weebshit troon game with giant bosses
” This is great news ”
i dont follow, maybe for the devs who picked up that unfinished mess and fixed and packed it up and released it, but the fact it sold well as a 80 bucks epic store denuvo game with short campaign, nothing impressive about it and old engine does not fill me with confidence for consumers.
Verdiginiz bilgiler için te?ekkürler , güzel yaz? olmu?
Well maybe I will give this POS trash a test, when I can Pirate the f*ker!
Oh and for f*ks sake – stop this nonsense about “best looking game” yada yada. The game look like Sh*t console trash per baked Dead Lightning!
Any game with RT kills this fa**ot by far!

so many triggered Steam fanboys… you love to see it!
Steam is a garbage DRM platform and takes 30 % out of the pockets of the developers. Even indie ones.
Whoever protects it is a tool.
Epic the same crap, just with better split, but China data harvesting tools slapped on top of that.
I wonder if consumers will ever want to actually own something they “bought”.
30% is misleading.
Steam’s cut:
30% for first 10 million in sales
25% for between 10 million and 50 million in sales
20% for 50 million and up in sales
The ones most affected by Steam’s policy are Indie Developers that don’t usually get a large amount of sales.
If you want to own the games that you pay for then only buy from GOG.
That’s what I do, “big” publishers can go jump off a cliff for all I care.
+ all keys generated to be sold outside of Steam have 0% steam tax. fanatical etc. all these platforms. 0% for steam . @terrence_philip:disqus
Same binary thinking I see in Ruzzian trolls “If you are against x, you must be for y”. Nope. Steam and Epic are both DRM loving money grubbers. It’s either on GOG or I don’t buy it.
Nope. Fµck both Timmy Tencent and Steam. I only buy from GOG.

Well, for each their own, but this thing is kinda garbage.
– 2015 graphics
– Zombies that are even deader
– Zombies
– Zombies (I mean, 2023 ffs)
– Cringe to woke storyline
– VO made by people that already turning into zombies (Tommy Wiseau would get embarrassed)
My guess is that people are willing so much to play a campaign, that they will buy any shlt that hits the market.
I would play this one if it is similar to the first Dead Island and it’s expansion, maybe.
Dying Light 1 is 2015 graphics.
Get out of here with your nonsense.
Those flat textures and dull colours tell otherwise.
cringe woke storyline? I watched a bit didnt see it.
1 million copies , bought by epic , hilarious!
The “combat” in this game is just spam a button like the first game?
