Cuphead has sold one million copies

Cuphead is a game that surprised pretty much everyone. This game is not plagued by micro-transaction, is a full-fledged title, comes with a DRM-free version, is well polished, and according to StudioMDHR it has sold one million copies.

As StudioMDHR stated:

“Cuphead has only been out for two weeks and we never could have dreamed of the reception we’ve received from our amazing fans! Today, we wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support. We’re excited to share that Cuphead has gone platinum with over 1 million units sold”

We strongly suggest getting this game if you still haven’t. Cuphead is a 2D game that focuses on boss battles. In Cuphead you play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or local co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets while you try to pay your debt back to the devil.

Those interested can read our First Impressions of Cuphead here. Below you can also find a video showing the game’s first 15 minutes. This video will give a small idea of what Cuphead is all about.

Here is hoping that StudioMDHR will be able to reach even higher goals, like two million sales. This game deserves even more exposure, plain and simple.

Enjoy!

      1. I don’t think so, but good luck arguing that with the whiny, lazy so-called “professional video game journalists” advocating for a “boss skip button” & how “skill doesn’t mean anything.”

Y’know, the same people who tried to push that whole “the gamer label is dead” bullsh*t a few years ago……

    1. Now I see what you were talking about, saw an article on RPS about how great is AC: Origins tour mode and why everybody should be praising it. It was a sad article about how talent and git gud wasnt important anymore. But people commenting was much sadder, about how they love Dark Souls but not the bosses, how can I say I love a game but actually say I hate one of the most important part of that game? Its like saying I like soccer games but I hate when the goalkeeper is blocking my shots to the goal.

      1. Exactly. Cuphead with a “skip boss” function would equate to “skip 90% of the game.” It’s even worse than demanding an easy mode in Dark Souls >.<

        1. Developers don’t really have that much control over how a game is played. Generally they offer an Easy mode and Normal Mode and Hard Mode and sometimes a ridiculously hard mode but the Easy and Hard mode are really just aberrations of the intended experience by the developer.

They dropped cheat codes a few years ago but trainers seem to have taken their place. I don’t use either and I wonder why the point of god mode is when it takes all of the fun out of the game and the challenge but it seems some do.

          1. Sure, difficulty modes have degraded a lot since the 1990’s, but that was the industry’s choice, in pursuit of accessibility. People keep screaming about how this was “necessary” because of the changing times, but it really wasn’t. They chose to do it & they keep choosing to do it, just like they bribe & in turn let these so-called “journalists” pander, yet scream & moan at them at the same time in regards to how “hard sh*t is bad & elitist & offensive & bullsh*t.”

Yes, they’re usually just copy/pastes with higher damage modifications & whatnot, but eh. At the end of the day, they’re still the ones who brought us to this point & they’re the ones who’ve reduced difficulty modes do “higher health & damage mods” compared to how they used to be about variable changes in gameplay systems, etc.

Yeah I’m not the biggest fan of God Modes either, unless they push you to play the game to the extreme, rather than cower behind excessive amounts of cover, so it’s a case-by-case thing.

Cheat codes are like mod tools; “why give something away for free when you can charge for it? :D” F*ckers.

      2. If I were to do a “tour mode” i would make it an easy mode where the player can basically walk though any challenge but everyone would make fun of him and the player would get an insulting ending.

      1. it’s full of american propaganda and retarded portrait of nazis but gameplay is fun so it’s 50/50 for me, i’ll either pirate it or buy it day one.

  1. No pre-order bonuses. No pay to win . No microtransactions . No lootboxes . No season pass . No platform exclusive .
We all shoud support games like this.

      1. DSOG is PC mainly. Got mine on GoG. DRM-free usually means I’ll buy it if I am on the fence about the game. Tells me devs care more about good games than avarice anti-consumerism.

      2. I never heard that term . if its on pc and xbox then its not
Microsoft exclusive . If it would be on UWP and xbox then u can call it microsoft exclusive . But u can play it and get on older OS and get it on steam or gog .

        1. How have you never heard that? That’s what Xbox Play anywhere games are. Gears of War, Halo, Cuphead, etc.
As long as it runs only Microsoft software (Windows, XB1), it’s a MS exclusive. XB and PC are one in the same, to MS.

          1. “Microsoft exclusivity” entails exclusive to Windows 10 & Xbox One through UWP, not “exclusive to Windows-based platforms.”

Windows 7 isn’t the same thing as the Xbox. Not to Microsoft, nor to anyone else.

        1. GOG supports cloud saves now. It works for every single game too, even if the developers haven’t added cloud saves.

        2. actually it’s a crossbuy, if you bought it on Xbox Juan you own it on the M$ platform, and vise versa
so the peasants did contribute to the game’s sales aswell as microsoft
who actually sponsered them on E3 (though very poorly)

  2. Actually it is:
    Steam: 602,342
    Xbox + Windows 10: ~400k
    GoG: ~200k
And Divinity Original Sin 2 is a monster:
    Steam: 782,590
    GoG: ~450k

  3. According to RPS journalists, Cuphead is an heresy. According to John Walker, games like this should be banned from Earth because they arent fun…

  4. Awesome, so cool and happy for the team the animation is amazing. Also it is really cool to see gamers still appreciating 2D side scrollers, they are still my favorite.

  5. hard games tend to sell better than casual forgettable garbage
there is a solid reason why people liked cuphead, it’s unique art-style and soundtrack

the whole journelist industry needs replacing, too many r e t a r d e d journos who doesn’t even have basic platforming skill, review platforming games! that’s like giving a license to drive
to someone who can’t physically drive, and then he blames the car for being too “impossable to steer, bad controls” it’s absurd

and it’s either that or SJW shills, dunno which is worse…
