Resident Evil 2 Remake was arguably one of the best games of 2019. However, Capcom originally decided to use the controversial Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Well, we are happy to report today that the Japanese team has completely removed Denuvo from its title.
As we reported in our PC Performance Analysis article, Resident Evil 2 Remake is mostly a GPU-bound title. As such, you should not expect any major performance improvements other than better loading times if you’re using a high-end system. Still, it’s good witnessing Capcom removing Denuvo from its older triple-A games.
Back in May 2019, Capcom had accidentally released a Denuvo-free version of Resident Evil 2 Remake. And according to some initial benchmarks, the Denuvo-free version of Resident Evil 2 Remake can actually benefit lower-tier PC systems. After all, the game appeared to be running faster by 4-12fps without the Denuvo tech.
It will be interesting to see now whether Capcom has further improved and optimized its game for lower-tier PC hardware. It will also be interesting to see whether the performance gap between the Denuvo and the Denuvo-free versions is still that noticeable.
Have fun!

Thank you, capcom
Good job capcom!! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/4f9e381f7c32d17d64be2a2b9df8a6b8c5703b3e6feb616e7d43a0add92cb6a6.gif
How do you completely remove denuvo drm? You either do or you don’t. Btw your article isn’t posted on reddit so there goes your revenue. What a christmas miracle.
> the game appeared to be running faster by 4-12fps without the Denuvo tech.
Sweet gaming journalists taking their time to steal invalid proof from Steamcommunity based on a single screenshot instead of performing a proper benchmark by themselves.
Why would you buy it in the first place if they treated every consumer like schitt for 11 months? You must be suffering from nerve damage if you think rewarding a major japanese corporation with money is a wise choice after they’ve removed DRM.
If they see an increase in sales after removing Debongo, they might consider not using it in the next game, or at the very least they would be encouraged to remove it eventually again.
It’s a little cucked on principle, yes, but it’s the results that matter.
You are dreaming…
Be mad at the pirates, not the company trying whatever they can to fight them.
No thanks. I’ll stay mad at the publishers for making dumb decisions that punish nobody but the legitimate buyer. Anonymous hackers bypassed the protection in less than a week so there was literally no point in keeping the DRM for 11 months until this day. A generic comeback to this would be that denuvo protects launch window sales but even if the game was hacked an hour after its official launch, there would still be baboons spewing out the same nonsense.
Capcom really is doing everything they can to appeal to the 1336 gamer so a backlash to Project Resistance wouldn’t happen in the future. They already bundled it together with RE3 purchase…
Sorry but that’s a terrible argument. That’s like saying why try to defend yourself from an attacker when you can’t win… you still have to try. Also you simply cannot argue that if people didn’t pirate games there would be no need for DRM in the first place. Luckily most pirated copies of games these days contain all kinds of nasty hidden malware so these people oftentimes get what they have coming.
Your trolling attempts are weak and either way you are an uninformed lab rat. Thanks for the chuckle.
Whatever you have to tell yourself to feel better. I bet you just can’t afford the game and hate when you can’t pirate it.
Its more a bodyguard that supposed to protect us from attacker also attacking us instead
No, not really.
Capcom has completely removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from Resident Evil 2 Remake
>Definitely a buy from me then
>I’m buying it because it’s a good game
choose 1
There is no choose 1, he wants to buy good games without denuvo. It is very simple you low IQ subhuman.
Then they easily could have bought it when it was released because CAPCOM themselves leaked the main executable with no denuvo shortly after launch.
Hope they ‘ll do the same with MonHun after Iceborne will get on PC…
I think denuvo doesnt bother at all because This engine and fox engine from konami is still the best for me, beautiful graphic with low system requierment,
nice. now 1.04 denuvo can be compared with 1.04 no denuvo
LOOOOL to people crying how they can finally buy and play the game now. Yes… because the drm takes such a toll on games and ruins the experience… give me a break. *MEGA EYE ROLLS*
More likely the story is that they are pirates that can’t afford to buy games legitimately and happy to see the DRM gone.
It’s more likely that people don’t want games that have an expiration date, forcing them to buy the f**kin thing again in the future.
I mean, it’s like beating a dead f***ing horse up in this b**ch, and I’m sure you’re not quite stupid enough to not know this, but I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt, and assuming you actually are.
Plenty of games are unplayable by any legit means today, because their cancerous DRM is abandoned, antiquated, or downright considered malware and blocked by OSes. Maybe you two can ram your heads up each other’s a**es, and put 2 and 2 together between the both of you. It’s a tall order I’m sure, but anything is possible I suppose.
Now take your condescending horses**t somewhere where people will even remotely care to hear it. Try the local mental ward, assuming you aren’t residing in one already.
Very childish and highly inaccurate response, but OK. You’re probably a pirate who can’t afford games legit.
Kinda like saying why try to defend yourself? Just let your enemies win and don’t bother trying. I wonder if you’d feel the same way if people were stealing your hard work.
Oh yeah because compressed streamed games are way better… /eyeroll. They are fighting the best they can with what tools they have available. Again – if you want to get mad about it get mad at the pirates that cause the need for such tools in the first place.
That’s funny, because until now the only way to play this game without DRM was to download an accident or pirate it.
That’s funny, you’re not entitled to own the game without DRM.
Yes, because there’s only one reason to hate this bulls**t. F**kin Rhodes scholar here.
Yes it does, it adds 40-50 seconds extra loading times and reduces framerate by 10-15, this has already been proven:

Now go KYS low IQ subhuman and make the world a better place.
Nice. Can finally buy and play this game now. If these companies want my money they’ll need to do this more often or better yet not use Denuvo in the first place.
Still waiting on the rest:

Good guy capcom. The only thing that would have made this better would be if they didn’t use drm from the beginning. Or anybody else for that matter.
Well then, Capcom just made another sale on PC. I’m sure I’m not alone, so I’m guessing Capcom just made many more sales on PC.
I’ll at least give Capcom this, when Denuvo has run its course, they at least remove the stupid pile of garbage. That’s worth…………something I guess.
Well done, Capcom. Sort of.
Imagine them slapping it onto RE3, as well as them selling it for £50, they can jog on if that happens. Already costs £50, so that’s one tick hit already.
Stop using Denuvo’s deceitful euphemism for its DRM. Denuvo does not just prevent “tampering” with the game whatever the f*ck that is supposed to mean. It prevents the actual running of the game under various circumstances regardless of whether it was purchased or not. Denuvo is therefore the very definition of DRM.
Repack pls.
Nice move!
A large uptick in sales immediately after removing DRM shows a clear message that there are gamers that won’t pay for DRM. This is a good game and I’d hope enough people buy it now to show Capcom and others that DRM reduces sales, instead of protecting them.
