Bungie has just revealed its latest game, called MARATHON. MARATHON will be a sci-fi PVP extraction shooter that will be coming to all current-gen platforms, including the PC.
In MARATHON, players will compete for survival, riches, and renown in a world of evolving, persistent zones, where any run can lead to greatness.

Destiny have always had laughably bad netcode – didnt take many minutes till I was over shooting someone in the face and having them die from the damage 2-3 seconds later. In that time they usually get 2 melee attacks in, which in turn also kills me.
Its a kill-trade simulator at best, the netcode is beyond sh*t and the company has done nothing to adress it in both Destiny games…
Theres no way im giving this a chance, on top of their lack of attention to their gaming feeling great in a multiplayer setup, the trailer just looks straight up crap with camping added.

If you mean replacement for the Battle Royale genre as a new genre that is capturing the eyes of developers, then yes. If you LITERALLY mean we’re now calling “Battle Royales” “Extraction Shooters” then no… they are entirely different concepts.
