2K Games has made Borderlands 4 available for pre-order on all platforms. And, as we can see, this won’t be a $80 game. Instead, the standard version will be priced at $69.99, like pretty much most games these days. The publisher has also shared the game’s PC requirements, so let’s take a look at them.
An $80 price wouldn’t make a lot of sense for a game like Borderlands 3. After all, publishers have already raised the price of their games when this console generation started. So, it’s at least good to know that some publishers are not following Nintendo’s example.
Some Borderlands fans may call this a win. A lot of people criticized Randy Pitchford for his comments about a potential $80 price. Personally, I believe this was a nothing-burger. It simply got more people to talk about Borderlands 4. So, it could be a marketing trick and nothing more. And if it was, then GG. Goal achieved.
Borderlands 4 will be powered by Unreal Engine 5. So, PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT. The game will also require 100GB of free disk space.
Gearbox recommends using an Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X with 16GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT. The devs also recommend using an SSD.
Sadly, Gearbox did not reveal the PC graphics settings, framerates and resolution these PC specs target. We also don’t know if these PC requirements are with DLSS/FSR enabled. After all, we’ve seen some devs including these upscalers in their PC specs.
It’s also worth noting that Borderlands 4 will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. This shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, Borderlands 3 also used it. The good news is that 2K Games has removed it from B3. So, my guess is that it will also remove it from Borderlands 4 one or two years after its release.
2K Games will release Borderlands 4 on September 12th.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

$80 haha, these ngas are crazy.
It won't cost 80 bucks.
its at 70 right now on steam. Still crazy
good luck gearbox, nobody cares to borderlands like it waas long ago
Good on them not making it 80
its funny how this game no longer looks cartoonish but has insane requirements now. Please stop buying borderlands games so they can make something else instead.
LOL. B4 isn't a $70 game either. At best $50, and that's being generous considering the state it will ship in.
Imagine John justifying a $70 price tag, cause is not $80.
Proper game prices on Steam always been around $50.
Shame; was hoping the price would help it flop
The optimisation will help it flop, looking at the system requirements.
I hate to say it but I have a bias against 4 and 6 core cpus in gaming pc today. All the consoles have 8 cores, Esports PCs use 8 cores, professionals recommend 8 core cpus for various productivity tasks. It's wild that 6 cores are so heavily pursued.
1. The consoles have 7 cores available since one is reserved for OS and background processes;
2. Game engines use threads. We have publicly available data that shows newer 6-core processors surpassing 8-core ones. So it's not a number of cores problem; the GPU is doing all the heavy lifting;
3. 6-core processors are the cheapest options available for purchase so naturally they get the majority of market share;
4. Processors are used for calculations like damage, collisions, AI behaviour and pathfinding, simulations/physics, and BVH for Ray Tracing (many of which aren't scalable, and none of which are being pushed in games);
5. No one's stopping studios from pushing boundaries and using more than 12 threads. They're just not trying. There are many who are comfortable pushing graphical requirements, asking for xx70 and xx80 series cards to enjoy a playable experience.
The only game trying to do something with processors is Crimson Desert. Let's see how that goes.
the standard price is 59.99$
Not buying at that price i wont buy a pc game more than £60 quid skidrow download it is.
The most worrying requirement for me is that you have to buy it to play it.
The BIG question – What will we get for that money? The bread? Then you want the meat & the sauce in order to call it a somewhat release worthy game… all 20$ extra each? Resulting in probably 100$+ without even the real expansion dlc's that will come later.
And the system requirements… geez! Coded in visual basic? Bet they made the recommendations with scaling and possibly even MFG duct taped performance targets
It's still 70$
Worse yet, it's Borderlands
Oh gawd… The game looks like Borderlands 2 with toned down cartoon filter and a little bit higher resolution textures, but oddly enough has even higher system req than BL3… The game was running at 30 FPS with stutters on console, in State of Play video.
As a token of gratitude, PC players will get two extra bonuses.
Symbiote Rootkit (aka 2KSpyware) and Denuvo Malware, because EVERY PC user is a filthy thief.
Serves fans of any 2K games right.
could be 10 no way in hell i would spend 1 cent on that after borderlands 3 garbage
Looks like garbage. Game is so ugly
"See, they didn't price it at $80!" But they have carved out content on day 1 and are selling it separately. The ACTUAL price for the game is $130.
Borderlands has been a $80+ game since it's inception. With all that "DLC" foolishness.
