Take-Two has announced its fiscal Q1 2020 earnings, revealing that NBA 2K19 has sold nearly 12 million copies. On the other hand, Civilization VI has sold 5.5 million copies. As such, Civ 6 is now considered the fastest-selling game in the series.
Take-Two has also unveiled that Borderlands 2 has sold 22 million copies worldwide on all platforms. In addition, the Borderlands franchise has sold more than 48 million units. However, it will be interesting to see how the next part in the franchise, Borderlands 3, will sell on the PC. After all, Borderlands 3 will be timed-exclusive on the Epic Games Store.
As Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told GamesIndustry:
“I think [the sales boost] is a reflection of the fact that the Borderlands IP is stronger than ever, even though it’s been eight years since the last release. I think there’s a whole new generation of consumers who are super excited about Borderlands. That bodes well as we head into the September release. We’ll see how it does, but we feel really good.”
It’s also worth noting that digitally-delivered net bookings grew, up to $382 million, accounting for 91% of total net bookings. Not only that, but 67% of the total net bookings came from recurrent consumer spending.
What this ultimately means is that Take-Two makes A LOT of money from both GTA V Online and Red Dead Online. So yeah, it appears that the “Games as a Service” approach is exceptionally profitable for the company.

NBA 2K19 nearly 12 million idiot people
Not my sort of game either but guess what people have different tastes. I can’t stand COD or Battlefield games but I wouldn’t consider people that do to be idiots.
NBA 2K19 is infamous for macrotransactions and ads in-game.
Man, what the hell wrong with you ? Don’t be arrogant about people who love basketball game and they do what they want : buy NBA 2k gamei , SMH… I love NBA 2k games so what ?. If people love fifa game that doesn’t bother me because I don’t play fifa games and I don’t buy it..
How old is Borderlands 2?
And woah 22 Mill? Not a single fk here .
i’m really glad for mister pitchford he deserves all the money, women and little kids he can get.
Haha, You’re Wild’n out man. If anyone was going to, it surely would be you. ?
And BL3 will sell 6 copies on EGS while everyone awaits its inevitable release on a non-cancer store, but console version will do fine.
> it will be interesting to see how Borderlands 3 will sell on the PC
We’ll never get the truth, is the problem. Epic and Pitchford will spin like their lives depend on it. Metro Exodus as example – sold horribly on EGS, but Timmy Tencent tried to spin with carefully chosen words “But it did better in the first week than the previous Metro did in the first week!” Facepalm. No $hit because the earlier Metros were unknowns and all their sales came later.
Then when THQ Nordic CEO held an earnings report and was asked point blank how it did on EGS, he rolled his eyes like “FML” and didn’t want to answer.
22 million?!?! No wonder Randy Pitchford acts like a bats-hit maniac
“Borderlands 2 has sold 22 million copies worldwide on all platforms” and more than the half of these are from the Steam version (11,218,936 copies counting in mid-2018)

So then, WHY these f*tards needs to be time-exclusive to the EGS cancer ????? WTH ???
