Silent Hill 2 Remake Mirror Scene

Bloober Team confirms that James has been stuck in Silent Hill for 20 years

For those unaware, Silent Hill 2 Remake has a secret puzzle. During the whole game, James collects some photos. At first, these photos seem like simple collectibles. However, they have a hidden message that only a few people have figured out. That message also hints at a cool theory about SH2.

To solve the puzzle, you’ll have to count things within each photo (example, the open windows in photo 1 = 6), and then count that number across the writing on each one. If you do this, you will get a letter. And then, once you collect all photos, you’ll get the following message.

“Youvebeenherefortwodecades”

Now what’s cool here is that Bloober Team’s Creative Director and Lead Designer, Mateusz Lenart, has confirmed this secret message.

This basically means that James has been stuck in Silent Hill for 20 years. This is a pretty cool twist as a lot of people believed that James had just arrived in Silent Hill.

There is a theory suggesting that James is stuck in a time loop in Silent Hill. And, if this message is anything to go by, James has been reliving everything for the past twenty years.

Again, this is a cool twist. And, to be honest, I really miss these secret messages in video-games. Hell, I even miss the mature concept of Silent Hill 2. You won’t get anything like that story in modern games.

Speaking of Silent Hill 2, Bloober Team has released an update that slightly reduces traversal stutters. That patch also added support for DLSS 3 Frame Generation. However, there is still no support for AMD 3.0 Frame Generation. Thankfully, though, you can enable it by using this guide.

There are also some cool mods you can download for it. For instance, you can enable NVIDIA Ray Reconstruction for better visuals. You can also remove the 30fps cap from the in-engine cutscenes. Then we have this cool mod that removes the fake “hero” light from James and Maria. Another mod completely removes the game’s iconic fog. Lastly, you can download two mods to improve the 3D models of Angela and Maria.

  1. Last update came out 21.10. and added FSR 3.1 and fixed frame generation. It works fine on my 5700XT. Then there was small hotfix for one bug on 25.10. and that was last one. I just checked their website and X and there is no new update. Im still waiting for them to fix dualsense haptics on pc. Its really good, but sadly keeps turning off every few minutes.

  2. Brilliant!
I was just collecting them for the sake of collecting.
Had no idea that it contained a hidden message, but never put too much thought on it anyway.

  3. Marvel Writing Madness. Over explain everything and leave nothing up to the players imagination. Not like you nuggers would have one of those after scrolling through tiktok with your finger up your bum during COVID.

  4. This game made me install dead rising 1, re4 remake, re1 remake and dead space remake.
I want more third person horror games

          1. I finished that game on PS2, even though it was janky, it got stuck in my mind.
Is the new one any good?

    1. yeah, very creepy stuff there. The butterfly refers to mkultra monarch, 9-11 clock time and I think in other places, don't think the japs aren't in on all that cult stuff.

  5. Remember that the original also had secret UFO & Dog endings.

Did they recreate those for the remake, too?

    1. Wait they did not include that? Soulless.
I'm not even into SH (tried to get into it twice) but know how iconic these endings are for the og sh community.
There should be a rule to forbid excessive cuts/changes to a remake, to otherwise call it anything else but a remake. "Based on Silent Hill 2" or something like that.

  6. great now we are changing stories. Remakes are a plague.

There is great video by youtuber what the egad where he explains why this remake exists and what jacob geller did to it.

    1. They don't even have the balls to stick to their "vision" of the game, they have to make it a pseudo sequel/multi-alternative universe of the original.
I hate this kind of writing made by hacks.

    2. He is an absolute r eta rd and you should take anything he has to say with hypertension inducing "grain" of salt. He is just the right leaning version of a radical t rooon, and equally as mindless.

    3. Egad is awesome, he was heavily influenced by Dave the Distributist, you can hear it in his cadence, very pleasant to listen.

  7. BTW toluca lake is a real lake(more like small reservoir tbh) between universal studios and warner bros which is not open to the public, it's surrounded by entertainment people and has a golf course nearby. It's almost impossible to see it. Creepy place. The 9-11's all over should also tell you something, this game released before 9-11.

But yeah I never heard of that in the og game, but I did find some of those polaroids or whatever. This game obviously doesn't include the og puzzles for the most part or they are reimagined. One I think I didn't see was on a doorstep on a house on the street can't remember it myself but vaguely. I'm guessing the 20years is a conception of the remake game being over 20yrs since the og version idk.

  8. I liked the original and the Silent Hill 3 much more than 2, 2 was good but it wasn't as scary as the original or the third entry.

  9. I used to come to this site- I'm blocking it. This garbage showed up as a notification on my phone, the whole headline, and ruined the story for the game as I'm playing through it. Get some editorial control dip$h*@s
