Beyond Sunset feature

Beyond Sunset is a cyberpunk retro FPS, inspired by Doom Eternal and Deus Ex

Movie Games has announced that its upcoming cyberpunk first-person shooter that is inspired by Doom Eternal and Deus Ex, Beyond Sunset, will hit Steam Early Access on November 8th.

Beyond Sunset will be using a modernized Doom II engine, and it will feature retro-like graphics. The game promises to have a rich story and RPG elements.

In this game, you assume the role of Lucy, an enhanced street samurai searching for lost memories. Players will fight in large, open, interactive levels overtaken by yakuza, zombies, robots and bosses.

The game’s Early Access version will consist of 3 episodes and the full release will have 5 episodes. One episode takes around 1-3 hours of gameplay depending on the player’s skill and difficulty level. Additionally, the game will stay in Early Access for around six months.

In order to celebrate this announcement, the publisher shared the following gameplay trailer.

Beyond Sunset looks interesting, so make sure to keep your eyes on it. Contrary to other retro games, this won’t be a roguelike (man, I’m so sick of these). Thus, we highly recommend checking it out. There is also a demo for it that you can download from Steam.

Enjoy!

  1. Deus Ex, yes, but only for the setting though, not the gameplay, which seems to be pure arcade FPS à la old-school Doom.

Nobody dares to make real FPS-RPG anymore nowadays.😢

    1. You’re looking at the wrong terminology. Try looking for immersive sims instead, and you might find a few. It’s a shame that they don’t get made very much.

  2. I liked the demo i played of this a while back, but the boss at the end was horrible. No matter how many times i tried, i couldnt kill it.
