Battlefield 1 – Server Browser Confirmed, Conquest Mode Returns, 64-Player Matches & Vehicle Details

The official Twitter account for Battlefield has answered a number of fan questions, revealing some new details about Battlefield 1. According to it, Battlefield 1 will take destruction to a whole new level. Basically, we can expect at a lot of chaos thanks to the Frostbite 3 Engine, so we are really curious to see what DICE has in store for us.

While the team could not reveal much about the game’s MP modes, it did confirm that Conquest will be featured, and that the game will support 64-player matches.

It was also confirmed that the game will feature a server browser, so kudos to DICE as a lot of developers have abandoned this feature in favor of matchmaking.

Regarding vehicles, tanks will be controlled by both one person and multiple people. Alongside planes and tanks, there will be a range of naval vessels for players to enjoy.

Generally speaking, DICE claimed that vehicles will be much more unique.

And last but not least, different types of melee weapons will have their own advantages and disadvantages.

    1. With the server browser independent of the game they are able to update the back end without requiring a client update. This is extremely important for us PC players as we are not held back by the certification time it would take for server patches to release. Read up on the benefits. I think its really the way to go.

      1. Have you ever actually used Battlelog? It’s a f*cked up Browser Plugin that’s just a nightmare to deal with.

Classic Server Browser is much better, by comparison.

P.S. DSO – “It was also confirmed that the game will feature a server browser, so kudos to DICE as a lot of developers have abandoned this feature in favor of matchmaking.” That’s nothing really to go kudos over, they already have the Server Browser Software coded, & everyone knows it, so if they even tried to switch to Matchmaking at this point all they’d do is incite a massive mob riot.

Their not doing a Server Browser in Battlefront already hit them, so their not doing one in Battlefield, that would have been beyond moronic.

        1. They have abandoned the plugin for a long time now.
How was it a nightmare to deal with? You download it once and install it, and it got updates sometimes.

          1. They dropped the Plugin? Huh. Well, at least there’s that then. Granted it’s been a long time, but my experience at the time was basically this though;

Login. News. Updates – Updates that decide by themselves whether or not they actually want to install themselves. Oh, Battlepacks……

Then you get to the actual Server Browser – failed to load. Failed to load, Failed to load. Failed to load. Oh, it loaded! High Ping? Everywhere? wtf? Reload. Failed to load. Failed to load. Failed to load.

            Good sh*t.

    2. Campaign was always accessible without internet, it just started the game normal without internet.

Not sure where you got your information from?

      1. You can’t access the campaign without having the Internet. If you launch BF4 in origin it launches battlelog

        1. I just booted up my PC without an internet connection, logged into origin offline and clicked play on BF4 lo and behold it started the exe and the game ran,no browser was open.

Can take a video of it doing so if you don’t take my word for it

  1. Just think about a Rush mode, where you storm out of the trenches under fire, and explosions with mud flying everywhere. With Stefan Strandberg (no doubt) in charge of audio direction, this will be a day 1 purchase for me.

    1. How about you actually wait for reviews and opinions instead of falling for the manufactured hype?

      1. How about you go away. I have all of the series, and enjoy every single one, but that’s me…

          1. No, you’re a troll because you write stupid comments and try to get on people’s nerves. He writes that Dice makes quality games, and you equate that to him saying “Battlefield 3 and 4 had no problems whatsoever”. You’re either stupid or a troll – pick one.

          1. Never played it, also Battlefront isn’t part of the Battlefield series.

      2. They have a long track record of making quality games. Why should this one stray so far away from their pedigree?

        1. Yeah, Battlefield 3 and 4 had no problems whatsoever.
Track records dont mean sh*t when companies change staff all the time, including core staff.
EA is infamously known for doing that.

        2. DICE also has a track record of making better trailers than games. At least wait for the MP reveal or open betas to make up your mind on the game.

    1. I hope it has Zeppelins that function like the airships from BF2142. Now that would be insta buy for me.

  2. If they continue on using a browser then once again i will not be playing this game.

Seriously, I cant even play with friends and gaming cafes because gaming ones have browser disabled thus no BF.

    1. Why wouldn’t you want a server browser? You rather have crap awful matchmaking? Are you aware server browsers can be in-game or you just confus?

      1. He cant use a browser in the net cafe. He wants the option to pick different servers from inside the game. Nobody is talking about matchmaking.

    2. Then that’s the fault of the cafe. Who in their right mind would block the ability to use a browser in a gaming cafe? And if they offer the ability to play BF 4 then tell them you need access to a browser they should already be aware of this.

    3. Why not ask that cafe to unblock a single site to allow playing. There IS an in-game browser, be it limited and crappy. Hit the “backspace” key once in game!

  3. The most important one still not answered. “What about skirmish (multiplayer maps with bots)?”
    F’ EA.

  4. “Battlefield 1 will take destruction to a new level.”

“Battlefield 4 takes destruction to a whole new level.”

“Battlefield 3: Close Quarters takes destruction to a whole new level.”

“Battlefield 3 takes destruction to a whole new level.”

“Battlefield: Bad Company 2 takes destruction to a whole new level.”

Anyone remember that? It seems like the troll-marketing has already begun. “Whole new level” in BF4’s case for those who don’t know meant “scripted sequences of buildings being destroyed, about once per-level, per-match.” Yeah, good sh*t!

To this day, I have yet to see anything in BF that “takes destruction” to BC2’s levels. I doubt BF1 is going to change that, either.

    1. BFBC2 had the best overall destruction. BF4 introduced the levolution very poorly. Siege of Shanghai was the only map that really lived up to its ideal of massive destruction. Golmud Railway reminds me a tad of BFBC2. It is terrible in that “game changing” destruction is essentially non-existent.

    2. but you see now that the game is made only for next gen consoles which are totally not weak, its gonna take destruction into a whole new level.

  5. How about some PC related news ? you know, Civilization 6 just got announced and will come OCT this year, instead of 100 MS/EA news…

  6. These are all standard BF features. Shame its still only 64 players, you would think by now they would have rise the player cap to 128 or 256… but no once again consoles are holding back this series.

  7. Oh my giddy aunt!

It is coming from a series he likes, that he plays, that he already knows.
“I have all of the series, and enjoy every single one, but that’s me…”
