Bandai Namco has just removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from CODE VEIN 2. CODE VEIN 2 came out at the end of January 2026, meaning that it took a bit more than seven months for the publisher to remove it.
CODE VEIN 2 takes place in the future, where the world is falling apart. The last humans and powerful beings called Revenants are trying to survive. A new danger, called the Luna Rapacis, suddenly appears. Because of this, many Revenants lose control and turn into scary monsters known as Horrors. Everyone must fight to stay alive in this broken world.
You play as a Revenant Hunter, someone who tracks and fights powerful beings. You’re helped by a mysterious girl named Lou, who has the special power to travel into the past. With her help, you’ll go back in time to change important events. By doing this, you’ll learn secret information, change the fate of other Revenants, and try to save the future.
To be honest, I was really disappointed with CODE VEIN 2. When it launched, it looked like a PS3-era game, and I’m not exaggerating here. The game had MAJOR graphical issues. Not only that, but its visuals did not justify its huge GPU requirements.
Anyway, the removal of Denuvo from CODE VEIN 2 should not come as a huge surprise. After all, Bandai Namco has already removed it from a couple of its PC games. For example, the publisher has removed Denuvo from Tekken 7 and NARUTO TO BORUTO: SHINOBI STRIKER.
Another publisher that has removed Denuvo from its latest PC releases is Square Enix. Square Enix has removed it from DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake. In December 2025, they also removed it from Just Cause 3. Not only that, but they have removed it from The Diofield Chronicle, VALKYRIE ELYSIUM, TRIANGLE STRATEGY, LIVE A LIVE, and Forspoken. Moreover, both Octopath Traveler and its sequel no longer use it. And that’s not all. In May 2024, SE removed it from Star Ocean The Second Story R. Finally, in March 2025, the publisher removed it from Final Fantasy 16.
Capcom is another publisher that has removed Denuvo from a lot of its games. In November 2025, they removed it from Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny. Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, and Resident Evil Village are also Denuvo-free as we speak. Similarly, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake no longer use it. In July 2025, the Japanese team also removed it from Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. Plus, Capcom has recently removed it from Resident Evil 4 Remake.
In March 2023, KRAFTON removed Denuvo from The Callisto Protocol. NEOWIZ has also removed it from its Souls-like game, Lies of P. In October 2024, Gearbox removed it from Homeworld 3, too.
And that’s not all. Yesterday, IO Interactive removed Denuvo from 007 First Light. Bethesda’s Wolfenstein Youngblood, Ghostwire: Tokyo, Doom Eternal, and Doom: The Dark Ages no longer have it. Then we have Warner Bros, which has removed it from Mortal Kombat 11, Gotham Knights, and Back 4 Blood.
