Ubisoft has announced that after the successful launch of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 on PC on the Ubisoft Store and the Epic Games store, it will be partnering once again with Epic Games for the release of Anno 1800. This basically means that the new strategy game will be available exclusively on these two digital stores.
As Ubisoft stated, pre-orders on Steam can be made until the release of the game and everyone who has pre-ordered Anno 1800 on Steam will be able to play the game upon release and will automatically get all future updates and content.
So yeah, contrary to what happened with other games, PC gamers can still pre-order the game until it comes out on April 16th.
Steam players will also be able to play online with the same players as Uplay or Epic Games store players. As the French team noted, Anno 1800’s multiplayer modus is handled via Uplay regardless of your chosen digital storefront, and will always allow all players to play with and against each other.

Didn’t know people still played Anno.
Can’t wait for it to release! Looks amazing.
The exclusivity wars continue. Shame on Epic.
Ahh, poor baby gots Steam Stockholm Syndrome.
Stupid much?
whatever ubisoft.. no steam, no buy. no problem.
lmao Anno.1800-CPY
So if you pre order on steam you will have it on steam right?
Yes.
After the last Anno mediocrity, I am hardly any exited for this
Epic, making piracy great again.
Decided, “you know what?, screw this, Tropico’s out bois, and it’s cheaper too!”.
Goodbye Ubisoft, don’t come back. I won’t be buying your watered down, laggy Anno game before launch, let alone a year later. I’ll be fine with the other city management sims on Steam, as well as Tropico 6.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Ubisoft chose only morons as customers.
Oh no…. not… Anno.
Look at all the crybabies.
Look at this Epic shill
look at this Ret4rd
That is one way of boosting Pre-Order sales, making the Steam version a Pre-Order incentive.
like metro exodus!
Yes, exactly. Its now become a Top Seller on Steam simply because people just don’t want to deal with the Epic Games Store or Uplay.
and since people dont complain about uplay most of them will buy on uplay instead of steam like they did in division 2 so it will sell ok. Seems like people are want to buy games from steam and uplay but not epic.
Dear game devs- there are so many games I have bought on steam and I have haven’t even played yet. It’s free money people. It’s the opposite of piracy. That does not happen on other platforms. Anyway I wish u well on your future endeavors.
their games are great, but not their anti-consumer behavior..
Steam also need an action.. lower to 25% would make sense..
Should be interesting if they show sales numbers, this time people got no excuse not to purchase from Steam unless they really really want the game on the Epic Store.
Wonder if Ubi will release sales numbers to see if this exclusivity crap really works.
This game has no reason to sell well on Epic.
Hello dsog comunity, my name is… well call me Harry 😉
I was working on few big AAA games with studios that many gamers know, studios that are fair and honest with they fans (CD.. 😉 ) ,15 years in the industry on my record, okey, enough with my introduction let’s get to the point.
That whole Epic Store exclusivity is very sensitive topic, in my opinnion AAA studios SHOULD not do that, they already have a lot of many specially companies like Ubisoft which are milking cash from people very hard with they bad p2w model from singleplayer games.
Actions like this are very bad PR for the company, and are hurting community, and also splitting them which is not good.
I could understand, move like that made by a very small studio around max 25 people, with very big project a new IP and ideas, that would be more understandable, big projects need big money, publishers don’t wanna invest in new IPs etc.
Sooner or later Fortnite money, or should I say money from parents credit cards, gonna stop coming and then Epic will be in bad situation.
