CES 2020 begins in a few days, and AMD has claimed that it plans to push the high-performance computing envelope during that event. AMD’s press conference will begin on January 6th and the red team plans to livestream it.
At #CES2020, AMD will push the envelope yet again to make 2020 an incredible year for high-performance computing.
Join us for our press conference on Monday, January 6th at 2PM PT on YouTube!

Now I don’t want to get your hopes up as AMD may not reveal anything related to video-games during this event. We know that RDNA2 is coming and that its new GPUs may support Ray Tracing. However, I don’t think this event will be the one in which the red team will make such a reveal.
On the other hand, AMD revealed the Radeon VII during CES 2019. Furthermore, the red team revealed the release date window for its 3rd generation Ryzen CPUs at CES 2019 too. So we may indeed get something interesting during this event.
Stay tuned for more!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. “May”….We have known for a while that AMD like any vendor will support ray tracing.
It’s only a matter of when, and how far can they push performance in that department.
I’m sure matching Turing is within reach of them but Nvidia will release Ampere in 2020. That’s the problem for AMD.
It’s AMD bound to disappoint.
Zen2 is the third generation Ryzen CPUs.
Zen1 = first generation
Zen+ = second generation
Zen2 = third generation
Zen3 = fourth generation
That was a comment about the reveal of the release date window for the Zen3 at CES 2019. Last year’s event. I wasn’t talking about CES 2020 😉
I want some new info about Ryzen 4000. My I7 2600K is on its last legs and i need something good for next gen.
More than likely their SoC’s since Sony might reveal the PS5.
someone’s behind me
i want zen 3. zen 2 is still not that good..
Really? What do you find lacking with Zen 2?
i like the performance (i owned one), but still not deserved to be called 7nm because the performance is on par with intel 14nm.
Highly doubt, if that GDDR6 “shortage” really happens as predicted then consumers will continue to suffer dramatically. Intel’s craptacular introduction won’t impact mid-range and high-end for sure (apart from workstation GPU) and once AMD climbs over Ngreedia, they’ll turn their back to consumers as corporation, not a local ice-cream maker and unveil their real face.
These are some of the guessed announcements at CES 2020, and since their chances are high, at least in my opinion, we might get more details regarding these SKUs.
Something on AMD’s upcoming RX 5600 XT NAVI GPU with 2304 cores, 6 GB GDDR6 VRAM.
A slight glimpse on AMD’s next-gen RYZEN Zen 3 CPUs (Ryzen, Ryzen Threadripper, and EPYC CPUs).
High-End RX Navi GPUs With Ray Tracing Support on the Hardware level…I’m pretty sure some info might be shed on the BIG NAVI GPU. After all Navi 21 GPU Rumors have been spreading on the web chatter for some time. NAVI 21 might also have a DIE size of 505mm2, as compared to Navi 10 which had a die size of 251mm2.
AMD might also introduce their flagship HEDT Ryzen CPU, the Threadripper 3990X, world’s first 64 Cores and 128 threads SKU.
Some info on AMD Ryzen 4000 ‘RENOIR’ APUs, both for MOBILE and Desktop markets. I’m pretty sure Renoir MOBILE APUs are going to pack a lot of power/punch…
EDIT: I think Navi 21 GPU annoucement seems unlikely though. Hope I’m wrong.
.
I hope RDNA2 will support hardware physics on DXR 1.1 which is possible with Inline Raytracing on Windows 10 ver 2020H1

You doubt it would beat the 2080ti or the next gen Nvidia xx80 card?
It would beat the 2080ti no problem. If the 5700XT at 251 mm2 beats the 2070 at 445 mm2, well, do the math.
But im not so sure that AMD would make a die so big on 7nm+, at least yet.
They would also have to lower clockspeed if they have 80+ CUs unless RDNA2 is significantly more efficient then the first gen, and I doubt thats goinna happen.
Do you do this for a living or what? I always see your good analyzed comments in here and was thinking about whether you do this for a living.
Nah, no way ! lol….I don’t write comments just to get paid by some tech/gaming websites, and it’s also not my job either…..
This is a public forum/comment section, and no one who comments here do for this for a living as well..Not me at least…..It’s just my hobby. When I get some free time, I scour the Internet to browse few of the popular tech/gaming websites. That’s all.
I’m not an online type of guy either, as I’m always busy with my personal life, so don’t get too much time to write lengthy comments.
>Ryzen 4000 ‘RENOIR’ APU
This is the only thing I’d be intrigued by. GPUs worse than the 5700? Pointless. CPUs better than the 3000s? Not necessary for several years.
Expect some ZEN 3 details to be unveiled at CES 2020……As per one Taiwan newspaper:
“AMD CEO Lisa Su may disclose more details about Zen 3 architecture at a press conference during CES….”

How about pushing some f*king backwards-compatibility with DirectX 8, 8.1, & 9?
I hope AMD release middle tier GPU that support YayTracing in the future. So low budget gamer can enjoy that tech…
The problem is that adding hardware RT could push the mid tier GPU to high tier price :/
When this tech is become common in future gaming industry,every single mid tier GPU will have it. So no extra cost for adding it. For this gen,of course it will make mid tier GPU more expensive..
