343 Industries on Halo The Master Chief Collection on the PC: “we’ve heard you loud and clear”

In a new status update about Halo: The Master Chief Collection, 343 Industries’ community manager revealed that the team is aware of the huge demand for a PC version. And while 343 Industries does not have any official plans to announce at this time, it stated that it has heard PC gamers loud and clear.

“We know this is something many people have been asking and wanting for years now. Currently our priority is updating and improving MCC for Xbox and there’s still plenty of work to be done on that front. While we have no official plans to announce at this time, we’ve heard you loud and clear.”

In case you weren’t aware of, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a compilation of the first Halo games for the Xbox One that came out in 2014. The collection features Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4.

So yeah, while Microsoft claimed in the past that this collection would not be coming to the PC, we know have a ‘maybe’ or ‘possible’ confirmation. However, and as 343 Industries stated, there is still a lot of work to be done in the Xbox version, so don’t expect it hitting our platform anytime soon.

  1. I mean, this is wonderful and all but it’s going to be on The Windows Store and that alone means a lot of people will not purchase it.

    1. Indeed. They may have ‘heard us loud and clear” but their Microsoft overlords won’t be listening!

      1. It’s really not though. Xbox Live actually worked and allowed me to play online back when I had a console, and purchase a few video games. The Windows Store has never worked for me since I installed Windows 10.

        1. Thats interesting, since the Halo MCC occasionally drops its connection to Xbox Live and auto logs me out of the game.

          1. The game has issues, the director of the game has spoken about this quite a few times.

    2. Well they can go to hell. Nobody likes the windows store but if you’re really worried about that rather than it getting ported to PC in any way, you’re an idiot. We need the game on PC no matter how many idiots refuse to buy it just because of the store it’s on LOL

  2. I always wanted to play the Halo series… Hope it sees the light of day on pc 🙂 Just like the shole GoW franchise.

  3. Could be that MS is disappointed with how many have signed up for a MS Store account and might use the Master Chief Collection to lure PC gamers to their store.

Most PC gamers that have been around for a while don’t trust MS for good reasons.

    1. I personally couldn’t care less about Microsoft bringing their tired old game franchises to PC but as it’d have Sp4ctr0 Spencer and his ilk crying even more salty tears then I hope they do so just for the lulz. ?

      1. Haha! It’s hilarious that MS are forcing their console-owning customers to pay for something that, for the most important feature, they’re giving to all Windows 10 owners for free.

That said, we shouldn’t be too smug about it because MS will chip away at our advantage by slowly but surely making a Xbox Live Gold paid subscription seem akin to being necessary on PC in a variety of different ways. However, to ‘win’ that battle with us MS needs to make the Windows 10 Store an attractive proposition and I really don’t see that happening any time soon.

In semi-related recent news MS have announced that win32 games will soon be possible on Windows 10 Store as an alternative to UWP.

        1. Yep, that’s the one. To correct my above wording, MS haven’t yet confirmed whether MSIX will herald the arrival of win32 games on Windows 10 Store. It should seemingly be possible so we’ll have to see whether they permit it. They’ve already released the SDK on Github for devs to tinker with.

          1. That’s the last time I trust PC Gamer then because they gave the opposite impression. Suckered by clickbait once more.

          2. Maybe MS would simply like to make things more straightforward for devs by using a universal container (MSIX) so those devs who release their games on Steam and elsewhere might also do so on Win 10 Store without extra hassle.

There’s obviously much more that’s wrong and/or poor with Win 10 Store than a lack of games alone but MS has to start somewhere if they’re determined to make a go of it.

          3. Time will tell. Probably wise to not be optimistic when it comes to MS doing the right thing though! Given that I hope to see Win 10 Store fail and go the same way as GFWL then I’m hoping they stick solely with UWP, haha!

      1. Yea seriously. How are these idiots unwilling to use the Windows Store yet perfectly willing to use Windows in general? It makes no sense LOL

I’m not a fan of microsoft or the windows store, but protesting it by boycotting the store while using their OS seems stupid

    2. That’s fair but it doesn’t matter how they release it. They just need to release it. Halo MCC is too good of a collection to not put it on PC.

  4. What’s with all the spin? It isn’t a maybe. It’s “we know you want it”. It’s the same position Microsoft have had for over a decade. Non-story.

    1. It’s 11 years already with the same rumours. People that want to play Halo on PC better fork money to the team emulating xbox 360 instead. Or stick to playing with Halo 1 and 2

      1. The best Halos anyway. The only reason to want to play 3 or 4, mostly 4, would be the graphical improvements and the Cortana.

  5. “our priority is updating and improving MCC for Xbox and there’s still plenty of work to be done on that front”

Well, TMCC did of course launch in a disastrous state on Xbone so much ‘updating and improving’ needed to be done… back in late 2014. So, yeah, quit the poor excuses and give a straight answer.

    1. Is it still broken after 4 years?

” So, yeah, quit with lame excuses and give a straight answer.”
Wait another 10 years… when Xbox 360 emulation is solid.

      1. I doubt it so I presume the current work in mostly dedicated to optimising it for Xbone X. Either that or it was a lame excuse.

  6. I bet its gona be Win 10 only . Gona run like sh*t + Microtransactions.
Hey . If you cant make good games re-realese the old one .

    1. “Gona run like sh*t”
How dare you ? it’s DX12, it improves performance by a gazillion percentage per frame.

      1. IKR? LMFAO Remember that nonsense? Saying that DX12 will save the Xbox One and bring it in line with PS4. NOPE. RDR 2 864p on Xbone, 1080p on PS4.

  7. Not a surprise. They are simply focused on fixing the Xbox versions. Once they complete everything, they will just re-launch some kind of definitve edition. More money! PC included.

So maybe in 1-2 years from now.

    1. “Once they complete everything, they will just re-launch some kind of definitve edition.”

For Another iteration of Xbox. It’s been 11 years since Halo 3, and yet these rumours never cease…

  8. so what, it’s still gonna be a microshekel store exclusive
bonus if it has microtransactions or an ACTUAL subscribtion fee for PC players

because at this point, Xbox is dead
if microsoft gave a flying duck about gamers it would’ve been on steam decades ago
but nope, Microsoft clearly hates PC gamers

  9. When Halo released on pc+on steam that will give them MacroShock not just “Micro” because they lose another exclusive title for Xbox. That’s why they didn’t care

  10. I’m not trolling or anything, but is Windows Store really that bad performance wise? or is it just a few bad apples sort of thing which means everything is crap?

Personally for me when Steam first came out, it was a right pile of s**t, i remember everyone crying out for Half-Life 2 to be released without it…now look, everyone wants steam.

    1. windows store version use not 1, not 2 but 5 DRM.. some game run fine but CPU and GPU use are worst.
but one thing I can say most game works fine but the system usages are over the chart.

  11. So they’ll basically release it in another 2-3 years at full price, with no mod support and have it tied to the MS store.

Franchise is basically dead to me at this point.

Releasing it 2-3 more years after the fact that they released it a couple of years ago just means we’ll be getting an outdated collection of console designed ports. There is virtually no way for them to prove that the collection can be built exclusively from the ground up for PC, SE tried this with FF XV and I saw through that lie already.

  12. I hate to be the realist but even if they did port it, it would be a port. And it would be Windows Store only and never come to Steam or DRM free.

    1. No it isn’t LOL The highlight is the upgraded versions of Halo 1 and 2. They’re basically remade. Especially Halo 2. Those 2 are the only games you currently need an Xbox One to play so they’re a much bigger deal.

  13. Microsoft expects the ‘majority of customers’ to use Windows 10’s S mode
looks like the PC platform is about to be put in ransom by Micros*cks they are looking to make UWP Windows store only crap as the default “mode” on incoming retail PC’s desktop and laptops I really wish the Manufacturers like Dell, Acer, ASUS, and Lenovo actually fight this bullshit.

I hope ms support line gets filled with complaints of people unable to install Chrome on their Bnew expensive PCLaptop.

  14. Look i’ll be happy for more halo on pc no matter the platform at this point.

Edit: by platform I mean steam, origin, etc

  15. MS just want gamer’s to buy XBOX to play halo series.
Buying a XBOX to just play Halo 3 and newer version is not great deal at all even if you are the big big halo fan…

  16. “…we know have a ‘maybe’ or ‘possible’ confirmation. However, and as 343 Industries stated, there is still a lot of work to be done in the Xbox version, so don’t expect it hitting our platform anytime soon.”

Grammar and spelling, it is important in “journalism”.

  17. I’m just happy they’re open to the idea.

I still have a hard time believing there’s really that much work to do on the Xbox version though after 3 or 4 years.
