Red Dead Redemption Remastered feature-1

Reality Redemption is a must-have mod for Red Dead Redemption

Now here is a must-have overhaul mod for the PC version of Red Dead Redemption that everyone should download. Titled Reality Redemption, this mod brings a lot of graphical improvements to the game. And, in a funny way, it manages to… remaster the remaster.

Going into more details, improves memory pools which will result in better general performance. Moreover, it improves the draw distance of vegetation and objects, as well as the quality of reflections, particles, debris and more. It also improves the textures for John Marston, as well as most of the game world textures such as trails, roads, grounds, and grass.

And that’s not all. The mod will also improve physics for liquids like water and the Euphoria physics, as well as the AI behavior of NPCs. Plus, the game camera will now behave more like RDR2.

In short, this is a mod that everyone who owns Red Dead Redemption on PC should use. So, waste no time and download it from this link. At the end of the article, you can also find a video for it. This video highlights most of its key features, so be sure to check it out.

From what I know, this mod does not unlock the game’s framerate. Thankfully, though, there is another mod that fixes this issue. These two mods should be compatible, so you should be able to use them both.

In future versions, the modder plans to make it even better. For instance, he will improve the textures for secondary characters and buildings. He will also improve the cliffs and rock formation textures. Cloud shadows, sky lighting, and vehicle draw distance will also get better. Plus, we can look forward to a better weather system.

And that is that. Thanks to Reality Redemption, RDR can finally look like a proper remaster. It’s a shame that Rockstar didn’t implement these improvements to the game themselves. But hey, why go the extra mile when you know that modders will do your job for free?

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. Thanks John for bring this to our attention. Indeed textures looks much more high-res and vivid with this mod.

I hope there will be more mods for RDR since it is an excellent game but a little "outdated" on the graphical side

  2. Damn I wish there was a first-person mod.
I'll never understand the third-person view in such games…
I would have loved so much some kind of open-world Call of Juarez.

  3. There's a discussion / flamewar going on in the forums about that mod

One of the claims is that this mod contains PLACEBO changes. As in, you get files that supposedly changed and in reality they are identical to the normal game files. I have no way of confirming this claim, just putting it out there that someone else is claiming this right now. As a heuristic, I find there is at least some credibility to it because the modder never posts a COMPARISON. He always takes these random screenshots or videos of the game, never shows a before or after. And the things he claims to be changing are BIG. Should be easy to see in a comparison. So why no comparison?

        1. Nah the mod simply looks like this. Playing with it right now. It looks like witcher 3 with low textures due to mipmaps and high textures so roads look a lot better as an example, game looks like it has HBAO+ on compared to being flat. Player character model looks quite a bit crisper even at native 4k.

    1. The difference is very dramatic as you can see from the screenhot I posted in this article. The modding community is basically mentally ill a lot of times and people get jealous mad over the dumbest stuff lol.

It definitely isn't a placebo. The lighting/AO is different, roads look stupidly better, skybox looks way better. The file size was very small so it must use some kind of alteration to mipmaps like higher texture settings does in Witcher 3.

  4. The base game still have bugs and visual glitches. It will be criminal of rockstar if they don't fix them while asking 50 dollars for a 14 years old game.

  5. Memory pools?!? Oh FFS don't tell me they kept this a 32 bit EXE in 20 freaking 24

Even Ubisoft wasn't that damned lazy when the remastered AC3 in 2019

  6. Trying it out now. Performance seems same but GPU is still barely used at 4k DLAA. Looks quite a bit different with the biggest difference being the lighting. Cutscenes look DRAMATICALLY better because of the lighting. Seems like it has an ambient occlusion on kind of like an HBAO+. The upscales don't seem to change the artistic style at all. So far I like it a lot. The remaster should have simply had AO like this and at least minimal upscales like this has on all the vegetation roads. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5842b7ee43e16d4ac0e959f3f2bd5714a7d79384aafd3b0252cbcabadfb64880.jpg

  7. These nugger modders confirm they've never been outside with every "Realism" mod. Their version of reality is blinding sunrays flying at you from 360 degrees baked in white with minimal colors and contrast.

  8. It is a bit strange there are no side by side images and no comments allowed on this mods page either. Long list of "to dos" also. Prob not worth it, there are a lot of single mods for upscaling individual things and some would make a much bigger difference then some overall thing that does little or maybe nothing at all. I don't doubt this is a real mod and there is work there but not sure it's enough at this point to make much difference over targeted mods for say john himself and npcs or major ones in game.
