The moment all Diablo fans have been waiting for has finally come. The Early Access Open Beta phase for Diablo 4 is a go, and you can start playing it. Naturally, we’ve decided to test this build and share our initial PC performance impressions.
For our Open Beta test, we used an Intel i9 9900K, 16GB of DDR4 at 3800Mhz, and NVIDIA’s RTX 4090. We also used Windows 10 64-bit, and the GeForce 531.26 driver.
Diablo 4 features a respectable amount of graphics settings to tweak. PC gamers can adjust the quality of Textures, Shadows, SSAO, Fog and more. And, as we’ve already reported, the Open Beta also supports NVIDIA’s DLSS 2 tech.
Our NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 was able to push framerates between 40-50fps at Native 8K (8192×4320) with Max Settings. Surprisingly enough, the game feels really smooth at those framerates when using a G-Sync TV/Monitor. Not only that, but we did not experience any stutters. So no, you won’t need 32GB of RAM for a silky smooth experience. Moreover, by enabling DLSS 2 Quality, we were able to get over 60fps at all times. Again, we’re talking about 8K so that’s quite impressive. And yes, we get it, this is an isometric 3D game. However, 8K gaming is really demanding.
The level that the Open Beta features is a really dark one, something that will please most Diablo fans. The game also looks incredible with highly detailed characters and textures, dynamic lighting and cool weather effects.
