You can now download the tech beta build of the cancelled Star Wars: First Assault game

Last year, we informed you about Star Wars: First Assault. Star Wars: First Assault was being developed internally at LucasArts and was cancelled in 2012. Thankfully, its tech beta build found its way on the Internet.

Those interested can download the tech beta build of Star Wars: First Assault from here.

Star Wars: First Assault is different from Free Radical’s Star Wars: Battlefront 3 game. This cancelled Star Wars game played similarly to Call of Duty, and was originally meant to be released in 2013.

According to GamesRadar, respawns happened from dropships in waves, and it seems like everyone could heal via a melee ability. There were unusual guns based around tactical support abilities like knockback and repelling grenades, as well as cloaks and holographic decoys. And there were no Jedi or Sith.

Below you can find 20 minutes of gameplay footage from this leaked tech beta build.

    1. too bad console sales are always better than pc
and piracy is always better on pc than console

      1. “Witcher 3 sold more on PC than PS4 and Xbox One combined – Developer”

I’m sorry, I couldn’t hear you over the sound of my “F*CK YOU”. You were saying something?

EDIT: Oh sh*t, I think old Kimmy is gone? 😀

      1. Yes, we get it, EA is EVILZ1!1!1 *Sigh* Time to move on, isn’t it?

*Waits for you to call me a shill because I dared to disagree with you*

        1. What, he asked a question, I answered – truthfully. Here, let me break it down for you;

Even if EA were actually willing to reboot/continue the Commando series, they’d undoubtedly nevertheless still be far more interested in making their own sh*t, instead (case in point; Visceral’s upcoming seemingly completely unoriginal Star Wars game), & since Disney wh*red out the IP’s exclusive rights for 10 years to EA after shutting down LucasArts, that’s not happening either – or, at least, not any time soon, which of course means everyone who wants Star Wars Commando is just as sh*t out of luck as those who are holding out hope that Disney may yet return to Star Wars 1313 – since EA never will.

Besides, EA probably thinks Commando is too old to make them any “significant” profits, or whatever other excuse the analysts will come up with, instead. Not to mention, since the Commando team is already made, they can’t just randomly switch out the protagonists with a politically correct lineup, instead! Well, not without generating significant controversy, at least. Hence, it’s better to just “spiritual successor” the Commando series team into Star Wars: Battlefront’s campaign mode instead, since that one’s a proven money maker, instead of rebooting it, or making a sequel to it, or whatever-the-f*ck else.

Especially since this lets them throw in a female minority protagonist, instead of being forced to stick with the 4 Alpha Male Jango Fett Clones that the original game already established & the fanbase now expects to see the return of, because, that’s important, after all, don’t you know!

But no, please, tell me some more about how EA isn’t guilty of the above, because [reasons]?

          1. I don’t know about my words, but I can tell you that’s definitely true for your words 🙁

        2. You must be too young to have witnessed the demise of very, VERY talented dev houses such as Bullfrog, Origin and Westwood at the hands of EA execs.

    1. Even after I registered the “Download” button doesn’t work. Nothing helps. even switching to another browser.

      1. You need to copy link/file to your yandex drive to download it.
This file was put on purpose there to scam you in using shtty russian mail/drive service.I told you not to download from that scam site.
If you need the assets, they were already (for months)available on xentax forums.

  2. So… What’s the point of downloading this? The video didn’t show much more than running around in an empty (IE No enemies) map, grabbing a few objectives and ending the round?

    1. Not much point. But just like with Battlefront III expect modders to rip elements from it and use in their projects.
