The team behind Open IV has released a new set of screenshots from its upcoming mod that will bring GTA IV’s Liberty City to Grand Theft Auto V. These new screenshots show the game’s Algonquin and Broker Bridge areas, as well as an interior of one of its buildings and a distant view of the whole city.
This mod will basically be an automatic convertor that converts Liberty City from your copy of Grand Theft Auto IV into your copy of Grand Theft Auto V. As such, gamers will need to download a convertor tool with some additional assets.
Moreover, Liberty City will not replace Los Santos or Blaine County, but will appear across the sea.
This mod will work with Episodes from Liberty City, however it won’t be compatible with the game’s multiplayer mode.
The OpenIV team aims to release this mod later this Spring.
Enjoy!

This looks cool, especially since GTA IV doesn’t easily run on many modern systems. The only thing is they may be setting themselves up for some heartache. A while back a supposed Rockstar insider posted a roadmap for the series going forward for the next 3 years. This person’s other predictions about the game where in many cases provably true (predicted stuff like the Bike update etc)
He states among other expansions to GTA online that Rockstar was looking to putting a version of a remade Liberty City with a new upstate area for stuff like hunting and winter sports (skiing etc).
My thinking is if that does prove to be a case Rockstar wouldn’t really have a choice but to C&D this project.
Amazing stuff! Can’t wait.
No sane person would ever say that.
You have it backwards. Between the god-awful MC and the cookie-cutter missions, GTA IV was a huge step backwards from San Andreas.
So true. GTA IV is definitely my most disappointing game of all time. It went so backwards its unbelievable but I kind of knew this when GTA IV was announced as coming to the 360 too back in 2006 on its DVD format. It was very clear it was going to be only one city and not much else.
Finally went back early last year and played it again and 100%ed it this time, including playing the 2 expansions also. I can barely remember much from them already like character names and such. It has easily the worst soundtrack in GTA history too (even GTA 2’s was more memorable).
For Rockstar to say back in the day before GTA IV launched “The jump from San Andreas to GTA IV is as big as the jump from GTA 2 to GTA 3” was a pure insult.
Such is the epicness of San Andreas, it took them a whole 9 years to make San Andreas 2 aka GTA V lol.
