Dead Rising 4 and Syberia 3 will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech

Dead Rising 4 on Steam and Syberia 3 are two anticipated PC releases. However, a number of PC gamers – that boycott games using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech – will have to skip them as it appears that both of these titles will be powered by it.

Dead Rising 4 was originally released exclusively on Windows Store last December. After an almost three-month exclusivity, Capcom decided to bring this new zombie title to Steam. And according to its Steam page, the game will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech.

The same applies to Syberia 3. Syberia 3 is one of the most anticipated new adventure games of 2017 and is coming to Steam on April 20th. And unfortunately, the game will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech.

For what it’s worth, a certain scene group has been able to crack most of the Denuvo-powered titles, so it will be interesting to see whether the developers of the aforementioned titles will remove it once and if their games get cracked.

We’ve seen this happening in the past. Both Crytek and id Software removed the Denuvo anti-tamper tech from their games once they were cracked. However, not all developers are willing to remove this anti-tamper tech from their games. Resident Evil 7, for example, still uses it, even though it was cracked just a few days after its release.

  1. Capcom being Capcom, I can understand.

Syberia 3, on the other hand……

    What the f*ck.

No, seriously, did Denuvo “Anti-Tamper” bleed so much business last year that they slashed their prices so far as to be affordable for minor games now, too? Or, are they just giving it away at this point, in an attempt to prove that they’re back in business?

Y’know, for….. a few weeks, before CPY b*tchslaps them again.

    LOL.

P.S. Kudos, Valve. Though, it’s about f*cking time, too.

    1. “they just giving it away at this point,”

Well a tech that uses triggers is not expensive but takes time. If more groups bothered, denuvo would be pretty much by like starforce and the rest, but they dont bother, only cpy bothers. I wonder if they gonna crack down on him like it happened with skidrow.

          1. Nope
            www*reddit*com/r/CrackWatch/comments/5xacng/psa_skidrows_dxmd_crack_is_very_likely_bullshit/

          2. Yep they made fix for than and game working now…soo Skidrow is working on Denuvo games,

          3. The exe was stolen from the F2P game Deus Ex Breach, it was nuked on the scene, the crack wasn’t a real one, and even with the new fix, you can’t quick save or quick load your game, and it’s pretty new, no one knows if there’s errors in some particular situations, avoid it if it’s on your plans

          4. but they havent cracked the two most recent denuvo games the amazing sniper elite 4 that i finished 2 weeks ago or the not so good for honor.

          5. For honor has always online and no point cracking unpatched games with upcoming dlc.

          6. Really??Then why Resident evil 7 was cracked??
And why Deus ex was cracked by cpy. They didnt wait for updates and dlc.You have no idea what youre talking about

          7. Yea but I heard that was nuked even after they patched it. It wont even run properly.

    2. There was a price list going around, they have different prices depending on units sold, so it scales pretty good. A small indie can afford Denuvo for just 10k.

        1. I guess one of those is easier to crack and almost non-existent. Therefore preservation is easier. But from a consumer front neither makes a difference, both are equally bad, it’s just they grew to live with it when it comes to steam.

I rather everything be at GOG but it’ll never happen.

          1. Sure, but you don’t see anybody whining about Steamworks. But when a game carries Denuvo, everybody starts crying about it. I would understand pirates being mad, but paying customers?

    3. I thinkdenuvo must be doing some huge dicoutns from small developers thathow evryone must be able now to use it. Sniper elite 4 developer is also small and it has it too. But the game was worth the 60 euros i enjoyed it a lot and finished it on6 days. Played it mostly stealth but also killed many germans!

      1. Small? Check how many copies those guys sold. They aren’t small at all, they have many teams and they are developing multiple games at once, not to mention they are shopping for franchises on market like it’s Black Friday.

    4. I would love it if Denuvo would just die off already… but you know what I would love more… if UWP would crash and burn already. :3

      1. nah even if Denuvo die another type of DRM will rise. it’s unending cycle. we know the effort is useless but publisher will not going to sit idle without some protection on their games. so yeah there are business to be made there for company like Denuvo. just hope anything that replace Denuvo will not damaging legit buyers more.

      2. Techinically UWP is forever because many apps in Windows 10 are UWPs such as Calculator, Cortana/Search, Edgy, Mail and many, many more.

HELL even settings that are slowly eating all the features from Control Panel is univeral applicaton

        1. Only until Microsoft repents, & comes crawling back to its customer base with the next thing, one that doesn’t involve a locked-down spyware-riddled platform that nobody wants, or ever even asked for.

Who knows, maybe we’ll even get Aero back.

          Maybe.

    5. it’s a subscribtion now
and now the first 3 months are free
and if your game gets pirated, you get a full refund
they’re desperate indeed, but honestly these game suck
      why even bother with DRM?

  2. What we’ve learned from crapcom games is that cpy really hate crapcom and will crack any games they release in one week

    1. Not quite. Titanfall 2 and FIFA 17 and Need for Speed and F1 2016 and Football Manager 2017 and Unravel any many others remain uncracked.

It’s not irrelevant, if you’re lucky you can save your game from piracy for many months, possibly years (Just Cause 3).

      1. “and” “and” “and” “and”

Like i said if cpy botheres, the game is cracked if cpy does not care the game is uncracked. Abzu is uncracked the last sherlock holmes game is cracked.

Just cause 3 was not cracked because it was hard to do, but because cpy did not care.

      2. “Instead of paying for DRM, Avalanche should’ve paid for some assistance with their game engine”

        Yup.

        1. It’s funny Mad Max is running better than 1 expected. But I guess you could argue that there’s no much to render is there in that desert? xD

      3. Exactly. JC3 was such a shame, considering JC2 is one of the most optimized game for PC last gen.

    1. Yup and i have been saying this for a while now, pirates just dont buy games no magical ultra sales pop up, infact it seems that the number of people boycotting denuvo is high since mafia 3 sold well despite being trashed in reviews and was cracked day one.

      1. Even beyond the sales argument, DRM nowadays is nonsense.
You can’t make uncrackable software, you can make it annoying to do so, but at that time you’re also spending truckloads of money pursuing people and annoying the group you should be pleasing.

        1. I hope they keep their company running ,so you can play your purchased denuvo-protected titles ,but don’t be pissed off when these games become unplayable in the not very distant future.

        2. It’s not realistic, because businesses never go down. All that has to happen is, a change in their internet addressing in the future, which the games phone home to, and if those games aren’t retrofitted, they’re useless. Get your head out of your a**.

          1. If you have a problem with online activation and online DRM, you shouldn’t use Steam in the first place.

          2. Steam provides a socially-acceptable service, & in returns asks that you sign in at least once, before you can take your game offline. It’s a trade-off, but it’s a fair one, & it’s one that an overwhelming amount of people are willing to make, hands down (even though most of us would undoubtedly prefer GOG to Steam, regardless), even as we nail uPlay to the wall for being a piece of sh*t bloatware service that nobody wants, or ever asked for.

Denuvo, on the other hand, provides nothing, while creating an anti-modding, anti-long-term-conservation, anti-consumer’s rights, environment under the guise of “anti-tampering” technology.

Besides, at least with Valve, if they ever do actually go down, you can trust that they’ll patch something into Steam first that lets our games function offline, permanently (unless, of course, some kind of global EMP shuts them down first, in which case, I doubt anyone’ll give a f*ck by that point, anyway). With Denuvo, & DRM in general, really, on the other hand, well, publishers now seem to prefer re-selling the game to you through GOG after a few years (if even), instead of just patching out the DRM in question from the Steam version after 3-5 years, so, yeah.

Sure, I’ll freely admit, I repurchased a lot of old games when I shifted from CD’s to Steam, but even so, it’s been a long-standing staple of PC Gaming that you don’t have to re-purchase your games every few years, unlike with conslows, & I’m pretty sure an overwhelming amount of the PC playerbase would rather it stayed that way.

        3. Could happen. Developers could remove denuvo and fix game or let you dry they got your money who cares if you can’t play.

          1. Again, it’s the same story with Steam. What happens if Gaben closes the business? Even Steam asks for an online check once in a while, you can’t play in offline mode forever. Why does only Denuvo get so much hate?

          2. Sure, but if Denuvo bothers you so much, I think that you should have the same thoughts about Steam. If Denuvo is wrong, why is Steam right?

    1. I think the most logical think to love would be sales increasing due to denuvo (they dont) and the most logical think to hate would be having a game that is broken, but hey it is protected from pirates…still broken and unoptimized and needs a ton of patches, but the pirates cant play it…yet!!

Some people have their priorities wrong. Like say ea putting denuvo on always online, just cause 3 being an unoptimized mess, but hey the game is protected from pirates….oh wait CPY cracked it, or putting money on denuvo rather finishing the damn game. Also FUUU mod support. I wonder if Fallout 4 used denuvo, just how pissed modders would be? No script extenders.

          1. I think Durka Durka was implying that devs focus resources on superfluous things like DRM instead of optimizing peformance, but that doesn’t mean the two things are related.

          1. I refuse to believe denuvo is really hurting performance. I have played so many games that use it and it’s just based on game.

Doom also ran better 2 months after release before it was even worse.

Don’t make assumptions if you don’t have solid prove. I run games such as Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 below specs, both use denuvo and run fine.

        1. so did arkham knight and homefront the revolution and just cause 3 and lords of the fallen and dishonored 2.

          -Make a game that works
          -use denuvo

Nah pick the second one and blame the low sales on denuvo getting cracked.

          1. Doom runs smooth as butter, and so does Mad Max. Maybe, just MAYBE, Denuvo is not responsible for bad performance in games.

    2. You won’t love IF denuvo servers die, and developer doesn’t remove denuvo. BECAUSE you will not be able to start the game anymore.

Of course if there is crack you can download that and play, but if there is no, you are screwed by Denuvo.

  3. I’m of the opinion that the majority of pirates are people that are too poor to buy the $60 games and play them on their very low end PC which can’t deliver a decent gaming experience to begin with but I’m not naive. I know that there are a few that can afford the $60 but pirate anyway.

I understand a Publisher’s thinking if they believe that by making a game uncrackable for a short time that they can generate some extra sales from people that would pay to play the game when released if they had no choice but if a game has been cracked then why continue to use Denuvo? The cat is out of the bag now.

  4. I bought my Ryzen 1700 MSI Tomahawk B350 and GSKILL 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHZ CL 14 yesterday and iam waiting for them to come here in the next 2-3 days and it seems like Dead Rising 4 will be the first game that i will play with my new cpu and ram! Finaly that the end of 2500k and 12 gb ddr 3 1600 mhz! I had them since june 2011 so it time has come! Only few days left! Sincei the gane has so many zomibies at the same time it will be great to test its perfomance if of course the game uses all of 8 cores and 16 threads

    1. Hey, stop pirating games if you got so much money and then praising denuvo for stopping you from pirating games on day one and not your broken morals.

      I seriously dont get you.

Why would anyone pirate a game when he has enough money to get the steam version which downloads faster and auto updates?

      1. It’s funny during highest uptime Steam download speeds are actuallly often not as good, so even if you own the game you can get it faster via torrent and then just psate files in correct folder xD

  5. Don’t buy the new one. Send them an email explaining why and tell them that you’ll be waiting for it to hit GOG. That’s what I’ve been doing. Hopefully at least some devs will budge after the games have been out for a while.

  6. “However, a number of PC gamers – that boycott games using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech – will have to skip them as it appears that both of these titles will be powered by it.”

nice job guys, you just lost 20 sales cause of this.
