The Farm 51’s sci-fi thriller, GET EVEN, will be released on May 26th, has been severely downgraded

Bandai Namco has just announced that The Farm 51’s new title, GET EVEN, will be released on May 26th. GET EVEN will take advantage of photogrammetry and will use the Granite SDK. As such, Get Even will be one of the first games to almost exclusively use 3D scans of real-world objects and places in its game world.

According to The Farm 51, GET EVEN is described as the psychological thriller movie genre made video game; blurring lines and blending the frantic tension of the FPS genre with the oppressive intimacy of a complex personal investigation.

Moreover, it is said that GET EVEN will support VR devices. The Farm 51 has integrated VR devices into the 3D worlds of GET EVEN that drop the player into an immersive landscape.

Now I have to be honest here; GET EVEN has been MASSIVELY downgraded from its early concept teaser. Back in 2014, The Farm 51 presented an early concept teaser trailer of GET EVEN that looked stunning and caught us off guard. However, the latest trailer – that can be viewed below – looks nowhere close to what The Farm 51 aimed to achieve. For comparison purposes, we’ve included that early concept teaser below.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

Get Even – “What is real (Early concept teaser)”

  1. WTF! Whats happened to the outstanding graphics of the previous trailers? This seem to be a pile of crap right now.

  2. THe consoles would have had a hard time trying to render all those photo realistic assets. It’s why each gen, the consoles have had to rely on their smoke and mirror tricks and cutting corners to make their games looking decent.

  3. Thank you! At least someone else gets it. That second trailer wasn’t ever shown as in-game (clearly stating “concept” in the title). “This is a video presenting a first concept of Get Even” – the writing has always been on the wall. I always take a concept as a target, rather than the final look.

    1. What? DSOG is one of the most “toothless” and inoffensive sites out there, a few hyperbolic statements here and there is not out of the norm on the internet nowadays.

(no offense DSOG staff, you guys know I love you all 😛 )

    2. Haha you think DSOG is edgy? This is one of the tamest sites out there, they don’t even allow swearing in the comment section.

  4. Sadly downgrade is a natural process for many games, but when they show a trailer that is not representative of the final product at least visually, even as a early concept footage it counts as misadvertising unless they specficially said that their final product is not gonna look as good. it is what it is. the real culprit are the consoles though and DSO is not at fault for mentioning the downgrade.

          1. I know what it means (or at least I think so), and that’s why I was surprised. I thought FUD was about a company presenting some unpleasant information about their competitors in order to make customers cast doubt on them so that they are more likely to buy the FUDer’s product.. But I don’t see it there.
It’s just John expressing his disappointment. He isn’t trying to make people buy his product, or something similar.

    1. That has never been true, those spouting these sort of things, seem to forget that not all PC’s have the best components.

Downgrades, are to hit minimum PC hardware requirements, often these are less than consoles can achieve. That’s only what they actually support, which is usually greater than real minimum needed to play the game.

Simple fact is, without consoles existing, downgrades will still happen.
The weaker the PC that can play, the more PC owners can buy the game.
      The more they can sell.

  5. This looks like your typical UE3 game but it can be cool in terms of story and maybe gameplay we will see.

  6. What is happening with all the big games coming Q1 and Q2 of the year(Sniper elite 4 for honor ghost recon mass effect andromeda prey get even) and then almost nothing for q3 and qr(june-december). Anyone else noticed it?

  7. I don’t expect anyone to die on gaming hills here (console vs pc),
…But the early trailer footage and language was all about “what is
real”… If we can infer meaning anywhere, it seems as though the core
original idea was to push the visuals of the game, to immerse the first
person in the real 3d scanned world, to almost challenge the player to
be able to question what they are playing is real or not… It’s in the
language, its what almost everyone was to expect from the trailer. And
honestly, what I’m seeing, doesn’t even feel next-gen console level. I’m
not here to harp on anyone’s ability, I understand how hard it is to
dev… but when you put out that trailer, with that language… you set
expectations. The “WHAT IS REAL” trailer and language was paired with a 3D scanned
environment/characters. no other context. What is it we were to expect?

  8. Hate to burst your bubble but, that teaser trailer showed photogrammetry similar to this trailer: watch?v=E9qQz0X7QYM

And comparing that to the “Opposite worlds” trailer in this article, there’s clearly a massive downgrade, especially in the photogrammetry and texture department.

  9. Where in that “teaser” video did it state that the footage shown was gameplay? The answer is, NOWHERE… I would say that it is quite a stretch to say that there is any “downgrade” going on here. The trailer looked to me to be the same sort of “pre-rendered” footage that many, MANY games use. It’s nothing like what happened with Dark Souls 2, Watchdogs or Witcher 3… Those games all showed “actual gameplay” that the final games came nowhere close to acheiveing… This game is not the same at all… Nice click-bate title though John.

    1. No it didn’t state the footage shown was gameplay but I remember back in 2014 they marketed the game as this Next-gen super realistic game that is using 3D scanning and photogrammetry and it’ll require a lot of space (more than 100 GB IIRC). Battlefront used photogrammetry and that game looks incredible and 10 times better than what we have here.

  10. This has to be one of the laziest gaming news websites on the Internet. There’s usually at most 3, maybe 4 (if we’re lucky) news articles a day. Compare that to others which usually have 7+ on average (easily). I’ve no idea why I come here, when news is posted it’s usually already been posted long before on the other sites! Time to give it a miss I think and stick with the decent ones,.

    1. I’d say PCgamer is the laziest, they always have to churn out crap like “top 10 used mods” type articles every single day and it honestly reads like a website forum rather than the centerpiece website for PC gaming.

  11. Garbage consoles with garbage mobile processors equal garbage graphics. I don’t care how companies try to spin it. If either console was worth a damn, both companies wouldn’t be tripping over themselves to make, and sell an upgrade version (PS4 Pro/Scorpion).

    1. Even my core i5 2500k at 3,3 ghz without any overclock that is a 2011 cpu is more powerful than Ps4 Pro cpu a console that came just 2 months ago! But next month iam getting ryzen 8 core. I will keep my 970 for at least one year however

  12. Knew this would happen… They haven’t shown off the game for quite sometime and obviously downgrading it for console peasants.

  13. You can’t have good graphics and VR. You also can’t have good graphics on a console. This game is VR for consoles.
