Wow that was a surprise. I used to really like this game, I’ll have to give it another playthrough now.
THQ Nordic sure is becoming my fav. publisher/dev.
Everything sounds great except:
“fully integrated Steam Workshop”
That means most people won’t even bother making their mods available for GOG users. This is anti-competitive bullsh*t because Steam doesn’t let you download workshop mods if you have the GOG version. Valve are abusing their dominant position to make player-created content into a Steam-exclusive walled garden.
Steam Workshop only has 5-6 mods that appeared with the beta patch when it was implemented, and I don’t even know if those mods are new. GOG version can use the dozens of old and VERY good mods that were done in the last 10 years.
You’re ignoring the point.
Steam is the dominant platform, with the way the workshop is built anyone using the Steam version of the game is encouraged to use the workshop, which is designed to block GOG users from downloading mods. Now that the game has workshop integration, new mods will start popping up that are Steam-exclusive. It’s a self-perpetuating walled garden with a horrible subscription model instead of just letting you download and install mods, Workshop integration is bad news.
Steam has it’s own mod support for it’s own client. No other clients really support for mods besides Steam and universal mods that work with DRM free games (which should never be included because DRM free isn’t tied to anyone).
I don’t see why Steam aren’t allowed to have support for games on their library with the community they have that delivers mod support, hell there are games on Steam that don’t even need Steam workshop that get mod support. The whole “kill your own workshop” idea sounds like someone who hates Steam entirely despite all it has done for PC gaming during the shitty dark ages.
If you want your own mods then go for your own mods, buy your games off GoG and mod them, but don’t hop onto Steam and demand we all adhere to what you want us to do, that’s not even remotely how it works.
You’re really talking to yourself there fanboy because nothing you said has the slightest resemblance to my comment.
Not sure if trolling or just stupid.
And thus begins the downward spiral of mud flinging.
Another lost cause yet again.
Sounds like this happens often to you.
I wonder why.
omfg…. people will complain about anything.
your mad that steam has mods? grow up. ask the mod maker to put on gog or something kiddo.
Ebin.
The self-vote was a nice touch.
I wonder what would happen if my GoG account got banned…
Wonder what would happen if GoG, god forbid did anything bad.
This game is one of the best ARPG’s, fully “semi-linear” open world, great combat, cool physics interactions and the story line is great. The ending could of been better though.
Check Grim Dawn as well, made by the same guys who made Titan Quest back in the day. They are not working with THQ Nordic anymore of course.
PS: Probably going to replay this one.
What`s sad is that Crate Entertainment are busy with Grim Dawn stuff, so when these guys asked for help improving TQ they said no 🙁 GD uses the same engine but with a lot of improvements, has better teleporting loading times, better attacking mode (you don’t have to click on another enemy after each attack, you just hover over its head and it changes the target), inventory system improvements and whatnot.
While this is cool (and I will def check it out) I’m kind of curious as to why now? Sometimes companies will do this to remind people drum up interest in a title again because they are considering a new entry so it helps with brand recognition. Havn’t heard anything in the rumor mill but a sequel would be pretty cool
well they bought the i.p for a reason. one would assume they will make a new one.
Ahh I see now, that name confused me, with THQ defunct its kind of wierd that THQNordic exists
Well since they have taken up being the new from of THQ, I guess they want to drum up a good amount of goodwill towards those they plan to sell to in the future.
Well hot damn, this is what I love to see. I only owned the original but now I get the expansion for free and a revived co-op?, sign me up for giving it another go again.
Nice, i guess i still have the disk for the expansion. i remember chests in the game had funny physics, open the chest, tons of items flying across the map 😀
