  1. Not all that fond that they removed a lot of customization that we had in TF1. I was hoping for even more in this game but it’s mostly a set number of Titans to choose from with an addon or two and nothing more than what the first one had.

I really hope this runs extremely well on PC considering we don’t get the tech test. It’s entirely in Respawn’s hands at this point and it’s on them to do an outstanding job since they want to take on the task alone.

      1. Pretty much, those titan models you see is what you get with their loadouts.

I have seen counter arguments being used to explains as to why we have pre-defined load out titans and not a base where can can customize them as we want, some say it’s because getting hit by custom made titans makes things a clusterf’ when you are trying to discern what the titan type is and exactly what weapons it’s packing, by going with pre-defined load out models, we instead know who is packing what simply by taking a gander at the titan’s shell from afar and knowing how it will play versus your titan.

Really that makes the gameplay far more streamline and hand holding but I really wanted completely armored core style customization for the Titans, we don’t even have a massive amount of games that feature humans with custom load outs and mechs you can jump in and out of and customize those as well, TF is pretty much the only one as Mech Warrior and Hawken are different from TF and play differently too.

I feel that with the second game we will see fancy visuals, guns and burn cards but we’ll also see a lot of hand holding for the more bigger audience that Respawn clearly want in order for them to topple COD (because any FPS wannabe out there wants to become the king of FPS games rather than just being good at what they do, it’s always got to be about killing COD/BF).

        1. I’m not sure if it’s Respawn & EA both, or just EA, but I’d argue EA is definitely a driving force behind the “bar lowering” measures.

Though, it is true that Respawn, being an independent studio, has far greater autonomy than say DICE or BioWare, so it’s possible they agreed to “expand their target group” together, rather than having it handed down to them as an “Imperial Decree from Almighty EA” as others would have.

Otherwise, agreed, & yeah, Hawken is pure Mecha FPS, whereas Titanfall thoroughly sticks to being a hybrid of Mecha & Human.

          1. What happens between studios and publisher is the good old “pleasing the ones at the top”. If Respawn (or any independent studio for that matter) where capable of raising the same amount of money to support “AAA” projects, then the Mega Publishers wouldn’t be needed, but as the situation in this industry shows, that isn’t quite possible.

However, money wouldn’t be a problem if the ones in charge of the Mega Publishers had a gaming background, that is to say, they would understand that money would be a mean to and end (i.e. develop videogames) but as it stands nowadays, the suits in charge come from other business backgrounds so games are being developed in order to make money, so some priorities are shifted to please the suits.

  2. I would still be playing Titanfall 1 if they hadn’t decimated the playerbase with premium map packs, a playerbase that never recovered even when they made the new maps free.

It looks like they took everything out of Titanfall 1 that made it interesting to make Titanfall 2 more like COD. What on earth were they thinking. I have no interest in playing Titanfall 2 in its current state.
