Tran Vu Truc has finally released a standalone download-able version of his amazing 3D NES emulator, 3DNES. As the title suggests, this emulator turns every NES game into a 3D retro title. The 3D effects are gorgeous, though there are some issues with some games.
Here are the key features of 3DNES:
- Participate in the evolution of the 3Dification technology
- Play nes games with the true 3D graphic
- Play with any resolution supported by your PC, window or full screen mode
- Mono or Stereo Sound
- Customize the graphic whatever way you want
- Share your customization with the community.
3DNES does not require a high-end PC in order to be enjoyed. According to its creator, this emulator will run fine in any 4,5 year old computer without any problem.
This emulator was previously available only via browsers. Thankfully, Tran Vu Truc has released a standalone version. This basically means that everyone can go ahead, download, and enjoy their NES games like never before.
You can download this emulator from its official website.
Have fun everyone!

Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. I had to try this out as soon as I heard about the stand alone ver. Its actually cooler thank I thought it would be, esp playing a higher resolutions. I played Super Mario bros 3 and its almost like looking at detailed paper mache. Things like walls and doors stand out really well. Its still has visual distortions/glitches but its a cool idea and fun to play with. I hope he or someone attampts to do that same for the snes
And now to try this in 3D or getting it work with VR would be nice.
I don’t think VR would be good there, fronts and backs of objects are their ugliest sides in their 3D rendition.
my antivirus sure as hell didn’t like this, anybody else getting alarms going off on their machines?
So, how does Rad Racer translate with 3DNes? XD Games that are not in a side-scrolling perspective?
