Aliens Colonial Marines feature

TemplarGFX’s Aliens: Colonial Marines Overhaul V4 Is Now Available

TemplarGFX has released a new version of his amazing overhaul for Aliens: Colonial Marines, TemplarGFX’s ACM Overhaul. According to the modder, this new version of his mod comes with better Xeno balance, better weapon balance, more MP support and Hadley’s Hope.

Here are the key features of this latest version of TemplarGFX’s ACM Overhaul:

  • MK2 Pulse Rifle returns (40/60 ammo, 900rpm) with a missing Ammo Counter (my fault, it’ll be fixed soon) and better balancing.
    Auto Shotgun damage reduced slightly
  • Combat Shotgun damage reduced
  • Hick’s Shotgun damage greatly increased. Max ammo reduced, 12 pellets
  • Hudson’s Pulse Rifle 95rnd, full auto 900rpm. Max ammo reduced
  • Under-barrel shotgun’s use same ammo as Hick’s (and now hold 4)
  • Under-barrel Grenades do more damage (balanced in MP) (and also hold 4)
  • Fire is more lethal
  • Incendiaries more lethal
  • Smart-Gun recoil mechanics reworked, bullet spread and accuracy of tracking adjusted. First attempt at removing the blue-ness of its HUD (works on sulaco)
  • Xeno AI timing reworked to rely less on speed and more on movement.
  • Xeno’s slowed down generally (except Lurkers)
  • Further adjustment to insta-kill move so its used less
  • More vulnerabilities opened up (waiting before things etc) to give you a bit more chance
  • Face-Hugger fight is easier. Not too much mind you, it took a few of em to pull it off Ripley!
  • O’Neil’s smartgun reworked to be more useful

Those interested can download the mod from here.

Enjoy!

  1. I’m grateful for his work, and it looks really good compared to vanilla (I mean hell xeno’s are actually attacking), but I’m sad he even wasted a moment on this title. Such great work for such a piece of garbage the company who made it couldn’t even get right.

    1. Maybe he’s trying to better his AI programming skills in order to get a job… who knows. Maybe he’s also a hardcore Alien fan who was bummed to see this crap and wanted to fix it. I think it’s commendable.

      1. I’m not saying its not commendable, or that he shouldn’t try to better his skills, but just let the title die already, lol.

    2. Can I say I find it super weird how many people say something along these lines about why waste the time. I don’t consider it a waste of my time! I found the original to be bad for sure, but it certainly had potential. the levels were there, the models and texture accuracy is there. its got the guns, its got aliens and its got great music and effects. The game just absolutely was not fun to play.
As soon as another modder showed me how to mod this one, there was never a thought “should I even bother?”. Ok so maybe I’m a “little” bit of Aliens fan…

And we are in agreement, this is why you see so many similar comments around these lines. Its not a question of your skill, dedication or attention to detail. Its a question of should the community continue to support something gearbox shouldn’t have released broken, empty and without atmosphere (A bit punny considering the exploded teraformer). I’m sure you were with the rest of us, saw the original footage and thought the title may be something worthwhile for purchase.

This goes in line with some of the other AI mods that came out shortly after the game was released. It took someone in their spare time to make the AI better that gearbox refused to do themselves. Sure this typically only benefits customers, however this is one of the only times I’ve ever been so spiteful of a company to rely on their community to fix their mistakes.

  2. REMINDER: This is viral marketing for a new soon to be unveiled Aliens game, this has already been confirmed. Love all these shill paid viral marketers who ive never seen in the comments all over this and the other mod post….

    1. I am sort-of honored you would center such a crazy delusion around something I’ve done, but sort-a not at the same time.

    1. Thats because he IS stupid! Imagine building an AI that wants to keep its distance from enemies, and then forcing it to stand in special spots CONSTANTLY. Sigh Gearbox/Timegate. Half the time poor O’Neil is forced to change position (and forced to do it walking sometimes) over and over because as you move back and forth around the level you trigger new standing positions for him. Other times he tries to back off only to be ordered back. Im hoping I can come up with a way to elleviate this!

When you get into the later open levels he really starts to shine at least, but I haven’t got that far graphically yet so theres not alot of videos of those levels

  3. Havent seen anything from TemplarGFX since we were making stuff for Dragon Rising. Glad he is still at it.
