Metal Gear Solid Shadow Moses Remake In Unreal Engine 4 Is Cancelled

iRam Gamer has been working these past few months on an amazing remake of Metal Gear Solid’s Shadow Moses environment in Unreal Engine 4. Unfortunately, though, this project has been officially cancelled. While iRam Gamer has not revealed the reasons behind this cancellation, our guess is that he received a C&D letter from Konami.

As iRam Gamer announced:

“We have an important announcement to make today:

We have to cancel the Shadow Moses Project for reasons beyond our control.

We would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support we have received.”

This project looked stunning, and iRam Gamer was able to create an spectacular recreation of the original environment. iRam Gamer was working – alongside other people – on adding more characters from the Metal Gear Solid franchise.

Solid Snake, Meryl and the snow enemy type from Metal Gear Solid were under development for it. In addition, Gray Fox was hinted in some screenshots.

This project also featured the ability to switch between third-person and first-person modes.

  1. Welp, saw this coming. At least we can take solace in the fact that he was remaking a sh*tty game from the beginning.

    1. Are you talking about the series of MGS? You’re probably one of those COD fans, and hack and slash type of guy.

It takes a lot of patience to play a masterpiece like MGS, not to mention you have to be a completionist.

      1. Nope, I’m one of those Thief fanboys that likes actual stealth and freeform gameplay in my games over being railroaded into 2 hour cutscenes written by one of the biggest hacks in the industry.

        1. Sounds like mediocre Assassins Creed is the perfect game for you. Courtesy of the infamous Ubisoft.

And the so called hack has achieved much more than anything you’ll ever do in your lifetime kid.

        2. Thief 2: The Metal Age is easily the greatest stealth game ever created (currently replaying it after finishing The Dark Project) but I think MGS has its place too, especially the first one, which was very special IMO. Gameplay wise Thief is definitely better but MGS was also a great spy game.

          REKT!

  2. Fans never learn. If you are making a fan game keep it out the attention. But guess thats why they do it, because they want attention.

    1. A lot of them need support to get ideas of waht people want or to get support so they can do it full time.

  3. Don’t tell me this was the BIG news they were teasing awhile ago. Anyway, this was doomed from the start.

  4. Idiots should keep their mouths shut about what they are working on. He should have released it first before he took full credits. Gotta love those who made Streets of Rage trilogy for PC and still released it on torrents years ago despite that C & D letter.

  5. Console devs and publishers are short sighted as hell. They should never waste time in making these fan remakes, because sooner or later they’ll be canceled.

  6. How couldn’t he know this? Of course he knew… He just wants to have an ambitious UE4 project in his portfolio, so he can find a job in some game dev studio easier.

  7. Whaaaa !!! He probably knew his remake will be cancelled ..what an idiot should have kept his mouth shut : P
I think he done it on purpose so he can get a job of gaming industry 😀

  8. If you don’t have a media presence it’s quite hard to get more people to work with the project, since these projects would never get finished with just one person working on it.

      1. Hello Budgie.
        how are you
        I’m Dave Cage
        but you already knew,

I make games like Beyond and Heavy Raaaaaaain…
Once you play them you’ll never wanna play them agaaaaaaaain

Now I’m making a game called Detroit
superb graphics and more QTE’s to exploit
and a plot that’ll probably make you wanna go insaaaaaaaaane

        Hello Budgie
        you nice black cat
        did you beat my games,
got all the trophies and the plat,

  9. All the time and money they put to doing this could have went to making their own game. But I suppose if you are not creative enough this the only thing you can really do.

  10. How does one get so competent at game dev activities without learning that you can’t just make something within an established franchise? How many projects has Nintendo shut down – and yet people keep coming with these “Mario in xEngine” projects and then making a big splash when they announce cancellation. No, you can’t just recreate an existing IP that some company is actively using. DUUUUUUH. Stop wasting your talent and time!

  11. What a stupid move from konami… I mean mgs1 fan would pay good money for a game like that and konami would have earned money just using the royality feeds from the game rights…I just cannot believe they did something so stupid. That’s why I think it was the modder who maybe got a good job and now has not the time to finish it, nor to keep together his team. The only good thing we can all get from this experience is that the attention related to Shadow Moses is still high and there’s actually a demand for a remake. Maybe not in 1 year but maybe in 2 we could pretty well see an official MGS1 remake.
