Fallout 4 – New Texture Packs Released, Aiming To Overhaul The Game’s Visuals

There is no doubt that the vanilla textures of Fallout 4 look blurry and really low-res. Thankfully, modders are currently trying to address this graphical let-down and today we present you two Texture packs.

The first Texture pack comes from modder ‘DUST2DEATH’. DUST2DEATH is releasing his Texture Pack in modules and you can download the first two modules from here.

DUST2DEATH has changes some textures, and is offering a 4K version of his Texture Pack for those with enough VRAM to spare.

Below you can find some comparison screenshots between the vanilla and the modded version of Fallout 4 with DUST2DEATH’s textures.

The second Texture pack comes from modder ‘koojinn’. Koojinn spent 23 hours straight and enhanced 5,550+ files from Fallout 4. Koojinn basically added sharpness and contrast to the game’s individual texture files, making them look better while also retaining their original art style.

Those interested can download koojinn’s Texture pack from here.

Below you can find two comparison screenshots between the vanilla and koojinn’s textures.

  1. Better textures usually stick out more and just take me out of the game faster. I prefer looking at ugly textures than looking at 90 % ugly textures and 10 % good ones.

THey will just stand out more, just like in the first picture. The ground looks horrible and yet.. that fence is so detailed haha. I dont know, maybe when 99 % of the game is modded, then all of this will be worth talking about.

    1. Probably because the modded fence texture looks too pristine to be in an irradiated/nuked world. Wood looks aged in the original picture. There’s a reason stuff looks the way it does in fallout.

  2. I’ll stick to the old textures, my ENB gives the game a more ethereal blurriness for better immersion. The fact is, the human eye doesn’t see high-detail in RL, in fact when emotions are heightened and one is in a fight we lose color perception and even get tunnel vision. So all these mods that enhance resolution by hyper-sharpening make games look unreal and “plastic” instead of realistic.
~ No kiddies, higher resolution is not necessarily more true to life at all.

    1. Pseudo – gaming psychology to make you feel better about your choices. Why can’t people just say they don’t like something?
