The official PC requirements for Star Wars: Battlefront have been unveiled (via the game’s Origin page). According to them, PC gamers will need at least a 64bit operating system, 8GB of RAM (interesting to see whether there will be a lock for those owning 4GB of RAM only), 40GB of free hard-disk space and a DX11 graphics card. Recommended 20Gb of ram overall on PC but consoles are fine with 8Gb? Hmmmm.
Because consoles cannot do 1440p, 1620p, 1800p, 4K but PCs can and high resolutions require more RAM and VRAM.
Resolution and textures take up VRAM, the recommended amount of ram is 16Gb for some reason.
Since most PC GPUs don’t have 8GB VRAM at the moment like consoles do the PC RAM is used to store the rest of video memory data. For example The Witcher 3 only uses 2Gb VRAM and 8Gb and above of PC RAM to store its data.
Didn’t know that, still 20Gb is wayyy too much. TW3 used like under 3Gb(or4Gb) of ram on my setup with 3Gb of VRAM(dont know how in use).
It will not use that much, but probably use about 13-16 Gb total (3-4 Gb VRAM and 10-12 GB PC RAM). They just want to quote a standard amount of RAM which are factors of 8Gb.
Because now every gamer play games on 1440p, 1620p, 1800p, 4K!!!!
back then every PC gamer can play the game in any resolution they want but now everybody want the top. but if you want the top you need to have $$$$$$.
but this Minimum PC System Requirements are high or even extreme for some people…
Back when?
weird.. consoles rae okey with 8.. sounds like poor optimisation..
This game is superbly optimized, its just a very demanding game if you want to max out all the visuals and play at high resolutions and high frame-rates. For 1080p/60fps and high settings an i5, GTX 970 and 8-10 Gb of RAM will be enough.
Idk how you badly optimize ram usage on PC, with known engine and with rather similar consoles doing it already.
It is first game that needs 16 GB of ram! After 3 years with 12 GB RAM Well next year i will upgrade to 16 GB DDR 4 anyway. As for 6600 cpu. It must be the most cpu demanding game i have ever seen. So my 970 is meeting the recomend specs but cpu and ram are between minimum and recomend. Not that i care about the game as it will be another mmo but such high requirmeents made me worried
THIS IS FOR BETA !!!! NOT FINAL !!!
These can’t be the final requirements. There is no way this game recommends 16 GB of RAM. Unless there is going to be tons of “dynamic fish events”, or something to that affect. /s
Its probably will use about 10-12 Gb of RAM but they want 16 Gb is standard amount of RAM. Who even has 10 Gb or 12 Gb of RAM in their system, its either 8, 16, 24, 32 etc. All Factors of 8 Gb.
If it used 10-12 GB of ram, it would not run on 8 GB at all. But I’m sure it will run on 8 GB RAM without problems.
It should run on less than 8GB as the consoles have shared ram and vram. It should run on anything with 4GB or more, unless ofcourse they heavily compromised the texture quality on consoles to get it running.
Realistic expectations should be 6 GB minimum, 8 GB recommended. We’ll see soon, anyway.
I have 12 gb.
nice requirements
LOL. More ridiculous requirements that have no basis in reality. Intel pays to have companies list their newest processor as a recommended spec, even though per core performance has only marginally increased every generation since sandy bridge. And 16 gigs of RAM? It is like they have Dr. Evil writing the requirements. This game requires *pinky to mouth* eleventy billion gigs of ram. It’s the same game as Battlefield 4 DICE. You aren’t kidding anyone.
Wow, one of the writers at WCCF IP banned me from their site because of a small comment criticizing his grammar in the title of an article. Yet the fanboys, trolls and flamewar guys continue on there. The teeny tiny respect I had for that site fell past 0 into the negative realm.
Its a typographic preference. You were deliberately inciting a negative reaction by concentrating on something not actually incorrect. Once you calm down, you’ll be unbanned.
Deliberately inciting? I wasn’t inciting anything, most sources indicate the opposite, but fine, let’s say it’s your preference. There was no need to escalate it. I was quite calm, as calm as anyone could be.
How about you focus on the actual people who are inciting each other in every article involving GPUs?
Jeff, you sound like a little b*tch. “Calm down”? You patronizing dweeb.
they are fake req !
i mean in alpha i was getting 80+ FPS on Ultra with lower AA 1080p !
Calm down community. I’ve seen a load of games asking for 8gbs of ram and end up using 4-5 ? So, we’ll see.
I don’t get it, how are the consoles running this! And don’t say optimization.
Consoles have the exclusive super cinematic 24fps. We’re just missing out really.
You’re very tough on the Internet. 🙂
These requirements are a joke tbh. The game looks barely better than BF4 and yet the 16gb of RAM and a 660 for a low graphics preset? Come on now.
RAM requirement is laughable if it pulls more than 4-5 gigs of RAM then its badly optimized as BF4 runs like a champ on systems with 4 GB of RAM.
Don’t most ppl have 16GB already? I mean they’re so cheap now.
Haven’t heard such a stupid statement in a long time. No, most pc’s don’t even have 4. As for most gaming pc’s? Almost all gaming pc’s have 8 gigs of ram.
Well, you don’t have to be a douche about it. It was just a question, sheesh.
Now that I reread my previous comment, I was indeed being a douche about it, and I could have brought that over differently. My sincere apologies.
GTX 970 4GB…….
yes, good reading skill there.
More like 3.5GB…EA change that!
Star Wars Battlefront PC Beta Frame-Rate Test
DICE gave us limited access to the Battlefront PC beta on a visit to its
Stockholm HQ. We thought we’d grab some FCAT footage while we there –
so this is the Battlefront beta running at 1080p on max settings using a
Core i7 4790, paired with an AMD Radeon R9 290X graphics card. The
game’s looking very impressive, and we’ll have more metrics soon.

$800-$1000 pc for this game at Recommended.i doubt most can run this at ultra.
still a boring game no matter how exciting the requirements are. you will need 4x more rams than those 5GB on consoles, lol.
it wont look bad on consoles and run smoother I bet
it’s a good looker on all platforms but i doubt they ran it smoother, i guess it’s going to run 60fps on all of them with some minor drops here and there.
knowing ea it will be a rough launch like battle field. it will run smoother on consoles I bet.
ha
if it runs on consoles fine and have this insane requirements on pc,,it’s unoptimized
I have a evga gtx 660 sc,fx 6350 and 8gigs of ddr3,and I can run 1080p medium/high settings at 60fps not bad for an old card right.i can.i can tweek some settings and run ultra textures at 50-60 fps.
i could be, BF Hardline ran smoother on console on launch, PC had stuttering issues related to punkbuster or something like that
the history does say so remember battlefirld 4 ran fine in beta as well but had a horrible launch. im just saying the odds are in ea’s favor for a bad launch.
