Night Dive Studios announced that an Enhanced Edition of System Shock, the breakthrough FPS/RPG hybrid – one of the most influential video games ever produced, is now available on GOG.
Stephen Kick, CEO of Night Dive Studios, said:
“With System Shock: Enhanced Edition, we’re implementing game-changing improvements, including mouselook, widescreen, and a high resolution display mode. The classic game has never been more accessible to a modern audience.”
The re-release supports resolutions up to 1024×768 (compared to the original 640×480), and a native 854×480 widescreen mode. This is a bit underwhelming as we’d hoped for proper 1080p support, and to be honest I don’t see why the available options are only up to 1024×768..
Gameplay was also streamlined with a toggleable mouselook mode, including more intuitive inventory and item management. Combined with assorted bug-fixes and remappable controls, System Shock is now truly enhanced.
In order to celebrate this announcement, Night Dive Studios has also released a new trailer for System Shock: Enhanced Edition that can be viewed below.
Enjoy!

So after strife and outcast we got this.
You know i never managed to finish the first game, this will help.
Wake me up when they do a Brutal System Schock enhanced edition
Of the three old classics, system shock 2 , deus ex, and thief system shock 2 was the only one I never could get in. Got through 5 hours and than quit. Curious how system shock 2 has aged and if I should even bother? Cause I do want to go back and play system shock 1.
like i said i could never play the first game for to long the second one is till pretty good.
There is even a mod system shock infinite and SHTUP, system shock texture upgrade….and 3d models.
System Shock was good but it hasnt aged well. System Shock 2 on the other hand is still a great game by todays standards and is one of my favourite games of all time. It is also much better than the Bioshock games.
interesting i tried the original but the interface and text was so horrible I couldn’t really tell what i was supposed to do
A great sci-fi classic game. Purchased!
THANK SCIENCE FOR THIS! 😀
