CD Projekt RED has released the launch cinematic trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. In addition, YouTube’s member ‘docm77’ has shared a video showing 14 minutes of gameplay footage from the PC version, running at Ultra settings. The Witcher 3 releases on May 19th. Enjoy!

Damn I really wanted to say I still like the new graphical style but wow. It really doesn’t look as amazing as even Witcher 2 in a lot of ways. I do really like the movement of the grass and trees though. I hope I will be able to activate some of the more intense features through an ini config file. I honestly don’t see why I wouldn’t be able to get around 60 fps at max with a 970 at 1440.

Okay, after looking at the supposed graphics downgrade, I can tell that it’s damn real, and also damn disappointing. People who have a GTX 970 better be able to run this at ultra, 60 fps on 1080p, still have my doubts on 1440p though.

Good luck running that kind of grass with ENB’s and stuff.
No problem on my machine, 60fps with drops to 50ish in heavy graseed areas.
I get 40-60fps with my modding with a 980 and i5-4670K both OC’d. 1440p though, but it’s a 4 year old game and doesn’t look as good overall. A 4 year old game should run like butter on modern hardware.
Mind you ENB adds some effects like subsurface scattering, indirect illumination, more detailed shadows, water light refraction an many other which are not present in the vanilla Skyrim. Hence bigger requirements.

Apparently it needs at least a GTX 980 for ultra settings at 1080p/60 fps. Also there is no TXAA according to the Nvidia Gameworks site for TW3.

Looks like The Witcher 2.5 – the finest DirectX 9 game in all the lands…whenever I see console players going “oh wow this game is sooooo beautiful” I actually feel a bit sorry for them and face palm…..the graphics these next-gen people are seeing now I saw two generations ago.

Okay, so it’s not a bad looking game (grass not included).. But all the jaw dropping trailers and pictures released up until a couple of months or more ago, is completely gone now, and also now the colors are way too saturated and off.. No downgrade my a**.. Huge disappointment !

Okay, for the angry folks out there. Care to share a 2015 game that looks better than The Witcher 3? One that isn’t crowdfunded.
The only game I can think about is GTA V. And that game came out 2 yeas after the console version. Remember how much shit Rockstar got for that?
I am a PC gamer through and through, I play all multiplatform games on PC and upgrade my rig regularly, but the expectations some of my fellow PC gamers have absolutely astound me. What sense does it make for a company to develop a 50M game only a select few can enjoy? To put things in perspective, The Witcher 2, a PC exclusive initially and marvelous game both technically and artistically did not even manage to break the 1M copies sales milestone 5 months after its release. Compare that to The Witcher 3’s 1M preorders and tell me going for parity does not make sense.
I run a business, and when you are running a business you go with decisions that make financial sense, not sentimental bullshit. CDProject chose the easy parity money rather than go with the hard-earned elusive master race satisfaction money, and it already paid off for them. Good on them for making a financially viable decision.
Now, if you are the sort of a gamer who’d rather have a broken shifty ass but oh so gorgeous looking game than experience a well crafted living breathing world, then by all means, pass on this game. Speak with your wallet. Make your statement and give them the middlefinger.

None of the above excuses CDP of their shifty communication tactics though and calling them out on it is perfectly fine. Crying downgrade for the sake of crying downgrade though, thats tiresome.
It appears that the quality difference in texture between the high preset and the uber one is null.
The only difference resides in “Texture memory budget” which goes to indicate how much vram of your gpu will be used to stash in the textures. these values are in mb, and (according to the witcher 2) for optimal performances you should only allocate half of your vram to the textures (of course these values can be edited in the user.ini) so for who has, say, 2-3 gb vram it would actually gain performances from setting the textures on ultra ( of course this is speculation from my part, i’m just talking on experience with the previous game, so you people will have to just make your own assumptions in the end)
About the texture size, 2048, it is the same as the witcher 2 (i’ve the game installed and compared the ini files)
That also should mean that the game is fully playable on 1 gb cards with little troubles, as opposed to what they stated in their “minimum” requirements where the game “needs” a 2gb vram gpu.
They are bloating the requirements, or they didn’t bother to do a decent job of optimisation.

I’ll still buy and play the game on release day but i’m really saddened that CDPR went down this path, i thought they were better than that.
I been gaming on PC for going on 30 years.. Get used to it. And they never said what was shown in 2013 at E3 was real game footage. If you expect that footage they shown to be real game footage and how the game should look then it would have to be on DX12 for sure.
I think peoples expectations are just far to high. And most people who are complaining never even played 1 or 2 to begin with. All aboard the complain train.
How can you be such an apologist? I expected it to be how the final product looked because it was advertised as in-game footage and CDPR was one of the best and most well respected PC developers.
Why does it matter if the people who are complaining didn’t play the previous games? How is that even REMOTELY relevant to the issue at hand?

Yeah I did, yes they had plenty of issues but they were still great games and Witcher 2 pushed or at least tried pushing graphics back when it came out.
Most of the trailers were labeled as “in-game footage”, then there’s the technical showcase hosted by Nvidia which was showing features that the game was supposed to have.

You didn’t have to argue, the simple matter is that another developer, who whether you admit it or not was well respected by the PC community and who seemed to be in line with us, has deceived us by showing X then selling -X to us and then tried to cover it up blatantly. People are getting outraged over it and you’re just basically saying that it doesn’t matter because it’s been happening for Y years, as if that means it should be ignored.

I bought the two previous games on PC just like I buy ALL my games on PC because of the naive belief that if I support developers they will support PC gaming but it looks like that’s a foolhardy idea. I now own over 650 titles that I bought from Steam and can link my account if anyone doesn’t believe me when I say that I don’t ever pirate but I won’t be buying this game as it was designed for weak sauce sh*t.
Now that they are pandering to the console market and aiming their game engine for weak sauce tablet/netbook low power Jaguar CPU architecture that would have been many, many , many times below minimum CPU requirements had this game engine targeted PC the game has been severely gimped for PC gamers. Someone yesterday told me to blame the fragmented PC hardware market and not the consoles but the reality is that even 8+++ years old quad core desktop CPU’s are many times more capable than the tablet/netbook Jaguar architecture used in consoles. I mean how many PC games have asked for a £29 Sempron CPU for minimum settings?.
I will likely pirate this game and seeing as they are “okay” with pirates they won’t mind too much as it was aimed at console gamers.

yes it has be downgraded , but if i am correct this is not true ultra – it has ssao , no AA and quite a few other options disabled.
Hbao+ will make the game look better .
PS- i agree tjere might have been a downgrade ( still waiting for me to experience the graphics before taking my pitchfork) , but still a game which offers a lot more than graphics is not worth pirating at all. I agree , if there is any downgrade it is because of the consoles and it is true that PC wasnt their priority
But i kindly ask you guys to look from CD projekts point of view .They need to make money in this game to make their company big + a 200 man team+small budget wont allow an exclusive pc version to be made

and about the dark gritty atmosphere i believe some sweet fx might patch it up a bit.
i would strongly recommend playing the game before judging from really bad screenshots(trust me , a 300pg discussion in the witcher forums) and compressed non ultra videos of mostly an older build

i already told you that will judge it after game release…. A lot of BS is going around here. Some screen shots are clearly from the old build while others are from lower settings or reall bad quality ones ( the comparison made a week ago by dsog) .
Also you tube videos which are compressed and are not in ULTRA settings( seriously in ac unty HBAO+ really makes a difference from ssao) are a bad comparison.Also the forum said that the review builds were older copies.
All i am saying is that wait till the game has been released and clearer footages have been released before judging.
about the noticeable part, it is while playing not footages – if the game has been slightly downgraded ( ie not noticeable that much) i dont mind.

The downgrade is more than real, accept it as I have. I feel kinda sad that CDPR pulled off this PR stunt, deceiving customers, and creating parity between pc and consoles. Had they not shown what they did in 2013 and 2014, I would probably now still have it pre ordered, but since I dislike being deceived, I cancelled. Damn shame too, because its a great game it seems, and I really wanted to give my contribution, but not like this.

Fair enough, but if you don’t trust the videos, trust what the Managing Director of CDPR said. The game only looks marginally better on PC, due to hairworks an better AO and frames per second. He specifically said that those nvidia techs are not in, that the texture quality is the same, and the draw distance is equal in all platforms. IF that’s not enough for you then nothing is. The game will still be great, but it will be downgraded, FACT.

When CDPR announced that Witcher 3 will be multiplatform, even the most hardcore PC gamers bashed those who said that now it’ll be dumbed down or downgraded (including myself). Seems like those people were right. Whenever Consoles are involved, PC games will always be held back.
From now on I’ll consider any PC series dead if it goes multiplat, unless they surprise me with the final build or make it PC timed exclusive. I hope to God that new game from GSC (STALKER devs) is not multiplat. I got a PC to play PC games, not Console ports. Both PC and Console community have different tastes when it comes to games.

If I had to guess, the bottom one is the PC, and the only clear difference is the hair, that eventhough its without motion, I’d guess thats that one that’ll move with hairworks turned on. Everything else pretty much the same and the texutre quality seems to be less than impressive.
