CD Media has provided us with a review code for Grand Theft Auto V, and below you can view some comparison screenshots between the game’s Normal and Very High settings. For comparison purposes, we did not adjust the amount of AA, as well as the Population and Distance sliders. Normal screenshots are on the left, whereas Very High screenshots are on the right. Make also sure to open them in new tabs in order to see – more easily – the differences. Enjoy!

Wow, huge difference. The missing reflections on the cars look weird.
after the cinematic 30 fps i thought there is a limit to stupidity.
Anyway last time i heard “hur dur it looks like the console version”
Turn grass up to ultra, take a screen and watch them weep.
From what i have seen the lighting alone is superior.
Level of detail in Single player blows it away as well. You can literally get stuck in traffic if you put population density at Max. PS4 version is only about 1/3rd the pop density of the PC (probably only even a quarter)
GTA Online they locked the settings since everyone would have to have the same settings for it to work (Which is causing performance drag for some and enhanced performance for others)
It’s heavily reduced for GTA online unfortunately. If you put single player population density and variety to max then drive the los santos freeway or walk along vespuci beach in single player then do the same for GTA Online, you will notice it
i dont know about full price, but from what i have seen the missions are varied and action packed UNLIKE gta iv.
The console limitations are still there in the PC version like 30fps on the start screen, mouse feels horrible because of it.
but i thought you said mouse was ok
It’s is, it’s just that one screen at the start the frame-rare is locked to 30fps, when you’re in game the menu is not locked to 30fps.
I will get it when i am done with some games, i got fc4 to finish as well as alien isolation and i got blackflag and sniper elite v3 on a steam sale.
Ps does it have races because ubisoft only has time trials in their games no actual car racing.
Personally i am more interested in action packed missions in fps view and exlporation.
does it have cop and taxi missions?
If it doesnt i am sure the LCPDFR mod will fix it.
Actually that’s probably true, and add to that the fact that most console gamers sit pretty far from their televisions and the experience is likely identical.
And you should be nicer to console gamers – they beta tested this game for us for more than a year 🙂
Me to man the first thing i noticed and the first thing i turned off.
Yeah the game looks nice on ultra at 1440p.

Ultra 1440p and over 40fps with an 970. I think my 980 will do 60fps fine with little turned down settings.
Looking at this makes me wonder how on earth will the next gen consoles make it through with sub1080p or even 1080p now that the geometry and the objects in games are so high. There will be jaggies everywhere. We should all invest in 4k.
FXAA in this game is awful, loads if flickering, it’s worth the FPS drop using MSAA.
That is gorgeous. For more realism it would look better with a little over-exposure; the sun is really bright in real life – this is like looking through a polarized lens.
Oh yeah, I forgot I can use Photoshop:

There are a few SweetFX presets already available, you might want to check those out.
It looks gorgeous. I’d rather the lighting look brighter, though, to better simulate the sun’s brightness (maybe an ENB setting?). Vanilla looks like its seen through a polarizing lens.
This would be more realistic, I think: http://i.imgur.com/OyTNZJQ.jpg
yeah! I am happy I got it. I even got it on hardcopy because I wanted that box! RockStar delivered more performance then many could have expected
hey Sean, what are your PC config for 1440p? I am thinking about getting one for my next upgrade. which monitor you’re using?
Intel i5 4690K
Asus Z97 Pro Gamer motherboard
EVGA GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0
8GB Kingston HyperX Savage 2400Mhz RAM
Benq 24″ GL2460
What program did you use to display that information in the top left corner? Thanks.
MSI Afterburner
The highest texture setting takes a high amount of VRAM, and they don’t even look very good. Especially the grass and dirt. The game also has an overall blurry look even with FXAA and PostFX disabled, so I’ve been using the sharpening filter in SweetFX to improve the visuals.
Then the game must be misreporting VRAM usage for me, it says I’m at over 5,000 out of 8,000. Might be some kind of bug with SLI.
GTA V reports double VRAM numbers (for both available and used) on SLI systems. And while the game reported to be using 5GB of VRAM (which basically means 2.5GB) we did not notice any stuttering issues on our GTX690 in the game’s prologue
So normal is last gen quality or better?
Is very high ultra or there is more?
There is a clear diffirence in those comparisons, what i want to see is the diffirence between high and veryhigh/ultra.
Is it big?
Some settings go to ultra, others (like textures) only go to very high. I think the lowest setting for anything is off and normal. Normal seems to be close to PS3/360 settings because putting grass on normal gets rid of all the next-gen grass and makes everything look flat.
Not huge between High/V.High Texture settings but if you have the GPU you should crank it.
lighting is what i care about.
the biggest difference you see besides foliage and shadows is the use of ambient occlusion in the high shots, that really changes the scenes and gives them contrast and detail in lights and shadows
Wow, I didn’t think it would be that big of a difference.
Medium looks like PS3 version with some added grass and better looking trees.
Glad i’m waiting for it to go on sale on Steam. because that means I’ll have time to buy a better graphic card and enjoy the game on PS4 in meantime.
lol i have GTX 760 and i use this settings https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TE1tyIe0r2w and i have like 70+ FPS all the time and the min is 70 FPS and it looks like Ultra or just 1.2% worse.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
whats your graphic setting ?
check the video 🙂 ofc he will get like 99-100+ GTX 780.
But i get a perfect smooth 70+ no stutter and nothing its amazing and looks amazing only with 2 GB VRAM !!!
So, normal is basically PS3 graphics?
I say a bit better over resolution and other settings. A 250X should provide more detail in most cases vs a 360/PS3
Night shots, I actually prefer 1920×1080/4xMSAA since it’s just a cleaner image thank to MSAA.

That white flash when you change pictures is annoying af DSOG
especially when the picture is dark!
So thousands of dollars in PC investment to make the textures sharper and the fog go away,um ok.
