Final Fantasy XIII May Be Coming To The PC, Steam Logo Appears On Official Website

Now here is something really interesting. The Steam logo appeared out of nowhere on the official website for Final Fantasy 13, suggesting that this JRPG from Square Enix may find its way on our platform. Naturally, take this with a grain of salt, however we may hear about it in the next couple of days (during TGS 2014 that begins tomorrow).

For obvious reasons, we grabbed a screenshot that shows the Steam logo on FFXIII’s official Japanese website (in case Square Enix removes it).

Untitled2

Moreover, the PC platform is now listed on Final Fantasy XIII’s official North American website.

It’s pretty unclear which Final Fantasy 13 (FFXIII, FFXIII-2 or FFXIII Lighting Returns) will hit the PC. Perhaps a bundle featuring all of them? Now that would be a great surprise.

For what is worth, Final Fantasy IV has been rated by PEGI, suggesting that the DS/iOS version of this classic JRPG will be coming to Valve’s distribution service soon.

There is no doubt that this news will please most FF PC fans, as it opens up the possibility of a PC version for Final Fantasy XV.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

        1. It’s got to do with developers seeing that through valve PC gaming is low cost = high gain , when a Steam sale appears Devs rake in money even when we get the game at a slight fraction , it’s a win win for all…except Sony and Microsoft

          1. How bad does it really hurt Microsoft in the long run? Microsoft puts games on steam too, and owns the operating system steam runs on. They also sell the controller most people buy when using steam games that work better with a controller. Xbox is also not where Microsoft makes most of there money anyway.

          2. Microsoft makes a cut of every game sold on xbox. They make 0 cut from every game sold on steam. That’s how much they lose.

          3. @Adam
Plus they lose on gold subscriptions, we may have bought windows, but don’t pay for anything else,no ads on dashboard which I really hate when starting my 360(Thanks to rockstar delay it’s now collecting dust), controllers they take a small cut, Why do you think they built consoles? , but as a publisher/developer on steam that’s where they will make their cash.

Oh and quite a bit of their cash comes from Android patents.

    1. Oh man, like 4 months ago i was really planning on getting a PS4, mostly so i could get my hands on Metal Gear Solid V. Now that MGSV is coming to PC, and FFXV might too, i feel there is less and less reason to for a while.

      1. Silent Hills, Bloodbourne and a few other titles are still keeping me interested in getting one but im in no rush now that ive lost all interest in destiny.

    1. Final Fantasy 15 isn’t an MMO or MOBA. Furthermore, there are few (if any) MMORPGs that can touch the single-player Final Fantasy games, on PC or otherwise.

      1. Witcher and Origins are better games/RPGs though . But then again , I can’t take you seriously , after your amazing comments on GTA 5 article .

        1. I think most of the JRPGs are a notch better than the western rpgs/europian rpgs barring witcher/dragon age/elder scrolls series.
story telling in jrpgs were always the strong point anyways.
but then again its just one man’s opinions

          1. I respect your opinion my friend but personally I prefer Western (Art style , Story telling , Gameplay , Writing etc) .

          2. my problem with JRPGs is, there are no role playing in most of them. i can hardly call most of them rpgs

        2. Witcher and DA:Origins aren’t JRPGs, and never will be. Final Fantasy 15 is one. They’re completely different in terms of aesthetics, so “better” is a personal matter of taste.

Also. if you found my comments in the GTA thread “amazing”, it’s probably because you’ll not find any fault in them, especially if you happen to sympathize with thieves that is.

          1. It’s just that he thinks his opinions are amazing when they’re nothing but his opinion just like everyone else has one, like an arsehole.

          2. “Piracy is illegal” isn’t an opinion but a fact, which you and the others failed to disprove in that thread.

But anyway, I don’t want to stray off into another debate because it’s all in that thread and I don’t want to repeat it here.

          3. Captain obvious strikes again. It was about the moral side of it and how it has been labled as stealing, when it’s technically not.

          4. And I stated that morality hinges on legality etc etc (which also is a provable fact btw). But seriously, all that jazz is already in there; I just find myself reiterating them for the sake of it now, and I don’t want to do that but relish some exciting Final Fantasy news instead.

          5. Piracy is illegal. Everyone knows that. It’s just that the laws on piracy aren’t just strong enough for people to give care

          6. Piracy is definitely illegal. It’s just that the laws on piracy aren’t strong enough for people to care anyways

          7. “Piracy is illegal”
not in all counrties, some eastern europe countries, russia, china, middle east, north africa, some eastern asian countries, south america etc… but no matter what it’s moraly wrong

          8. I think they’ve mostly revised their laws. Russia and China have strict laws last I checked, and I’m pretty sure the other countries have too. But still, let me know if you have a source; I’d be interested in reading about them because at times I’ve wondered the same thing.

          9. they have laws, but it only protect their products not usa or europe. i don’t have source, i’ve been in most of them, they can even sell pirate copies without any issues for less than a $. i live in middle east, i’ve been in russia, china, malaysia, thailand, india, saudi arabia, dubai, azerbaijan, armenestan. i guess more than 70% of the world’s population don’t care about piracy or don’t have any law against it. hell i bought a jtag xbox360 from dubai with 100games installed to it’s hard drive for 200$

          10. Well I’m in India, and here piracy is 100% illegal. But you’re right, people don’t know or care. I’m very sure these same people (especially poorer ones) would not be able to defend themselves if they’re accused of a crime because they don’t even know what’s legal or not, and for them getting pirated CDs for cheap is normal.

          11. and i don’t blame them. they can release games cheaper in that areas with less extras, i guess that can help to overcome piracy. why i like steam so much ? it killed PC piracy for me ages ago

          12. yep, it is. i never forget when i wanted to buy LHX: Attack Chopper for my PC (386) back then. i called my dad’s friend and told him to buy that from me from england. one year later when he came to see us in my country he gave me the game. 1 year wait for a paid game 😀 . but now i can buy any steam/gog/origin/uplay games i want with tons of options on day one. and most of them are dirt cheap

          13. I’ll give you an example… when GTA 4 was released here back in 2008, it was priced VERY reasonably (around 15$) because there was a local distributor. So that helped sales, true… though I don’t know to what extent… because pirated CDs sold well too. So I don’t think it’s always a “value for money” problem. However, I’m glad to say that I feel the situation is improving, and a lot of folks are buying more original games compared to 5 years back. Not because of ethics, but because it’s easier to buy the original game on disc and play it than download it illegally, given the slow net speeds here.

          14. yeah i’m glad too, it’s improving over here too. i pirated GTA IV on x360 because there were no way to buy that game for me, no one has it’s original version. but when it came on PC i bought russian version for 30$, i updated the game and it became english 😀 then i bought that (GTA Collection) later on steam for less than a 20$

          15. Steam has been great. Their business model is really very successful. And I love the Humble Bundles too. I’m thinking of picking up Darksiders 2 in the ongoing sale as a matter of fact. It’s 80% off and won’t go lower probably.

          16. “they have laws, but it only protect their products not usa or europe.”
Not true for Russia. Piracy is illegal. It doesn’t matter if the product is russian or foreign. The thing is there is not enough enforcement of these laws. Especially if there are no representatives of the copyright owners in the country. Because of that you still have a decent chance to stumble upon a pirated products. And the biggest problem is, you can’t always tell the difference.

          17. You didn’t, but you brought up the comparison. The comparison would have been fair if both actually were JRPGs aimed at the same market. Final Fantasy and Witcher/Origins are more different than similar, even if they’re all RPGs eventually. And they’re all very good games.

  1. That’s great news . It is nice to see that Konami have really started to support PC and now it is guaranteed that FF 15 will be on PC . You have to be ignorant to not realize that . I’m pretty sure Silent Hills will be on PC as well . But FF15 is guaranteed .

  2. Although it’s very likely this will be on PC from speculation, PS3 does also have access to steam, so is still not a guarenteed “PC” game even with the logo there. TBH I havn’t even liked final fantasy after 7. It’s all about FF Tactics

  3. Square Enix = Definitive Edition, tomb raider, sleeping dogs, i bet they will announce FF13 collection or DE this TGS. i didn’t liked the game (played FF13 and FF13-2) but if thats true, that would be a great news. i’m more interested in FF15

  4. what was the last new JRPG from them on PC, The last Remnant? that was an underrated JRPG imo.
Naruto Revolution(not from Square Enix but Japanese still) seems to be selling good on steam right now even though it got lots of “Not Recommended” reviews it seems but devs/publishers care mostly about sales not reviews. also SE gained lots of PC crowd with FFXIV: ARR although FF11 sold good on pc as well i think but at those times Japanese cared less for PC.

    1. well i never checked the sales but i always had this feeling that 14:ARR at least saved FF series(well maybe not save but still) in recent years since 13 wasn’t good enough (probably 13 itself sold a good amount but after that the sequels didn’t since i kept hearing bad things about 13 and it’s sequels).
i enjoyed 14:ARR myself (not the story though). it seems ninja class is upon us so i might subscribe again who knows..

    2. The Last Remnant is not a good game. The mechanics is a mess and I’m being kind by using “mess.”

      A. The enemy scales to your level so some of the enemies become too powerful they can 1 hit you
      – then don’t level you say ? what kind of RPG would restrict the player from killing monsters/enemies ? can you still call that an RPG ?

      B. You cannot directly control your attacks so the battle depends on your luck and what kind of attack the AI will choose for you. And this flaw is amplified by the fact that enemies scale to your level because when you encounter a powerful enemy, you cannot control the flow of the battlefield and instead rely on luck. I was so mad with this game I almost crushed my controller.

No wonder it didn’t get a sequel. The only redeeming aspect of this game is it’s graphics coz you know “SquareEnix.” It’s a shame coz it had potential if not for it’s horrible mechanics.
I still finished the game but had to load a save A LOT —__—

      1. don’t get me wrong i am not saying the game is epic, i am just saying the PC version was good. i heard the console version was harder or messier and that sealed the fate of this IP since their main target audience was console, but still even the PC version had it’s own share of problems that could make you mad(maybe you didn’t play on console and played the game on PC with controller) so i can understand where you are coming from and it probably even had the scaling problem on PC as well not sure but to be honest not fighting trash mobs is normal in many games not just RPGs although that’s not a good thing so i am not encouraging it but as long as you dodged some of the unnecessary fights(only trashes) on PC you were fine at least i was fine. well there was also other ways but that doesn’t mean it makes it ok to have these problems to begin with.
the game had lots of shortcomings but it had a good amount of details(like some unqiue characters having their own little story that was ironically better than the main story, even though the main story had it’s moments as well) that many missed or didn’t care whether because they were pissed(rightfully so and i don’t blame them at all still it’s unfortunate) or because they couldn’t even finish it but it all depends on the person.

        1. I played the PC version though. Seriously!?! they already improved that version ? and it was still like that ?

It certainly wasn’t good so epic would be out of the question XD

          1. yes, be glad it wasn’t console version lol. too bad you didn’t like it but as you said luck was involved as well so one can get very lucky or very unlucky as well but at the end it’s all opinion based.

    1. Can’t wait for TGS and nVIDIA’s conference tomorrow . Hopefully Metal Gear Collection is exactly what we think it is .

          1. I loved MG Rising! I actually just finished off the last level/boss. 🙂 Really cool game! About the emulation.. sure? It never really poped into my mind till now, but then again that collection could have remade games on the new engine? Id rather wait and find out more before i jump on the emulation ship. 😛

          2. I do hope that the collection does come to PC, but still the wording has me stumped could it be the 1st 2 Metal Gears or MGS1 and up , I hope for something like a update Legacy Edition.

          3. Same. Like the resident evil remakes for the PC.

That (Or a new engine? that fox engine looks mighty gorgeous XD) should make me happy in theory!

P.S. If they have a collection ready for the PC, i hope it will include all of them or at least up to 5!
4 should be in too obviously.

    2. I wouldnt be surpised if kingdom hearts made it too its not a sony exlusive as the ponies thing.

      also

“sony initially forecast a $466 million net loss by the
end of the current financial year, but has now informed investors that
the projected loss has been revised to $2.14 billion.”

      AHHAHAHA burn sony.

      1. Wow 0_0 I read that they quadrupled their forecast but I didn’t know it was 2.14 BILLION. Sony’s a multi-billion dollar company anyways. I guess their gaming branch is the only branch gaining profit now

        1. they lost 1.1 bililon last year thought they gonna lose 466milion and they gonna lose 4.5 times as much.

          AHAHHAHAAH their predictions are pathetic.

          1. and remake after remake after remake 😀
they want to bring early access to ps4. unfinished titles for an official licensed closed platform. and here comes the DayZ, an unfinished peace of s*it but it will make them money. gaming industry is f*ed up (unfinished games, more beta/alpha than atcual finished products, forcing people to pay for license instead of owning a game, force people to be always online step by step and calling it MMOs etc…)

        1. nope, there are plenty of games that shows steam instead of pc logo. that PC DVD logo is for games that have retail disks.

      1. 10 is pretty linear and voice acting is not very good at times. But the graphics were great for it’s time. It looks good even now. It also has nice visual aesthetics. Story is dumb at times, but it has it’s moments.
There is also alot of stuff to do. Minigames, side quests, arena battles, item customisation, optional dungeons and bosses. Leveling system is interesting and quite unique. It’s also really flexible. You can spend a hundred hours to reach max stats for every charachter. Or you can just level up normally as you go. And that will be enough to beat the game and most of optional content.

          1. It’s turn based. Charachters and enemies go in a specific order that is determined by speed attribute and what action you previously took. Fo example, your character will have another action faster after using an item, rather than after using an overdrive (limit break). Some attacks will delay next oponent’s action. Some will be weak, but will allow you to move again and again quite fast. All throughout the fight you can see a chart showing who’s going have a turn next and if you’ll be able to squeeze an attack or two in between oponent’s turn. And while you issue commands to your characters, time will be completely still, so you don’t have to be quick about it like in VII for example.

  5. WoW! This is really great news!
Few months ago! FFXIII developers did mention that we developed this game first for PC Platform and then we ported the game to PS3/Xbox360!!! But they didn’t say anything about PC release!

      1. theres one suggestion though.
        # When u download the game in steam u can go to its properties and change the language to japanese (if its available)
        # after u download the game, search for the audio files.
        # back it up in a different location
        # change settings to english in steam and redownload.
replace the audio files from the japanese version.
        done.
Subtitles and the menu will still be in english that way.
Its just a speculation. We can be sure only after it comes on pc
        Worked with skyrim though

      1. There was an interview with the FF type 0 director or creator and he said that type 0 HD was made on PC so he was having a thought of releasing it on PC too. I can’t remember where I read that though

      1. Yes, FF X initially came out on PS2. And they recently released an HD Remaster for PS3 and vita. I wish it would be released on steam.

  6. are you drunk?

Umair Khan: That’s great news . It is nice to see that Konami,Square Enix and other
Japanese publishers have really started to support PC and now it is
guaranteed that FF 15 will be on PC . You have to be ignorant to not
realize that . I’m pretty sure Silent Hills will be on PC as well . But

CoolingGibbon: Konami doesn’t publish Final Fantasy, Square Enix does. Either way I hope this turns out true.

Me: he want to say mgs5

you: metal gear 5 is already on steam available for preoder: http://store.steampowered.com/http://store.steampowered.com/

  7. another example of it being underrated but not because you are wrong…no you actually had good reasons to quit. the game had some problems that could make you mad and it was the developer’s responsibility to avoid that but tragically these problems shadowed everything else about the game although the PC version was better.

also good taste. and for the record i never even dream of comparing the likes of The last Remnant to Chrono Trigger.

  8. YEAHHHHH hooohooooo Square Enix, you are my hero 😀

Now please release FF Type 0 on Steam with the demo of FFXV as well. 😉

And later FFIX, FFX and FF XII 🙂

And Koei TECMO, get over here too and bring Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1,2,3 Razor’s Edge to Steam and next gen!!

  9. they might wanna see how it sells before deciding about FFXV on PC , i hope there are enough FF fans on PC , im getting this for sure

  10. Hopefully SE will put some effort on FFIV port. FFIII was a disgrace. Don’t get me wrong, It’s a great game, but the port was awful. They just released the Android version running on an emulator. It didn’t even supported proper PC resolutions.

  11. I expected that to happen with the pc gamign revolution and next gen systems being like pcs, you can expect every console multiplat to be on pc.
