NASCAR ’14 – NVIDIA CUDA-powered Particle Effects Showcased

Better late than never I guess. In order to spark interest for the NASCAR game that was released back in February, Nvidia and Eutechnyx released a new video showcasing the PhysX effects that are being supported. NASCAR ’14 PC supports GPU-accelerated CUDA particle effects, meaning that Nvidia owners will enjoy better sparkles, particles and smoke effects. As a result of that, cars can push and drag the smoke around the track as they pass through a large cloud and smoke stays longer on screen. Enjoy!

  1. I supposed you’d have the advantage if you played without the Nvidia cuda effects, as you’d have less smoke to see through.

    1. Yes it looks like that. But only for multiplayer. For single player mode the atmosphere looks much better with CUDA effects. It’s more interesting when you don’t see through the dust and smoke if car accident happen.

  2. Seems like the differences are either negligible or so overdone they weird. And the game itself looks bland and dated, maybe they should have focused on the basics lol

    I really wish Nvidia let you properly control PhysX effects (disable different parts of them, limit the number of particles and the gib-life, etc). In so many games the effects are a bit overblown, and would look and run better if toned down slightly. Of course, then you could get away with running a lot of them fine on CPU and we couldn’t have that! >.<
