Cyberpunk 2077 Co-Op Mod NightCoop Launches in Alpha

Earlier this month, we informed you about a mod that will allow you to play the entire single-player campaign of Cyberpunk 2077 in co-op. And today, I’m happy to report that its first beta version has been released.

The NightCoop beta brings online co-op to Cyberpunk 2077. It lets up to eight players explore Night City and play through the story together. Each player uses their own version of V, with their own look, level, gear, and cyberware. The mod is free, but it is still in beta. Some parts of the game may not work as planned.

NightCoop lets players share one game world. The host’s save controls the quests, NPCs, and state of the city. Story events are synced so that players follow the same main steps. Dialogue choices are decided by a vote. A choice wins when more than half of the group picks it.

Cutscenes play at the same time for everyone. Each player still hears their own version of V’s voice. Phone calls are also shared, so if a call ends for one player, it ends for the whole group.

The mod works best in the first act and its side quests. Later parts of the game may work, but they have had less testing and may have more bugs.

Every player can bring their own V into the session. Your look, level, gear, and cyberware stay yours. Shops, ripperdocs, and menus are also set up for each player. This means friends can use different builds while playing in the same world.

The game only pauses when everyone opens a menu. This helps keep the action moving when one player needs to check gear or buy items.

Combat is shared across the group. All players see the same enemies, gunfire, grenades, and deaths. Damage from every player counts, so friends can work together to take down foes. If a teammate falls, another player can help them get back up.

The host can also turn on a harder enemy option. This gives foes new skills instead of just raising their health. Fights can feel tougher without making enemies simple damage sponges.

NightCoop also lets friends fight each other. The host can turn player-versus-player combat on or off at any time during a session. Damage is balanced across player levels, so a higher-level V does not have a huge edge.

Players who lose a fight go down instead of being killed. They can get back up or be helped by a friend. Other players cannot finish off someone who is down. PvP also gives no XP or wanted level, so it does not affect the shared world in those ways.

Players can ride in the same car, with one person driving and others as passengers. They can also use separate cars and explore the city on their own. Story rides still happen together, so the group can stay part of key events. The car’s radio follows the driver.

The host’s save controls the shared world, and the host can save it as usual. Guests’ own campaign saves stay safe and are not overwritten. Players can also start a new game together from the co-op lobby in the main menu.

This setup lets friends play through the story without replacing their own solo progress.

NightCoop offers two ways to connect: a direct connection or a hub server. It uses end-to-end encryption for network traffic. The mod can pick a nearby server based on ping, and players can also choose their own server from the menu.

Invites are simple, too. A single line contains both the session code and server details. The mod can also handle short Wi-Fi dropouts without ending the session.

Players do not all need to own the Phantom Liberty expansion. If a guest does not have it, the mod can ask the host to restart the game without the add-on. There is no need to delete any files. The host can turn it back on from the menu and restart the game.

You can go ahead and download the beta from its official website.

Speaking of Cyberpunk 2077, here are some other great mods for it. For starters, you can download the Enhanced Photo Mode Unlocker. There’s also a mod that allows cars to fly, as well as other mods that can open up new areas to explore. Then we have this mod that adds a cool Grand Theft Auto-inspired Taxi Driver Mode. Oh, and don’t forget these mods that allow you to play as Ciri from The Witcher 3. Plus, there is a cool Urban Survival Immersion Μod, as well as a Story-Driven Rent System Mod and a Fully Functional Fuel System Mod. Not only that, but you can download this unofficial DLC Mod that adds over 50 new locations.

If you don’t want to pay for a graphical mod, you can improve the game’s graphics with the following free mods. For instance, you can use the Ultra+ Mod. Not only does it improve the quality of Path Tracing, but it also improves performance. Its creator has claimed that it can speed up PT performance by 30-40%. If you don’t want to use it, you can try some other Path Tracing/Ray Tracing Mods. For instance, this mod disables all the fake lights when using PT/RT. And then we have this mod that can improve the path-traced reflections.

Another amazing mod is the one inspired by Titanfall. The mod adds BT from Titanfall to fight by your side. BT comes with its own model, animations, HUD, voice lines, and sound effects. And yes, you can ride the mech and cause chaos in the streets of Night City.

There are also some free HD Texture Packs to use. For example, you can use Cyberpunk 2077 HD Reworked or this other HD Texture Pack that improves all trees. There’s also another pack that improves the textures of almost all buildings, terrain, and environments. However, these packs don’t work together. Therefore, you’ll have to use only one of them.

Additionally, there’s a mod that adds realistic ragdoll physics to finishing moves. Plus, Law Enforcement Overhaul is a mod that enhances the game’s Police System. And there’s even a mod that integrates the OpenAI API, enabling ChatGPT support. Responsive V is another cool mod that enables dynamic NPC reactions. Moreover, this mod will overhaul the main story. Don’t sleep on them, as they can greatly enhance your gaming experience. We also have a cool mod that allows you to play in third-person. And finally, this mod restores 100 NPCs that were cut from the game.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
