Modder ‘BadassBaboon’ has released Version 3.3 of his amazing graphics overhaul mod for GTA 5 Enhanced Edition, RealityV. This is one of the best graphics mods for Grand Theft Auto 5. So, let’s see what this new version brings to the table.
The main highlight of this update is the much better character skin rendering. This also includes the hair. Characters no longer look like plastic or clay dolls. The modder has also improved the water, taking inspiration from GTA 6 and Source 2. The waves now look more realistic and translucent. The update also adds a parallax effect to roads and more realistic grass. These changes help make the game world look much better.
It’s worth noting that RealityV V3.3 is available for both the Legacy and Enhanced Editions of GTA 5. The Legacy version is available for the Gold Tier members of BadassBaboon. The Enhanced version is free, and you can get it from here.
From what I can see, the Legacy version is the most up-to-date version. And the modder has shared its full changelog.
GTA 5 Legacy RealityV V3.3 Release Notes
Improved skin rendering:
- Added modern diffusion on character skins with realistic warm light scattering.
- Added sub-surface scattering effect with proper shadow side tinting, sheen, micro occlusion, and sharpening.
- Added rim lighting improvements so the characters no longer look like plastic or clay dolls.
- Added subdermal and epidermal lighting. Characters now feel like they have actual flesh with blood in them.
- Added a peach fuzz-style rim lighting to the skin.
- Added specular damping in creases to make the curvatures of the skin light realistically.
- Added crevice color bleed so nostril folds and the neck look warm.
- Remapped the skin specular curve, so the skin shines more realistically.
- Works fine with custom head blend models and custom clothing.
Improved hair:
- Hair can now be lit by all light sources, including the sun.
- Added back-lit sub-surface scattering. Light now gets trapped and reflected in the hair.
- Added a custom curve to fix the low-poly hair models looking like cardboard boxes.
- Added root cavity occlusion and strand depth grading. Hair reflects and looks realistic at roots and all points of the hair.
- Added hair tint color sampled from final hair color, making specular and sheen on the hair reflect properly.
Improved the water:
- Added wider, softer specular highlights and stronger, much more realistic waves, inspired by GTA 6 and Source 2.
- Added reflection flattening in canals while maintaining choppy sea water.
- Added improved reflection quality and intensity. Water can now properly reflect the sky too.
- Added sub-surface scattering, making water feel and look translucent in the waves.
- Added depth-graded color to the water depth for pools, so they actually feel like they have depth now.
- Improved pool waters with a new procedural ripple system.
- Improved and fixed ocean water simulation issues. Waves will now also reflect much more realistically as a result.
- Improved water foam simulation.
Improved raindrops on vehicles:
- Added proper depth cue and light transmission to the rain droplets when viewed from inside the cars in first-person view.
- Improved the overall raindrop generation and animation. Windows will also get more raindroplets.
- Fixed raindrops not reflecting properly and looking flat on both windows and car bodies.
- Fixed raindrops sometimes randomly disappearing.
Improved grass fur:
- Grass now has sub-surface scattering and lights just like real-life grass under the sun does.
- Grass dithering issue is directly patched in the shaders.
- Grass fur now has better blending and variation and looks less repeated.
- Grass strands now move individually with the wind. They’re no longer a static effect. Zooming in, you can even see the tips move more than the roots do.
Other changes:
- Added real parallax effect to the roads, fine-tuned to work best with VDE’s road textures.
- Improved and fixed the custom metallic paint, with better-looking aluminum flakes and strands.
- Added 5 new optional flares to pick, off by default.
- Added on-screen rain drops with different intensity depending on the active rain weather type.
Speaking of GTA 5 Enhanced, here are some other cool mods for its Enhanced Edition. If you don’t like the visual changes of RealityV, you can try NaturalVision Enhanced and ChromatiX Enhanced. In July 2025, we also shared a mod that makes fights with NPCs more fun and diverse.
Then we have the Drive V Mod. Drive V overhauls the physics of all vehicles, bringing a more realistic driving system. Thanks to it, every car or vehicle feels different to drive. Each one has its own physics, so they don’t all handle the same. So, if you want a more realistic driving system, you should give it a go.
Next is this one, which improves the quality of all the main characters. Moreover, you can use this addon pack with it, which adds 40 new cars to the game.
Finally, for our RTX-50 series readers, we have this mod that allows you to enable DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Gen. Sadly, though, it is behind a Patreon wall. From what I know, NVIDIA and Rockstar do not have any plans to add DLSS 4 MFG to the game as of yet. So, that’s kind of a bummer.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!
